Does Carol Danvers still have her Seventh Sense ability?

So yeah. This topic is exactly what it looks like.

I was wondering cause it seemed like an interesting ability, especially for a Flying Brick character to have.

I've gotten contradicting info on whether she still has it or not, though I get the feeling most modern books don't mention it any more.

It wouldn't surprise if she did, but it rarely goes off because there aren't many things that can legitimately hurt her any more.

If anyone knows what the deal is, I'd like to hear it.

The Marvel Wikia says yes. I can't remember the last time I saw it, but I didn't read the last Ms. Marvel series. It didn't come up in Captain Marvel, as far as I can recall.

"seventh sense?" i know i'm not too familial with Danvers' power set, but what does the "seventh sense" do?

From what I can understand, it's a limited precognitive ability that was meant to be a lesser version of Captain Marvel's Cosmic Awareness.

It was somewhat erratic however, and she apparently can't really control it.

So it's along the same lines as Spidey's Spider-Sense.

I would assume not? IIRC, she flat-out lost all of her original powers, was given the Re-Power as Binary, and her current powerset (before getting the Binary powers back) was her using weakened Binary powers to simulate her Ms. Marvel powerset. (Which, this being Marvel, was soft-retconned into her just having her original powers back.)

So it sounds like she might have it, and it doesn't get mentioned.

I mean, it has been said that it doesn't work all the time like Peter's Spider-Sense, so maybe it only kicks in on the rarest of ocassions like I theorized before.

Carol's seventh sense returning out of nowhere and being incredibly distracting but actually serving as a warning of an upcoming and horrible cosmic threat could be a good story.

Touch, Taste, Time, Smell, Sight, Sound, Self, makes seven senses. Now I would excuse this as something made in the 1960s but Captain Marvel already had the much more sensible "cosmic awareness" so how did this happen?

[up]Neither time nor self are included in the tradition 5 senses. The 6th sense is usually "intuition" or something similar, hence, a "7th sense". Main.Saint Seiya does the same thing, in naming their "special sense" the "seventh sense".

If you want to be technically, we have considerably more than 7. But that is not what the common knowledge says.

I've always thought of the sixth sense as "common sense", i.e., the ability to NOT act like a bonehead. Sadly, I've met many people who lack this one.

Embroiled in slave rebellion, I escaped crucifixion simply by declaring 'I am Vito', everyone else apparently being called 'Spartacus'.

Common sense is a myth - everyone claims to have it but there's no consensus at all about what it is.

IAT - you forgot the sense of purpose, the sense of adventure, the sense of right and wrong, the sense of humour...

[up]Those aren't 'senses' in the physical sense of the term.

[up] Hmm? Of course they are! Adventure is a physical property with a tensor value, the magnitude of which is measured in Hertz (twists per second).

Ah.

Well, it's funny to me, and possibly also to other engineering students.

A tensor is a mathematical structure used to represent, say, the forces acting on an object in multiple directions, but I mainly used it for the pun on 'tense'. Hertz are the units describing how many times some event happens per second - pendulum swings, wheel revolutions, spring oscillations, "cycles" of any kind... or, in this case, plot twists. And having even one plot twist per second is pretty ridiculous...)

Well, this became an odd conversation

One of the reasons I brought the whole thing up is because I started thinking of Wonder Woman vs Ms Marvel and started wondering what Carol could do to stand a chance (since Diana may be stronger depending on certain factors). The former is just more skilled, and can block Carol's energy blasts, so I started thinking that her Seventh sense might give her a fair shot at avoiding Diana's attacks.

But Versus Threads are always pure opinion most of the time anyway, and way too much trouble, hence why I didn't bother.

While I'd give the edge to Wonder Woman in a fight, I think it would still be an awesome fight to see. Carol would give as good as she gets. Wonder Woman's a bit stronger, but not that much, and while she can block Carol's energy blasts, the blasts still give Carol a nice ranged attack she can use to get some breathing room, as well as something she can surprise Diana with in-close.

I think the pair would wreck each other. And by the end, they'd probably be loving it. I actually think those two would be great friends if they met up. They'd probably be super-competitive about everything. I'm imagining them going to a bar and going drink for drink. And then doing karaoke.

And then because I'm a guy, I imagine them going back to one of their places and having sex. Because, you know.

Yes. Yes I do.cool

Glad to hear there are some who think she's give a good fight. I always got the feeling people think Diana would sweep it with ease due to her Centuries worth of Combat experience.

Thor is likely as old, but that doesn't make him automatically the winner of every fight he gets in, so why should Diana do the same.

Wonder Woman's an excellent fighter, well-trained with a tactical mind. So is Carol. She knows how to fight. And she's got the power to go toe-to-toe with Wonder Woman.

Anyone who thinks the fight would be lopsided is just being silly.

I am having trouble reasoning how Wonder Woman is stronger than Carol Danvers, isn't she Captain Marvel currently? You know, the cosmically powerful Captain Mar-vel who fought Thanos when he had the cosmic cube? The insane Genis-vel who nearly destroyed the universe? The guy(s) who were total game breakers in the PSP version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance? Isn't that her power now?

She has the same powers she had as Ms. Marvel. She's superstrong, generally around the 75 ton range, but able to use her energy to increase that. She's tough to the point of being bulletproof. She's fast. She's got her flight. She's got energy blasts. She can absorb energy.

She's immensely powerful, no question there. But Wonder Woman is at Superman's level, and Superman is at Thor's level, and Thor is a level above Carol.

Wonder Woman would know she was in a fight, no question there. But in the end, I would give the edge to Wonder Woman.

As an aside, Mar-Vell didn't defeat Thanos in a straight fight. He smashed the Cosmic Cube while Thanos had no body.

Nobody does that though, even if they really should. Okay, sometimes but you could probably count them on one hand.

But if her power set has not changed I guess it is a moot point anyway. I am pretty sure Miss Marvel was ranked as a class 90 last time I checked though. Not Thor level but it puts her firmly above most versions of the Ironman armor.

Part of the reason Thanos doesn't get beaten in fights is because he seldom allows himself to be. He's immensely powerful, so it takes another immensely powerful being to pose a threat to him. He's generally a very proactive person, so he usually knows who he'll be fighting, and prepares accordingly.

And the Marvel Wikia lists her strength as 75 tons under ordinary circumstances, with her able to use energy to heighten it above 100 tons.
