So, after some thinking, I won't be including fan-made Jaegers, including Wild Ronin. It's hard enough trying to manage and come up with designs, abilities, stats, plot lines and pilots for all of the canon ones not shown in the movie as it is. No worries, though - I've got some real goodies planned.

Also, much like human opinion (which 'respect' is ultimately based upon) there's no official designation of how well regarded a Shatterdome is by the PPDC and, more importantly, the United Nations and the various corporate sponsors. It will shift, but doing well during Kaiju attacks will increase the likelihood of it increasing.

Also, just updated the second post.

Pick one of the following plot chapters (these may or may not unlock additional techniques or upgrades for later):

  • Crimson Typhoon - After the First Drop
  • Crimson Typhoon - Message from Mum
  • Horizon Brave - Life Before
  • Shaolin Rogue - Not Bad
  • Behind Closed Doors

Due to the high level of respect for the Hong Kong Shatterdome, you can choose three out of the following options:

  • Dedicate resources and staff to further increase reverence for the Hong Kong Shatterdome through marketing, editing of footage, documentaries and merchandise
  • Refurbish the Cafeteria, Lounge, Bathrooms and other 'less important' areas of the Shatterdome, which have become somewhat run down in recent months.
  • Arrange to spy on one of the other seven Shatterdomes.
  • Request a transfer, to receive one of the Jaegers from one of the other Shatterdomes in exchange for resources.
  • Attempt to research new upgrades, techniques or weapons that can be applied to the Jaegers (suggestions or specific ideas are welcome).

Below are the other Shatterdomes in order of 'Respect' (not necessarily 'importance', though - while Tokyo and Hong Kong are both two of the oldest Shatterdomes and have fought relatively more Kaiju, Anchorage are the PPD Cs headquarters, but due to the low number of attacks their 'Respect', as in how many resources they get, is quite low).

  • Rank 1 - TOKYO
    • Tacit Ronin (Mk I, Japan)
    • Coyote Tango (Mk I, Japan)
    • Echo Saber (Mk IV, Japan)

  • Rank 2 - LOS ANGELES
    • Romeo Blue (Mk I, USA)
    • Mammoth Apostle (Mk IV, USA)

  • Rank 4 - PANAMA CITY
    • Puma Real (Mk II, Panama)
    • Hydra Corinthian (Mk IV, USA)

  • Rank 5 - SYDNEY
    • Lucky Seven (Mk I, Australia)
    • Vulcan Specter (Mk III, Australia)

  • Rank 6 - VLADIVOSTOK
    • Cherno Alpha (Mk I, Russia)
    • Eden Assassin (Mk II, Russia)
    • Nova Hyperion (Mk IV, S. Korea)

  • Rank 7 - ANCHORAGE
    • Brawler Yukon (Mk I, USA)
    • Chrome Brutus (Mk III, Canada)
    • Gipsy Danger (Mk III, USA)

  • Rank 8 - LIMA
    • Diablo Intercept (Mk II, Chile)
    • Solar Prophet (Mk II, Peru)
    • Matador Fury (Mk III, Mexico)

Alright, I'd say...

Plan Propaganda!

  • Merchandising! And Footage editing! And all that good stuff!
  • Refurbishment of less important shatterdome stuff. For morale and stuff.
  • Research ROCKET PUNCH! As in fists actually flying off the jaeger and then being propelled by rockets to punch a kaiju.

Normally I would go for railguns, but they're too practical for the current state of things. So rocket punch cause its flashy and stuff. Probably give it to Horizon Brave.

I think actual Rocket Punches are a bit too flashy even for this era, losing fists for one hit isn't exactly ideal.

Plan: Flashy, but not too flashy.

  • Crimson Typhoon - After the First Drop as our chapter choice. Crimson is the protagonist Jaeger after all.
  • Start up the propaganda train. We need to be ready for Striker Eureka's unveil and keep our spot safe from Sydney.
  • Refurbish the less important Shatterdome areas. All the morale bonuses.
  • Research Giant Flaming Meteor Hammer. Potentially for use by Shaolin Rogue who's flexi joints would probably get the most use out of it and is still pretty flashy.

I must say I am tempted to try and steal transfer for Gipsy before the Knifehead attack. Though that has the potential to backfire.

Plan All Awesome on the Home Front

  • Crimson Typhoon - After the First Drop (Like BWW said, Crimson is our primary protagonist here.)
  • Research: The Breach - Let's see if we can't figure out more about it, like how it works and why previous attempts to close it have failed.
    • If we aren't allowed to research that, let's instead research teleportation/wormhole/breach physics so we can create a 'gate network' between the various shatterdomes, or maybe even create a faster method of transport between the Shatterdomes and the Jaeger deployment sites.
      • If we aren't allowed to research that, let's focus on researching an improved plasma cannon design for Crimsons' left arm so that either it charges faster or is otherwise still useable for other things while it charges.

