Plan Observe and Intercept, engage!
Jin took the lead within the Drift - such had always been the case, really. Through practiced gestures and shared thoughts they knew where to go, what to do. They turned and waded, bringing themselves even more so in the path of the terrible leviathan.
"Plasma Caster, charging!"
Cheung nervously nodded, while Hu gave a smirk so wide it looked like Crimson would somehow sprout its own jaws, just to mimic it. The three of them swung their arms around in a loop, palm spreading wide with the elbow jutting backwards. The Jaeger shuddered, the fingers of the left arm retracting and splitting apart as they exposed the vast, tesla coil like weapon. From multiple charging points it began to generate a sphere of glowing energy, crackling with power.
IB 22 Plasma Caster activated. Charge begun. Left arm cannot be used while charging.
The two lead pilots could feel Cheung's caution, though. That thing was moving fast, and the Plasma Caster would take up to three minutes to reach firing mode. Hu shrugged, and Jin remained stalwart. With a chaotic flick of the wrist, the two right hands of Crimson Typhoon became saw blades - the fingers bent backwards, diamond edged blades emerging from the sides before spinning with tremendous speed.
Sawblade Mode activated in both right arms. Basic melee damage changed from Impact type to Blade type.
Po looked on in disbelief, watching as they moved all the more into the path of the creature and began charging up the Plasma Caster.
"Are they out of their minds? Can't they see its charging straight ahead?! All it'll have to do is shift its position slightly, it'll smash straight into them...!"
The crackling voice of LOCCENT spoke up.
"You may proceed to the coastline, but stay out of range."
"But... if they get in trouble, what if we can't reach them in time?!"
"Crimson Typhoon can handle itself effectively enough. You know your duty is observation."
"Yes... yes sir."
Shen muted the comms, and sighed.
"The Wei triplets are basically kids, and they think the shiny toys are gonna save them? What do you bet are the chances they're doing this because it'll make Crimson Typhoon look better for the cameras?"
Po shrugged, his mind flipping through the images of the reporters and helicopters that usually showed up shortly after a Kaiju was spotted, desperate to get the latest story.
"I dunno. Just... let's move in. Keep ready. If this overgrown lump of blubber and scales tries anything fishy, we're gonna deep freeze it, salmon style."
Shen smirked.
"...I love it when you make really stupid puns. Even when it's completely inappropriate."
The Kaiju, which LOCCENT had now dubbed Barracudask, had for a moment almost seemed curious. Now it only seemed to care about caving Crimson's chest in. It picked up speed, and was going to hit Crimson with the force of a freight train. An angry, toothy, 3,000 ton freight train.
Barracudask has performed a melee charge attack against Crimson Typhoon! Crimson Typhoon can either attempt to *Block* the attack, bolstering its Armour rating for this attack, or to attempt to *Dodge* the attack, bolstering its Agility rating for this attack. Crimson Typhoon cannot move while engaged in an attack. If Crimson Typhoon successfully Blocks or Dodges an attack outright, Crimson will be given the opportunity to counter-attack.
The current map
◊. At any moment, you may call for reinforcements. Additional Jaegers from Hong Kong (Shaolin Rogue) will take 4 turns to arrive. Doing this will reduce respect for the Shatterdome.
We should have Crimson Typhoon call for help from Wild Ronin!
Hmmm... depends on how powerful those jet thrusters are. It says two spaces in any direction, if that includes up, it would probably work. On the other hand it would also give the kaiju a straight shot to the island. Maybe attempt to rocket jump up and then land on the kaiju's back and start saw blading? Or maybe just goomba stomp?
Click Click Boom BoomSpecifically dodge to the left if it matters, that way our saw arms will be closer to Barracudask.
Tealove is best pony.Pony Fanon IndexCrimson Typhoon attempts to *dodge* the charge! Please note, all rolls will take place 'behind the scenes'. They will not be altered for dramatic effect, and they will be shown at the end of the current event.
The terrifying beast thundered towards them, jaws opening wide and rows of sword-like claws wide open and ready to strike.
"Watch out!" shouted Po over the comms. Crimson didn't respond. It hopped backwards, its body just missed by a swipe of the Kaiju's claws.
Barracudask had apparently not quite timed itself. As it leapt from the water with terrible speed, its weight and momentum kept it moving forwards, and it promptly smashed into the rocky beach-side cliff. The impact dazed it, as did the prompt capsizing of part of the cliff, as hundreds of tons of rocks and sand and grassland fell onto its head.
Barracudask has taken 1 damage to its Armour rating! It is now stunned (its Agility has been halved until the end of next turn)!
Barracudask slowly rose to its feet, shaking off the debris. Now it could be clearly seen - slender and many limbed, like the hybrid offspring of a lobster and a barracuda, its front limbs twisted into huge, bladed claws, its body otherwise covered in arching, spiked legs. It is a dusty, pale grey colour, its eyes glowing a cold blue.
It is now your action for Turn 2 (the dodge was a response to Barracudask's attack for that turn, not an action in and of itself).
The current map as of your action for Turn 2 (Turn 2B)

