So, quick question; When do you guys think we'll get more info on Gundam Extreme Vs. 2?

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.

Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2

Can I just take a moment and say how much I'd like to throttle the effing life out of the lunatic who thought it'd be funny to have Sarah's friendship mission require low relations with Reccoa?

Seriously! I spent a whole goddamn day killing Reccoa again and again and again to knock her down from Friendship to Trust. And by the time I did it, Scirocco went from Friendship to Caution and the mission in question requires him to be at Trust as well, so now I had to get him back up while keeping Reccoa down. Because every single time I got Reccoa down to Trust, I did ONE mission and she was already back up to Friendship despite not even having been present for the mission! Worst fucking Clingy Jealous Girl I've ever seen in a video game, I swear.

*sigh*... anyway. Those who still play this, what attachments do you usually rig your rides with?

Its been a while since I played DWG 2 (sold it once I got the platinum trophy on PS 3) but I usually went with the God and Master Gundam and attachments that bosted my Charge Attack 3 and 6 and boosted my SP gain. Mostl after I unlocked Overdrive and High Tension so I could spam Sekiha Tenkyoken over and over again.

VGR: Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 Is a Free Anime Mech Game Coming This Month

Just why the heck is Namco-Bandai hesistant to release a primarily Pv P game on Western shores, I will never know.

Because they don't think it's going to sell.

Shows are one thing because although they don't bring money directly, they do increase gunpla sales. Games, however, are expected to sell directly and mecha games is a niche in the West. I mean, you've got Mechwarrior, Titanfall... and that's about it.

[up][up]Me, I have a Self-Imposed Challenge to fit suits with attachments that reflect their canon capabilities/specializations rather than just minmaxing everything.

For instance, take the GM series, including the Nemo and the Jegan. I give all five Armor Gain (because as mass-produced units, repairs are trivial), Counter (because of the shield), Advanced Guard (because the shield doesn't have integrated weapons that interfere with durability) and Pressure Hit (beam armaments' armor penetration). The last part varies between the three: Shock Absorber for the GM (for lack of anything else), Power Radiator for the GM II (because of the slightly higher reactor output), Speed Star for the GM Command (because of being substantially higher-spec) and Cross Drive for the Nemo and Jegan (because these ones can actually kick).

Basically, I stick to the following rules:

  • Armor Gain: only if the suit is mass-produced (including the Gyan despite there only having been 2 or 3 ever built, but not the Gundam Mk II despite 3 having been built), variant of a mass-produced suit (Char's Zaku, the two custom Gelgoogs, Glemy's Bawoo) or able to self-repair (both Turns and the Master Gundam). I haven't decided yet whether to include the Jagd Dogas: they are based on the Geara Doga chassis (and I do include the Gouf Flight Type), but the difference is quite extensive, so it could go either way.
  • Counter: must use if the suit has a handheld, arm-mounted or shoulder-mounted shield, no exceptions (which means a lot of suits, actually: nearly all Gundams, all GM-type suits, all Zaku-type suits, Gyan, all Gelgoogs, Marasai, Baund Doc, Bolinoak Sammahn, Palace Athene, Gaza C and D, Bawoo, Sazabi). Made GM-type and Zaku-type suits surprisingly effective against aces once I learned how to time. Also used on the Master Gundam.
  • Advanced Guard: must use if the suit has a handheld or arm-mounted shield with no integrated ranged weapon that can be fired with a Charge Attack (shield bash and SP-only ranged attacks don't count). If the shield does have an integrated weapon that can Charge Attack, must use the appropriate Cross/Delta/Square/Penta/Hexa Drive instead of this. Also used on the Hyaku Shiki and the Burning Gundam due to their melee moveset style.
  • Biocomputer: only if the suit has a mind-related performance enhancer mechanism. Includes all suits with a psycommu, psycoframe or biocomputer, the Wing Gundams and the Musha Gundams, but does not include the ReGZ (canonically doesn't have the Zeta's biocomputer; novel says it has the psychoframe material left over from the Nu, but that's not the case in the movie), the G Gundams (however those things work, it's definitely not psychic), the Turns (the Turn X has a biocomputer of some kind, but it's not known if it's equivalent to UC biocomps in function) or the Strike Freedom (the DRAGOON control system is quantum-based, not psychic). Must use for these, not allowed to use otherwise.
  • Minovsky Drive: only if the suit is canonically capable of sustained flight (Gouf Flight Type, V2, SEED and Turn units), has a flight-capable transformation usable in-game (Zeta, ZZ, Hambrabi, Baund Doc) or is otherwise noted to have a high propellant capacity (Rick Dias; the Vertical Mecha Fins on the back are propellant tanks).
  • Speed Star: only if the suit is canonically noted to be exceptionally agile (Dom, Hizack, Gundam MK II, Hyaku Shiki, all three SEED units) or high-performance (GM Command, Gouf, Qubeley, The O) compared to contemporaries, or if the suit has a flight-capable transformation not implemented in-game (Gaza C and D, Bawoo, ReGZ).
  • Pressure Hit: only if the suit has a beam saber but is not high-specced in either melee or ranged. Also includes the Hizack.
  • Zero-Range Shot: only if the suit's primary ranged weapon is kinetic (all OYW-era Zeon mook suits except the Gelgoog, Ball, Rick Dias).
  • Hard Strike / Sniper: only if the suit specializes in the relevant combat type and more than half of its Charge Attacks use it. Only used together on the ZZ and the Sazabi.

