literally had Rick getting beaten up by Mr.Nimbus who controls the police apparently
New theme music also a boxUnfunny though it was admittedly kind of realistic.
Disgusted, but not surprisedWell duh he's Mr. Nimbus, he controls the police.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Realistic, sure, but they never do anything clever with it. "Herp derp, men are stupid, women are correct." That's been done to death in comedy.
It's been 3000 years…The joke does require making Summer and Beth more credible than they generally are.
Like when they had their ideas ignored, its not like its the first time in the show Rick never listens to either of them.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."They did something a little clever with it when Summer pinned the responsibility on the guy who stole the credit for her idea.
Disgusted, but not surprisedHuh, I guess I was the only person to like that episode. (I loved the escalating absurdity.)
Just a person. He/him.Only part of that episode I liked was the Las Vegas entertainers and the Chuds killing the sperm.
A problem I had with Season 5 is that some ideas felt half baked or stupid, not helped by recycling plot elements like Morty's dick causing the problem. At least the episodes with the Decoy Families, and the Turkeys were either balls to wall or insane enough to be entertaining, while the ones with Mr. Nimbus and Bird Person gave us some genuine insight to Rick's character.
- The Planetina episode fell flat because it was Morty arbitrarily growing a conscience over Planetina killing innocents, when he has done way worse, along with acting like she was "The one" when he knew her for less than a weak.
- The Sperm episode was an Idiot Plot that even the creators regret making, the Chud thing felt half baked and should have been it's own episode rather than a C plot, and the whole gender politics thing felt anvilicious.
- The Hellraiser and Voltron parodies share the same problem of being shallow, and using a Dead Horse Trope for the latter with it's attempt at parodying anime dubbing of the 80's.
- Morty breaking up with Rick just fell flat since it was just him throwing a tantrum over getting caught trying to replace Rick's portal juice with Mountain Dew, and then being surprised when Rick understandably doesn't want to take him back, then tries emotionally blackmailing him to force him to come back, only to make an Ass Pull with the Two Crows when that fails.
- The Evil Morty subplot felt underdeveloped, since we not only still don't really know just who the hell this Morty was, but he goes into this self righteous spiel about What Is Evil? and how he is trying to be free, and only is called "evil" because he goes against the Ricks, and pretty much manages to get everything he wanted in the end, no repercussions whatsoever. Not helping matters being that not even the writers knew what the subplot was gonna culminate too.

Vegeta: I'm back bitches!YMMV on the rest of that, but as to Rick going through Badass Decay when you have a character as unflappable and parodic as Rick, it's important to give them a "Shaggy Dog" Story or a This Loser Is You plot else they take on negative attributes of being an Invincible Hero.
There's valid criticism of Rick being too "mean-spirited" and too "invincible" in earlier seasons for a good amount of episodes.
There's an episode where Heist Bot goes through a hundred Decoy Twist's and loses to Rick in the end all so Rick can manipulate Morty into giving up on a passion Rick doesn't want him to commit too. Not only does Rick look horrible, he succeeds.
There's an episode where Rick traps himself in the body of a pickle. He thinks his way out of this, does a lot of badass things, and by the end of the episode has every single flaw in his character pointed out to him - then proceeds to ignore it for a season and a half. The consequences of his actions elude him.
The entire Vindicators episode was Rick sucking as a person but being ridiculously more competent than an entire superhero team put together.
So Season 5 was a welcome change of formula where the legend of Rick being unstoppably awesome takes a backseat.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).The season finale added a tragic twist to Rick being a badass in the first place. He only became badass as a result of trying and failing to find the Rick who killed his original family. He never really wanted to be a badass, just a normal guy.
Disgusted, but not surprisedNow he hates normalcy with every fiber of his being that brushing his teeth is cause it’s a normal routine is viewed with disdain.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. And knowing that he's more or less become what the "Weird Rick" wanted him to be in the first place — a multiverse hopping god — no doubt only fuels the self-loathing vicious cycle.
Disgusted, but not surprised10 bucks Evil Morty went and did what Rick did.
And on a meta-level we won't see Evil Morty again until the series finale - the whole point was getting away from Rick and, therefore, the show itself.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Anime Spin Off Announcement. "Adult Swim has ordered an anime project from director Takashi Sano (Tower of God) that’s based on the Emmy-winning series. The network has placed an order for 10 episodes of Rick and Morty: The Anime.
Sano previously directed two acclaimed anime shorts in the Rick and Morty universe: “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider” and “Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil).” The shorts have generated more than 10 million combined views on Adult Swim digital platforms.
While the director will adapt themes and events of the main series, Rick and Morty: The Anime is described as standing on its own as an original work.
“The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion,” Sano said in a statement. “It’s such a life affirming sight, and Jerry is no exception.” He adds, “I am honored to have been given an opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family. I hope you enjoy their adventures!”
Mileena MadnessOh God
New theme music also a boxSano really likes R&M, I guess. Well, I liked his shorts so it’ll probably be fun.
...I didn't pay much mind to the shorts and don't really see a benefit to this. But good on the director I guess. I just hope it has a consistent, strong art style and doesn't look like Shin-chan or switch styles every episode.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Good for him. I hope they're more comprehensible than the shorts.
It's been 3000 years…Regarding this show's presence at San Diego Comic-Con:
A spin off without Rick or Morty..I don't see this ending well
New theme music also a boxThe Vindicators... that were killed in that one episode... yay...Not.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Jerry normal adventure spin off when?
New theme music also a box... Why would you make a spin off about the least popular episode of that season? It's not even that people liked the Vindicators and disliked the plot. Neither of them were popular.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.IIRC, even Harmon and Roiland don't like that episode much.

And also that unfunny subplot where the guys completely disregard what Summer and Beth had to say was really stupid.