If at any point you have any comments about the system so far, please let me know! I like to think it's wound up quite different from the system used by a lot of the other Pacific Rim games, I just hope in a good or at least 'okay' sort of way!

I propose Plan Hurt the Fish Monster With Saw Blades, as named by the inimitable Leonardo of Quirm. It involves hurting the fish monster with saw blades.
Next turn the plasma caster should be charged up. Fun times.
So, all regions of a Jaeger of Kaiju are either 'Armour Points' (tougher, denser areas used to protect and support the rest of the Kaiju/Jaeger), 'Agility Points' (joints, bones, ligaments, sensitive areas etc. used to make the Kaiju/Jaeger more mobile or accurate) and 'Stability Points' (organs or weak points, these are usually always internal, but some Kaiju/Jaegers might have external ones. If an Agility or Armour point is damaged sufficiently, it will likely change into a Stability Point instead). All attacks must be called, seeing as different regions weaken/damage the enemy in different ways.
Damaging an Armour Point reduces Armour (and if it goes less than 0 they shut down), damaging an Agility Point reduces Agility (and if it goes less than 0 they shut down), damaging a Stability Point reduces Stability (and due to the overall lower 'numbers' for Stability and the fact that poor Stability = everything is weakened, makes them a major target area).
- All basic melee attacks work the same way:
- Attacker rolls 1d6 + Agility for accuracy, the defender just has Agility for evasion (unless they choose to 'Dodge', which gives them 1d6 to roll + Agility). If the attacker has a higher accuracy total than the defender's evasion (not tied, which goes to defender) then the attack succeeds.
- If the attacker succeeded, he/she then rolls 1d6 + Armour for damage, the defender just has Armour for defense (unless they choose to 'Block', which gives them 1d6 to roll + Armour). If the attacker has a higher damage total than the defender's defense (not tied, which goes top defender) then the attack deals 'excess damage rating amount' to the appropriate area, depending on what was targeted - Agility, Armour or Stability.
Plan Jugular Shot is go, will be written up 'soon' and posted.

Indeed, relevant changes made to the earlier post.
As Barracudask slowly turned, Hu was the first to suggest a quick counter attack.
"If we hit it now, with both arms, it'll be wide open to the plasma caster! That, and it'll look amazing."
Jin was not the type to humour Hu, generally, but he was in a surprisingly good mood today.
"Let's go for it. My arm to the right, your arm to the left! We'll meet in the middle!"
Cheung's complaints were lost in the Drift, as the three of them ran straight towards the Kaiju. The right arms revved up as fast as they could, before swinging them together, aiming straight for the relatively weaker flesh in the neck! But even in its uncertain state, the creature raised a single arm, deflecting the blow from Hu's blade with the sound of iron and stone.
Jin's blade, meanwhile, struck clean through.
Barracudask has taken 1 damage to its Armour and 1 damage to its Agility! It has lost 1 rank in Stability and will not be able to perform any actions next turn!
Barracudask screeched, its throat starting to bubble with pale blue froth, as it back pedalled away. Its arms swing fast and wide, but the Wei's had no trouble at all avoiding it. Suddenly, a click is heard, the crackling orb of blue lightning expanding to its full potential. The Plasma Caster was charged and ready.
The three brothers all looked at each other, as a faint smirk appeared on Jin's mouth.
"Ready?" he said.
The positioning situation is the same for Turn 3 as it was for Turn 2. At this range and under these circumstances, Crimson will not miss with the IB 22 Plasma Caster. Do you wish to fire?