Ooh, maybe we could alter it to double as something like the plasma stake mounted on a Gespenst MK II.

As Crimson Typhoon was locked back into the Shatterdome, its pilots were treated like kings. They went out for a meal at one of the best restaurants in Hong Kong, signed autographs and answered questions from the swarms of paparazzi.

Hu, of course, lapped up the attention. Even the normally humourless Jin couldn't help but be wrapped up in the celebrations. They went to clubs and shows, and drank and partied for basically the whole night long. People asked them for interviews, their answers seeming to change from 'ecstatic but sensible' to 'completely unintelligible' as the night wore on.

The next morning, all three of them had pounding headaches. Their bodyguard, Mr Sunadori, had made sure they all got home safely, of course.

As he tried to remember back through the fog, though, Jin couldn't help but feel like he hadn't actually known any of the people there. Funny, that, how many friends they'd gained since becoming heroes of humanity.

They were interrupted from their combined expressions as a woman in an important business suit entered along with Mr Sunadori. Her name was Chen Hui, and she was someone with lots and lots of ideas. Not always good ones, mind you, but ideas none the less.

"Boys, I know you've only had three hours sleep, but have I got a surprise for you!"

Hu shot Cheung a dirty look and grinned at that last comment, gesturing to the attractive marketing executive with a slight nod of his head. Cheung snickered to himself for a moment before correcting his headache addled mind. Dirty jokes weren't professional, after all.

She excitedly failed to notice any of that, and instead gestured behind herself, as some men in smart suits started wheeling in a series of white boards and notes. She handed each of the three rookie pilots a freshly printed schedule and excitedly began telling them about all of the interviews and celebrity appearances she'd set up for the rest of the week.

There were photo shoots, calenders, novelty knick knacks and action figures. They got to play test and narrate parts of the 2018 edition of 'The Official PPDC Video Game', which proudly starred them and Crimson Typhoon on the front cover.

Hu lapped up every moment of it. Cheung just hoped he'd get to talk to his mother soon. It'd been weeks since they last spoke.

Hong Kong has gained additional resources through successful marketing and merchandise! Its respect continues to increase!

After about a month, though, another Kaiju attack took place - this time in Tokyo. The Japanese Mark IV Jaeger, Echo Saber, effortlessly struck down the Category III Kaiju 'Deathstalker', and didn't even have an older Jaeger watching its back the whole time. With detachable, plasma edged sword in hand and looking for all the world like a samurai of old, it struck with speed and awesome power. Meanwhile, one of the two pilots of the Australian Jaeger 'Lucky Seven' had started undergoing heavy criticism from the media for several comments made by him in interviews and for his less socially acceptable actions at a series of parties.

Cheung couldn't help but try to convince Hu that maybe he should take heed of what might happen if he kept acting like an irresponsible idiot, and he just rolled his eyes and shrugged.

"I'll be fine," he said.

Needless to say, the big news stories slowly slipped away from Hong Kong, at least for the moment.

Hu was bummed, needless to say. As he sat in the Cafeteria, watching the various staff - from scientists who excitedly yammered on about something or other, to engineers taking a break from their routine Jaeger checks - he couldn't help but notice something.

"Well," said Jin, "Maybe we should get back to practicing on the simulator, we don't know when the next attack could take place-"

Hu suddenly jumped to his feet, so excited his sunglasses nearly fell off.

"Guys, I know what we'll do!"

Cheung and Jin both looked at each other with a distinct look of 'what now'.

"We'll do up the whole place! Look how run down this place is! Paint is peeling, the bathrooms don't get cleaned enough, the food is, eh... 'okay' and the carpets in the lounge keep getting stained with weird stuff!"

Jin frowned.

"That... that's actually a pretty good idea."

Through a mixture of arm twisting and subtle hints and careful suggestions, the Marshall shrugged and sighed. Within the week, resources went into making the various areas of the Shatterdome presentable once again. Construction teams and engineers and decorators all played their part, happy to have work to do on such a lucrative and big name project. It even brought a bit of extra media attention, especially throughout Hong Kong and other, nearby provinces of China.

Morale has increased! Respect has increased! And all because the Lounge and Cafeteria needed a decent paint job and the toilets are properly cleaned out.

