A general discussion thread for all things DC Comics. Topics may be split off into their own threads if necessary. That said, since there's already a thread for the D Cn U (aka Nu52), this one would probably stick to pre-Nu52 comics to avoid redundancy.

I've always wondered if there's a justification for Wonder Woman's outfit being designed after a modern-day one-piece swimsuit/leotard instead of something that would fit her Greco-Roman mythological background (e.g. Amazons were more often than not depicted as wearing trousersnote ). A few attempted redesigns had her adopt Lady Legionnaire Wear for a skirt, but they never stuck. And then of course, there's her pants-wearing design during J. Michael Straczynski's run (courtesy of artist Jim Lee).

I Dunno if Tommy is even especially bad though by the people that end up members of the jla /jsa

At least unlike say Black Adam. The people he kills are exclusivey Asshole victims.

That story is from before the JSA was reformed, much less Black Adam joined it.

In the nineties DC was actually much more traditionally ethical about such things.

Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman had all retaken their roles from nineties antiheroes and the first arc or Morrison was about opposing villains posing as killing heroes. That issue shipped right after that.

Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.

Damn Ewing on a DC book, that's a huge gain if this is true.

Also Jeff Lemire's return to the company. He is rumored to be writing Flash.

Amusingly if Denis Camp is in this then that means he is writing the Ultimate books for both Marvel and DC (Camp is the current writer for the Ultimates ongoing).

Edit: Oh dang I found out about Pichetshote and he's the writer of books like Infidel and The Good Asian. I hear plenty of good stuff about those books.

Thats a pretty strong writer.

Well reading Outsiders Volume 5. Nocturna's willing prey club was weird. Even if I guess nothing their doing is illegal. Illegal as kinda assisted suicide . It's weird Seeing the most murderous villains in the entire dcu congregate with no one having issues is bizzare. Serial killers like murmur hanging out with evil sorcerers like Dr destiny.

Also might be the only comic where Trigon (Teen Titans) and Nergal (Hellblazer) meet. The two worst demon lords in the dcu. You know they have alot in common.

Even weirder was the presence of Chemo, inexplicably shrunken down to human size, and Upside-Down Man, a Lovecraftian horror in the Anti-Monitor's ballpark, power-wise.

[up][up]I just have so many questions on why a bunch of guys who've tried to end the world are allowed to hang out and possibly formulate plans and alliances. And no one has issues

It’s weird cause this is basically a snuff club.

All these villains of varying power levels and goals get together just so they can club and kill people in the equivalent way you take drugs at clubs to have a good time.

And with the new issue of Outsiders we now have another bizarre OOC case.

Doctor Fate now manages a hidden meta-village manning a gigantic gun that wipes out entire universes to keep things "orderly" and is in conflict with Klarion over who gets the gun.

Yeah I'm not sure what the hell is going on either, I'm not even sure that was Khalid under the mask. The costume is completely different from his.

This article on the Gray Lantern of Sorrow describes it as "the eleventh known individual color in total" which just makes me think...Nobody tell the Lanterns about Crayola crayons' 120-color box set XD

so we got the canonical seven, gold, ultraviolet, black, white...

doesn't grey make 12?

Hol up, why would Life and Death make Sorrow?

So are the Outsiders no longer Batman's team? Of all the things to remove Batman from why Outsiders? And Outsiders now have a feud with The Authority? Would those teams even have any overlap, considering one's an underground out of sight group and the other are a bunch of party boys?

The writers just wanted to do a follow-up to Planetary, they were offered Batwoman and Batwing by editorial because they weren't doing anything else, and went with the name Outsiders because they thought it would fit the books concept.

If I was in the position I'd have a long talk to these DC folks about the concept of branding. That's James Gun's job now isn't it?

SO about Batman's Outsiders, how did you guys like Achilles Warkiller on the team?

I keep getting Batman's Outsiders confused with Aquaman's Outsiders, probably cause (an) Aquaman was on both.

Coming up with team names must be even more stressful than coming up with hero names

Or villain names

I wish they did more with the Ultraviolet Lanterns and the concept of hidden Lantern rings based off non-visible light. Like, I think the only appearance of the UV Lanterns was the Snyder JLA run.

I would've thought that Grey Lantern Corps would be apathy or ennui. It feels like something that's the closest an emotion could get to just being a void like black/death
