Saw something on Tumblr. Jake and Gina had their twenty year reunion. Meaning they graduated twenty years ago... making them the class of 99.

I just started watching this. I'm enjoying the hell out of it, this is hilarious. Also, does Peralta read as ADHD to anyone else?

It might be just me cos I have it and relate, but the impulsivity, hating boredom, disorderliness, the energy, just seeming like he's got a million things going on in his brain all the time...his desk even looks like mine with all the crap on it.

At least on tumblr, fandom consensus is that Jake absolutely 100% has adhd and Amy has anxiety. As someone who has been diagnosed with anxiety and probably has ADHD (need to get insurance again so I can get tested) I really love it.

Yeah, it's pretty cool watching and seeing so many things about him that I can relate to, which I don't get to see much on TV. Well, at least not so obviously.

Just started watching this a week or two ago and I’m already almost through the third season. It’s fantastic and hilarious.

I don’t think Jake has anything diagnosable, he’s just really immature and irresponsible. He’s still a super entertaining character and makes me crack up several times per episode, but it still makes me happy when his dumb stunts end up biting him in the ass. Guy needs to grow up.

Holt and Rosa are amazing, Amy is way too much like me, and Boyle is lovely and I want to cuddle him.

Watched The Pontiac Bandit: Season 6, so I think I'm more or less caught up.

I cannot WAIT to hear your thoughts on episodes 12, 13, and 16. That was when the show really got me.
Well, since you asked:

  • Ep 12: I'm just gonna say it, it took me a LONG time to find Judy likable. Because I identify myself as Lawful Neutral (or at least, leaning towards it) I really hated his guts and how he kept getting away. It was only by his fifth appearance that I stopped getting pissed at him because, well, by that time even Jake himself gave up anyway and he got immunity so what can be done.
  • Ep 13: Looking back on it, it had a lot of elements that made me fall in love with this series. Also, I absolutely adore Peraltiago (or whatever is the "official" term) pairing and I found the rooftop to be genuinely cute and romantic. I also appreciated that the whole the Bet miniarc didn't went on for too long.
  • Ep 16: Oh God, Kevin. Just...goddamn it Kevin, I love him. Holt and Jake are tied for being my favorite characters in this series, because not only they have funniest moments but also the most awesome and poignant moments, so that makes Kevin X Holt also my favorite pairing.
  • Now for the more general comments regarding characters:
    • Who the hell keep on writing Rosa's romantic arcs, because hoo boy they ALL suck, and yes, it's a rhetorical question. I have yet to see a single lasting romantic arc involving Rosa that I actually rooted for. Hell, before Jake and Amy got together for realzy, he was the only one that I thought would be a good match with her. Of course, that was before the revelation of her being bisexual (which doesn't surprise me one bit, simply because I can see most of the cast being bi), and now I think Gina and Amy would've also been good matches for her.
    • Boyle...urgh, I never really liked him, though I didn't quite hate him either, but goddamn, ever since Jake and Amy got together him constantly trying to get them to sex and have a kid god creepy and annoying real fast. Those were some sexual harassment complaint worthy lines. I hate how nobody seriously called him out on it. Oh, speaking of which:
    • Freaking Gina. She is undoubtedly my least favorite regular character in the whole series. As noted in the Creator's Pet entry, I utterly hate how she constantly abuses the main cast, mostly verbally but also physically at few occasions (like tricking Amy into drinking cement, holy shit), and never suffers consequences because she's always right and how dare you for ever questioning her. When I heard that she'd be no longer part of the main cast, this song sums up my reaction:

Fuck you Gina, and see you never.

  • I also hate Hitchcock, because at least Scully is quieter and humble, with some legimately useful skils but Hitchcock is just disgusting, urgh.
  • Few comments on episodes:
    • Halloween episodes are all great, especially the marriage proposal one. I especially enjoyed how Holt gets more and more into it seriously.
    • Man, the whole arc where Rosa and Jake get framed and go to prison was genuinely terrifying. It was almost full The Wire stuff right there.

Well, that was all I can think of at the moment and now I regret not posting my reaction every episode. XD

I think I might try this series. I always need something to cheer me up.

I was greatly amused when I encountered "I was lightly stabbed" reference as a meme for another series. When I found out the scene on youtube, I laughed out loud so hard — really amazing comedic timing.

"I was not injured, I was lightly stabbed." — "You were STABBED?" — "Lightly stabbed."

Loool, so good.

“Cool motive, still murder” is one of my favorite Brooklyn 99 memes. That and the “HOT DAMN!” gif. Oooh, and the scene in the bathroom with Jake telling Cheddar “do NOT ruin this for us.”

Holt is just the best for those lines for me. By far the funniest character and my favorite in stiff competition with Terry. I love Holt's "Message of Hope" first draft:

"I've been asked to deliver a speech after the funeral. A Message of hope. Here's what I have so far: (deep breath) paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain. (Beat). That's it."

And of course:

"All you Fascists bound to lose."

"BOOOOONNEEE"

"What happens in my bedroom is none of your business."

"BOooonNNNNEEeeeeee"

but tbh "I've got a pair of microbinoculars in my front pocket, like a fool" is my absolute favorite Holt line and it never fails to crack me up

I loved all his Wuntch barbs SO much.

Holt: “Captain Wuntch. Good to see you. But if you’re here, who’s guarding Hades?”

Wuntch: “I’m the front-runner for a job in the Boston PD.”

Holt: “Boston? But it’s so close to Salem. You do know what they do to witches up there, don’t you?”

Holt: “Madeline. I wondered why all the birds had suddenly stopped singing.”

Wuntch: “I see you got an audience for this little stunt.”

Holt: “Yes, well, who wouldn’t want to see a man fight a crocodile.”

Wuntch: “Hello, Raymond. How do you like my new office? Twentieth floor.”

Holt: “Yes, I never thought I’d see you this high without a broom under you.”

Holt: “Care to sit? I’m sure you’d like to take some weight off your cloven hooves.”

Wuntch: “Calling me the devil, Raymond? How original.”

Captain Holt: “Actually, I was calling you a goat. You goat.”

Yeah, I agree that Holt has the best lines. I mean, he doesn't even have to try so hard, he just has to raise his voice.

There are so many good Holt lines, but one that wasn't mentioned yet:

"Call me...Velvet...THUNDER.

Holt: “Captain Wuntch. Good to see you. But if you’re here, who’s guarding Hades?”

This line is just great. Is there any classier way to call a woman bitch? [lol]

I really liked last night’s episode. I love the Holt v. Kelly plot, and the assistant was funny. Also loved the cold brew cold open and the hilarious barrel ending. Amy being, uh, super horny for Jake this season is a running gag that Melissa Fumero nails every time.

I’m rewatching the series and I just watched 9 Days. Serious question that must be answered: where is Arlo?!?!?

Yeah Gina... has always been a weak link. Aside from the fact that she's not a police officer in a show about police officers... it's really weird how the show is consistently "Gina was right."

Like, distractingly so. Even if I liked her, it would be weird how the narrative bends itself backwards to justify everything she does.

[down] Agreed.

I think having a civilian character is potentially an interesting contrast but they used her like that, like, once.

So excited about the renewal!

Tonight’s episode was heavy, but I thought it did a really good job. Very delicate to handle without dropping an anvil or minimizing sexual assault.