"Ready!" they shouted in unison.
The three of them opened their palms wide as they pushed their left arms forward, Crimson doing the same, and the sphere of energy expanded into a piercing beam of blue light.
Barracudask, it must be said, did not have a lot of time to react. Some might have reckoned its expression just before it was hit by the beam was one of fear, or rage, or hate. It was hard to tell with Kaiju.
Whatever the case, its expression soon disappeared as its skull and neck were mostly vaporized into a pale blue dust, the stump marked by boiling golden sludge. The body stopped, wobbled, and then collapsed onto the ground with a mighty crash.
All throughout the Shatterdome, whoops and cheers and the sound of clapping hands rises into the air. The whirling blades of police, military and journalistic helicopters can be heard as various groups try to get a piece of the action, be it fame or the necessary cleaning up from the risk of Kaiju Blue.
Horizon Brave makes a fist pump motion at the younger Jaeger, which gives a shrug with all three arms, and a nod of its head. 'No deal' is the implication. For Hu, of course, this feeling is the start of something truly awesome. Cheung, meanwhile, spots a crowd of villagers waving and cheering at them, and the three arms give a little wave back.
Jin just thinks about the Kaiju, and how it wasn't challenging enough. He hoped that would change soon.
VICTORY, CATEGORY III KAIJU 'BARRACUDASK' DEFEATED
First Event - August 22nd 2018 Barracudask attacks Wangjiao Bay on Dangan Island
- Category: III
- Agility: 6 (-2 movement penalty on land)
- Armour: 8
- Stability: Stable
- Can 'Charge', essentially by 'moving through' a target the maximum number of spaces. Functions as standard attack, except the Damage/Armour roll uses 2d6 rather than just 1. If dodged, the user must finish the movement. If the ensuing movement involves crashing into something on the other side, the user takes 1 damage to Armour and is stunned (Agility halved) for the next turn.
- Turn 1 - Barracudask moves towards Crimson. Crimson moves into its path (between it and the coastline) and begins charging the IB 22 Plasma Caster while activating Sawblade Mode in both right hands. Horizon moves 2 spaces southwest.
- Turn 2 - Barracudask 'Charges' at Crimson (Agility (6) + 1d6 (3) = 9). Crimson dodges the Charge (Agility (8) + 1d6 (3) = 11), leaving Barracudask stunned and having taken 1 damage to Armour (7).
- Crimson quickly counters, striking at the neck with both right hands (UPPER Agility (8) + 1d6 (6) = 14) and (LOWER +1d6 (2) = 10), which both connect (UPPER Armour (4) + 1d6 (4) = 8) and (LOWER +1d6 (6) = 10). Barracudask attempts to block the upper arm (Armour (7) + 1d6 (5) = 12) and succeeds, but the second connects. Barracudask takes 1 damage to Armour (6) and 1 damage to Agility (5), and loses one rank in Stability (Lacking). Horizon stays in place. Crimson's IB 22 Plasma Caster finishes charging.
- Turn 3 - Barracudask cannot perform an action, due to being stunned and having lost a rank in Stability this turn. Crimson fires the IB 22 Plasma Caster towards Barracudask's head (Agility (8) + 1d6 (4) = 12). Barracudask cannot avoid it (max dodge = 9). Barracudask takes 8 damage to Armour (-2) and loses all ranks in Stability (KIA).
Main post will edited 'soon', and the next post will detail the aftermath and what options are available. Also of note, the number of Jaegers available to Hong Kong may be retconned, if some of the people I contacted on deviantart about using their fan Jaegers are okay with it.

Plan Observe and Intercept
◊
Horizon is to move to account for the new position while keeping at an observer distance, while Crimson is to start charging the plasma cannon and warm up the right sawblades while moving into position and prep for attack.
