"It's hammer time!" shouted Min.
Shaolin Rogue's left hand reached around with brutal speed, straight into Skullface's left 'eyesocket'. The hand was left open, slamming the palm into the mass of squishier eyes, flexing the wrist and sending a force roughly equivalent to 5,000 jackhammers all being released onto an area about the size of a small house.
Skullface screamed and shuddered, its vision going blurry and its brain slightly scrambled from the effect of the left side of its skull having been capsized inwards.
Skullface has lost 5 points in Agility and one rank in Stability! It cannot use any special abilities it might (or might not) have!
Although it had just had half its face smashed in, the Kaiju were nothing if not tenacious. It struggled and struggled, but Shaolin Rogue's pilots had had quite enough for one day.
Suddenly, the beating fans of the Jumphawks could be heard, as from the horizon out at sea, Vulcan Specter loomed into view. The great machine was particularly bulky and mainly painted in red, decorated by its personal symbol - a six-barreled minigun over layed a series of blue flames. Its triangular conn-pod naturally followed the contours of the bulky, masculine chest, overlaid by a curved metal arch that gave the impression of a turtle, or maybe a hooded phantom. A pair of massive, many barreled missile ports rested on its shoulders, while its cylinder shaped arms were all but ready to dish out some serious damage.
Or at least, it would've liked too.
"Damn it, look at these bludgers stealing our kills! Thing's practically dead and buried already!" came a voice over the intercom.
"Yeah, well I wanted to look at the other patch of water, but oh no, Miss 'I think it'll come past the right, Kaiju always go right!'"
Where would you like Vulcan deployed? And what action should Shaolin take?
Hmmmm... have Shaolin split the kill or just steal it entirely. On one hand we should all be working together, on the other hand, the world's in the entire showboating mood and kill-stealing is definitely showboating.
If we have Shaolin finish it off, well that'll probably boost our respect but murder Australia's respect. Hmmmm...
Click Click Boom BoomHow do we know them losing respect won't prevent them from getting Striker? Maybe the first Mark 5 ends up being China's cause we are kicking so much ass.
Hmmm trying to think if offering the kill up to Vulcan will do more damage respect wise then just stealing the kill...
Click Click Boom BoomPlan I Was Just Softening Him Up For You: Drop Vulcan Specter Directly 3 Squares Left and 1 Square Up from Skull Face's position, then have Shaolin Rogue perform a Pivot Throw directly to the left so that Vulcan Specter has a chance to finish the Kaiju off.
Yeah works for me. As tempting as it is to take the entire kill completely. I'll go with Jawa's plan.
Click Click Boom BoomAs I see it, if there's one philosophy to remember when it comes to our fellow Kaiju-killing teams, it's "WAITT"

The next post may well result in the end of the fight, so it'll take a while to write up. But meanwhile, have some stats for Vulcan and a finished map.
Vulcan Specter
- Shatterdome: Sydney (Australia-New Zealand joint Jaeger)
- Appearance: Bulky and somewhat turtle/phantom like, mainly painted in red. Its personal symbol is of a six-barreled minigun overlaid on a series of blue flames. Its triangular conn-pod is covered by a curved metal arch. Its arms are shaped a bit like massive cylinders.
- Mark: III
- Pilots: Arataki Henare and Emiri Henare
- Number of Drops: 6 Real (4 kills), 89 Simulated (71 kills)
- Agility: 5 (-1 movement penalty in water, +2 accuracy for ranged weapons)
- Armour: 7 (+1 resistance to Impact)
- Stability: Stable
- Equipment, Weapons & Techniques
- Stinger Missile Launchers: Mounted on its shoulders, these were originally designed as stationary artillery pieces designed to fell Kaiju, only to fail when a standing target was too easy to eliminate. Essentially a hundred heavy artillery pieces welded into a single, many barreled weapon, it fires hundreds of tiny, flash bang tipped missiles. The damage dealt isn't the focus - the blinding, disorientating noise and light is. Can hit up to 6 spaces away. Deals 1 Impact damage to Armour, stuns the target.
- NB.02 Scythe Cannons: Retractable from the arms themselves, these huge, rotating cannons fire ten meter long, diamond tipped blades that spin in excess of 200 MPH. Although inefficient as a traditional ranged weapon, against Kaiju they prove surprisingly effective. Also of note, is that Crimson Typhoon's 'Sawblade Mode' utilizes blades derived from the design of the scythe cannons. Functions as a standard attack, but is used up to 6 spaces away and deals Blade damage.
- F-30 Flame Casters: Built into the palms, these relatively short ranged flamethrowers emit flames in excess of a 1,000 degrees Celsius, melting flesh and steel and igniting the air around the target. Can hit up to 3 spaces away, deals 1d6+1 Flame damage to Agility.

Skullface continued to struggle, but was shut down with another quick fist to the face. A voice blared over the intercom.
"Oh, right, sorry about that."