I've only played Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 and Reborn, but haven't played either for a while. I still remember the most OP skill and equipment combination in 3 after all these years: Armor Gain and Final Sacrifice.

Personally for my 3 experience, all you needed was Serene Mind, One Man Army, Ace Killer for your pilot and for the mobile suit, Minovsky Drive, Long Reach and Sniper on the Unicorn and watch the game just fly by. Especially since Unicorn is available immeidately and you just have to play Banagher 10 times to"THAT IS ONE EVIL MACHINE!"

[up]So glad they took that side mission out of Reborn...but then they replaced it with getting screamed at by Angelo for trying to help Frontal...

There was also Katejina's sidequest in 3 whre you had to break up her stupid cockfight between two random units. GOD I hated Katejina in that game, ranking up her friendship rating took ages.

Reborn didn't endear me too much to Angelo either, but at least the alternate one is just helping the dope try to find Frontal and seeinghim practically orgasm over "MULTIPLE CAPTAINS...AHHHH..."

[up]I think Katejina's sidequest was the second most common in 3 after the Seabook one, since I got that one a lot as well. Third, I think was Hamon and Reccoa fighting over Char.

Oh right...the other Angelo sidequest. While I respect his loyalty to Frontal, Reborn pushes him into creepy territory with it. There were a few sidequests I liked in Reborn though, like Marida and Banagher going to get ice cream and Dozel going after Banagher because Audrey is with him.

Honestly, once I maxed out every relationship in 3 I had no choice but to stick Katejina and Seabook as my partner and operator so I'd never have to deal with their shit again.

Reborn also gave me more harmless ones like Heero, Duo and Trowa stirring up trouble but that's no biggie, especailly if you're playing any of the DLC suits (except the 00 Qan[T].)

[up]I think I ended up doing that in 3 as well.

I thought Reborn was overall the best of the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games.

Yeah, Reborn really was, it got a lot right. It also gave me the Aegis Gundam, probably my favourite of the Cosmic Era suits because of how fuckin' loopy it is the way it has mounted beam swords on every single limb, can turn into a Toy Story claw and either blow itself up for funsies or shoot frickin laser beams. I'm not a fan of CE suits otherwise but the Aegis is my sort of thing. Also ITS FUCKIN HOT PINK. I know both Justices are kinda pink too but compare their drab kinda pink to Aegis' straight up HOT PINK.

Also, I gotta admit my favourite random event was the one in 2 where Lacus suddenly asks you to find her Haro, mostly because it was kinda hilarious the first time. I was trying to not let Yazan Gable bash my brains in and suddenly here's this fuckin' bubblegum princess asking me to look for her toy. Really jarring and kinda warmed me to Lacus a bit.

I wish it'd come back too.

Honestly this talk about Dynasty Warriors: Gundam reminds me of an idea I had about the next installment; The new non-SDified Gundam that would represent SD Gundam would be Blue Gunvoy, and the main antagonist and final boss would be a non-SDified Yami Koutei.

[up]Seeing their current pattern, the next real-size SD might be Shin Command Gundam. (The Shin is important when referring to the Dynasty Warriors versions of the SD Gundams, since it's their official name in Japanese. Despite what most people think, Musha Gundam is different from Shin Musha Gundam.)

Personally, I'd rather Knight Unicorn, but as a straight-up SD Gundam. Or maybe Seikihei Monogatari as a sort of guest series or DLC. Superior Kaiser would also be a good idea.

I'd like to see the Perfect Gundam show up at some point too. Hey, Musha was a Plamo Kyoshiro MS first as well so it can hapen. And the Perfect Zeong too.

Honestly my DWG 5 wishlist goes on but the long and short of it is NOBEL GUNDAM SANDROCK ALTRON ZUDAH GUNTANK SHUKUYUU GOUF CUSTOM PLZ

It has the cuteness of the Nobel (and a Berserker function), the assets of Shukuyuu, it wields shotels, its pilot has a two foot stick up his ass, its got the Saturn Engine and a shield with a minigun installed

Its perfect, its more broken than the Stamen is in rReborn and THAT is broken as fuck

So... yeah. Remember my griping not very long ago about Sarah requiring low relations with Reccoa to unlock her mission? The fucking game got me again.

While I was clearing Kira, the Gundam Fight invitation from Rain never came up. I thought, maybe it doesn't came up for every pilot. Then shortly after I started Athrun, it came up right away - but now that I'm approaching the point where I'd take it to clear the Gundam Fight missions, it's suddenly not there anymore. So I googled around for the requirements.

It requires relations with at least 8 pilots to be on Caution or lower. Which not only the game doesn't tell me about, but I find out about it when I have a grand total of FOUR characters NOT on Friendship.

FUCK. YOU. DEVELOPERS.

Also I swear my game glitched out once. I was playing Scirocco and...got the Titans recruitment nail leading to two Sciroccos on screen.

Not a glitch. You can actually fight yourself on missions where your character is the final boss or is otherwise guaranteed to spawn, either as an enemy or as an ally.