As routine continued to settle in and everyone went back to their daily lives of training and patrolling and simulating, the K-Science Division was having a field day. Resources were poured specifically into trying to understand more about the Breach and how it functioned.

This particularly pleased the mathematician Hermann Gottlieb, so much so his noisy, Kaiju obsessed friend Dr Newton Geizler wouldn't be hearing the end of it for quite some time.

Hermann shrugged at the first question, though.

"We already know why attempts to close it have failed. Its too unstable for complex physical matter to pass through. I'm surprised the Kaiju can get through at all, really... we've tried learning it before, but the radiation given off by it tends to fry delicate instruments, and any attempts to send machines through just destroys the machine, or at least cuts off all communication with it."

The thought of creating a more stable second Breach as a sort of 'Star Gate' to link the Shatterdomes together certainly intrigued him, though. He began to look into it, and sent messages to various colleagues of his both within and without the PPDC.

"We'll work at it, but it'll certainly take a long time, I'm afraid. It would definitely have potential, though!"

Research Progress made towards Artificial Breach! One of fifteen actions taken to completion!

It is currently October, 2018.

The Breach opens again on October 29th, 2018. The Kaiju heads straight for Sydney Harbour, Australia. It's a Category III, and Lucky Seven is in lock down due to police investigation of one of its pilots. With Vulcan Specter the only Australian Jaeger that can be deployed, they send a request through for Hong Kong to assist them.

Will assistance be given? It isn't mandatory, but it will massively reduce respect for the Shatterdome if assistance isn't given.

If so, how many Jaegers should be deployed, and which ones? Launching more than one may reduce respect for the Shatterdome, but can still be done so.

Plan Confidence, or What could go wrong?

Send in Crimson Typhoon; try to coerce them for an active role, rather than a support role.

Reason: For are we of different countries not man, and thus it is right and just that we would help our brothers and sisters. Also, those delicious, delicious respect.

Plan Rogue Asset

Deploy Shaolin Rogue to assit. It's just an assist, so no need to send Crimson Typhoon out there. Shaolin should be enough to cover it, plus it helps keep Crimson from taking a backup role. As long as it doesn't become necessary to do otherwise, we want our premiere Jaeger to remain a star, not a supporting player.

Some roguish assistance is on the way.

Alright, that was lame.

"Gondo- I mean, Sydney, calls for aid!" said one of the LOCCENT technicians at Hong Kong.

"And Hong Kong shall answer!" replied the second guy.

The Marshall's palms, firmly placed as they were on the Marshall's face, seemed enough to cover the walls.

The best laid plans are often made waste. The situation was going to be pretty standard - Vulcan Specter and Shaolin Rogue would stay within sprinting distance of each other at the Miracle Mile, forcing the Kaiju to go through one or the other and hopefully killing it long before it even got a whiff of the Harbour.

Unfortunately, technical faults tend to crop up at the worst possible moments, and LOCCENT's launch code software hadn't been updated recently, and a coding error - one tiny error on a single line of code, in a system containing trillions of such lines - promptly got itself stuck in a loop.

It took twenty minutes for Hong Kong's LOCCENT teams to find the fault and reboot the system. Twenty minutes!

Vulcan Specter wasn't destroyed by the delay. Just ignored. The angular, many limbed, freakish looking beasty that had been dubbed Skullface took one look at the lumbering, heavily armoured, cannon-armed Jaeger and probably laughed, in the depths of its two brains. It swam right around it, straight for the northern half of Sydney Harbour.

Unfortunately, without the presence of a carefully set up and monitored Shatterdome to reattach its cables, Vulcan Specter was left stranded, ten miles out at sea, slowly trudging back to Sydney Harbour.

By the time Shaolin Rogue arrived, Skullface was already within the Harbour, swimming up around one of the many northern bays.

As Li Min looked out over the city below, she shuddered.

"Too close. Too close."

Daniel gave her a faint smile.

"No worries - we'll make it."

She rolled her eyes.

"I meant for the Kaiju. Now we're going to have to screw it over really bad."

Using the map here and some sort of image software (doesn’t have to be fancy), indicate where you want Shaolin Rogue to be deployed (that is, which spaces). The Kaiju is shown by the letter K, but a definite image of its appearance or abilities is yet unknown.

Vulcan Specter will arrive on the scene by Turn 3. At any moment, you may call for reinforcements. Additional Jaegers from Hong Kong (Crimson Typhoon and Horizon Brave) will take 6 turns to arrive. Doing this may reduce respect for the Shatterdome.

If one or more Jaegers are destroyed or disabled by the Kaiju, Lucky Seven will be forced to launch. Respect will drop steeply for all Shatterdomes.