Within the conn-pod, Min looked Daniel in the eye and gritted her teeth. Her voice pleaded with him through the Drift. She needed to kill this thing, to feel its life vanish within her hands. He just shook his head.
She breathed deeply to calm herself, before yelling with rage. The two of them spun around, dragging Skullface along the ground, their flexi-joints expanding and contracting in perfect time, before releasing the beast. It hurdled through the air and landed right in front of the newly deployed Vulcan Specter.
"Thank you kindly," spoke the reply.
"Aye, thank ya. Now, who's up for a barbecue?"
As the beast landed, it sluggishly struck out - only for the hefty machine to grab its arm and twist the joints, pulling it towards them and over the shoulder. Meanwhile, their right arm began to twist and change. The fingers retracted, the hand folding away to reveal what looked like a series of massive gas canisters, ringed around a massive red-hot barbecue grill.
Skullface desperately tried to pull away, but all in vain - jets of blue-orange flame, so hot and bright they gave the impression of a miniature sun and forced many of those watching from the harbour and beaches to cover their eyes or look away.
Skullface screamed, a terrible, terrible scream that chilled all who heard it to the bone. Thankfully, said scream faded as its vocal chords promptly degenerated into ash, dust and toxic slime. The bones and cartilage coating its body began to pop and disintegrate under the heat, sounding almost like popcorn in a microwave.
With the flames fading, the charbroiled, burnt out husk of what might or might not have been a Kaiju at some point collapsed into the relatively shallow water. Only half of it was submerged, the rest flopping around uselessly like an ancient volcanic island covered in bones.
Another glorious victory.
Cheers rose up amongst all who had seen it, be it via a screen or with their own eyes at a distance. Daniel looked across at Li Min, and he wanted to smile.
But there was no grin on her face. Only regret. He felt it in the Drift, and his heart ached. He tried to reach out a hand, but she didn't respond.
"I know how you feel, Min, it-"
"It doesn't matter. We won, right?"
There was an odd silence that followed, despite the cheering outside.
VICTORY, CATEGORY III KAIJU 'SKULLFACE' DEFEATED
Second Event - October 29th 2018 Skullface attacks Sydney Harbour, Australia
- Category: III
- Agility: 9
- Armour: 5
- Stability: Stable
Vulcan Specter, the Australian-New Zealand Jaeger, will arrive on the scene at the start of Turn 3.
- Turn 1 - Skullface moves towards Shaolin 4 spaces.
- Shaolin Rogue attempts to move in and grapple (Agility (9) + Bonus (2) + 1d6 (6) = 17), and then attempts to latch on (1d6 (4) = 15). Skullface attempts to dodge (Agility (9) + 1d6 (4) = 13) and to shake them off (+1d6 (6) = 15) - and succeeds, thanks to Li Min 'Chasing the Rabbit' (Shaolin Rogue loses 1 rank in Stability (Lacking) - no Flexi-Joints or Piston Throws).
- Turn 2 - Skullface retaliates by aiming a claw at Shaolin's conn-pod (Agility (9) + 1d6 (1) = 10) - but Shaolin is able to move out of the way in time (Agility (9) + 1d6 (6) = 15). Because of (the excellent dice rolling (victory on 6 vs loss on 1 = critical)) adrenaline and rage Shaolin Rogue gains 2 ranks in Stability (Good - +1 Agility and Armour, Flexi-Joints and Piston Throws restored)).
- Shaolin Rogue dashes forward in order to grapple (Agility (9) + Bonus (2 + 1) + 1d6 (4) = 16) vs (Agility (9) + 1d6 (2) = 11) and successfully grabs hold! Shaolin tries to wrestle with Skullface (Agility (9) + Bonus (2 + 1) + 1d6 (5) = 17) vs (Agility (9) + 1d6 (1) = 10) and succeeds! Shaolin uses the Impact Hammers on Skullface's... face (1d6 = 5) and crushes one cluster of eyes while sundering several joints and part of the skull - Skullface loses 5 Agility (4) and one rank in Stability (Damaged).
- Turn 3 - Vulcan Specter arrives on the scene and is deployed.
- Skullface attempts to break free of the grapple (Agility (4) + 1d6 (1) = 5) vs (Agility (9) + Bonus (2 + 1) = 12) but fails and remains overpowered.
- Shaolin Rogue pivot-throws Skullface towards Vulcan Specter (1d6 = 4) - it lands right next to the new Jaeger and takes 1 damage to Armour (4).
- Vulcan Specter uses the F-30 Flame Casters at Skullface's head (Agility (5) + Bonus (2) + 1d6 (2) = 9), and Skullface fails to dodge it (Agility (4) + 1d6 (4) = 8) - the Flames roast Skullface's insides (1d6 (4+1) = 5), leading to an unpleasant stench and the sound of popping corn-esque bones - Skullface loses 5 Agility (-1) and all ranks in Stability (KIA).
Main post will be edited later, and the next post will detail what options are available. Feel free to make suggestions or plans in the meantime. If you've got any ideas for upgrades or weapons or plot events, feel free to bring them up.
