RWBY Fanfiction Thread

That fits my observations as well. I believe the reason few writers choose to write about Penny, even though she's fairly liked amongst the fandom, is because she doesn't really work that well in literary medium. Most of the comic relief comes from the delivery of her lines and the visual image of a cheerful girl swinging swords around. Even her death scene relies heavily on visuals to have a desired effect. You can't really convey any of this through words alone and once you strip those effects away, there isn't much of a reason for Penny to exist. Maybe it will change now that we know more about her. Idk.

That one's a bit of a shame. I do think both Ren and Nora could make for good protagonists if handled correctly, but since the show tends to put them in the background, it's no surprise that the fanworks follow.

Ciel does not have a weapon shown and has not winked at anyone, which makes her worthless in the eyes of the FNDM. In all seriousness, I wouldn't mind reading or writing something about her, but she's such a non-entity that it's hard to expect her to get much attention.

That one hits close to home. I've written two fanfics with a strong White Fang presence, yet haven't given Sienna a single scene in either of them. It seems as though, for all people complain about Sienna being underutilized, she doesn't get much love from fanfic writers.

I think there are several reasons for that. For one Sienna doesn't appear until well after the Beacon arc, which is the main focus for most non AU fics it seems, and there is no real reason to implement her into these events. Secondly, Sienna never interacted with any of the protagonist, so she can't really work as an antagonistic force unless you mix things up quite a bit. Finally, while I won't say too much about the subject, there is another White Fang leader who is shown caring about the cause and refusing to work with Salem's faction, making Sienna rather redundant provided you handle said other leader well.

Can't say I relate, with how petty and downright insane his motivation is.

I get that, Ruby's hardly the most interesting protagonists of all time. Some of the fanfics make her better though, either by playing up her V1 traits and making her, if nothing else, more vibrant and funny, or by making her less of a paragon and more of a goal-oriented character. The latter is the reason why I go on about Arcanum so often and the reason why I still remember Gladiator.

And yeah, she is the main character at least in name, so she is bound to appear often.

Im trying to create a chararter base on vlad tepes(dracula) and im strugling with his color name, I try to use rumenian world for crinsom but I got purpuriu, which nobody will take seriously, I try blood but I good sange which is to much on the nose, I decide his name would be Bradon(for Bran, the author of dracula) and his weapon would be a lance-shogun call Impaler who can extend itself and was made by in the war and pass from father to son.

I have yet to give him a a semblence, any ideas?.

Well... Considering the inspiration, would blood-related Semblance be too much on the nose?

Linked in Life and Love chapter 77 updated a few days ago. I have no idea why I'm so bad at remembering to check it. It's on my notifications list and everything. Anyway, Roman provides a loooong list of his crimes, and Neo is offered a spot at Beacon with Penny, Ciel, and Ilia.

Sounds good.

It's certainly interesting team, though I wonder what would be the team name... PINC(as in "pink",) or PCIN(as in "porcelain) maybe?

Haven't been posting in this threas for a bit, which is odd since I'm still keeping up with CAA stories.

The most basic rundowns of them:

• Relic Of The Future - Leonardo murders Ozpin. I was wondering how long it would take for the latter to die in this fic. And he's right - Jaune WILL come for Leonardo now and I'm looking forward to it.

• A Rabbit Among Wolves - In which Blake becomes the Vale's most famous racist. Honestly, it's amusing how CAA comes up with all these creative humiliations of Blake.

• Professor Arc - Atlas makes a deal with Raven, an offer that confounds the latter. Also, Pyrrha gets the permission to beat the crap out of Cinder. Fun times.

So, RWBY: Scars has Neo joining Cinder, even though Roman isn't dead. Interesting. I was wondering what they'd do with Neo' character.

I've seen some concept art for V7 designs and it looks like Yang'll get her prosthetic arm back. Aw, I liked the aura arm.

To complete your little list here, in Arcanum Ruby decides to spend the rest of her life in the magical cersion of Library of Babel, while Yang and Blake head off to take care of the actual plot and Weiss is busy trimming her nails or something like that. In Beast of Beacon, Ruby made friends with Adam "Grumpy McGrumpinson" Taurus, much to the latter's displeasure, while in Null Jaune is on buddy terms with the White Fang as a whole, though only out of necessity. Can't say much about the latter, cause I don't find it particularly interesting.

And yeah, A Rabbit Among Wolves is a goldmine of hilarious events and dialogue. There is half a dozen lines just from the latest chapter that I want to quote, ncluding the intire exchange between Blake and Ilia, but I'll settle with this one:

"People should be judged by their weapons, not their physical traits."

Started reading The Beast of Beacon, in which Adam joins Beacon.

• Adam in this fic is probably the first one to make the sentence "And I'm shopping." sound badass.
• Adam bonding with Ruby over "mutual" dislike of Weiss is amusing.
• Very understably, Blake freaks out upon seeing Adam.
• There's something really weird but hilarious about how Adam cares a lot about his nutrients intake.

Not as much as A Rabbit Among Wolves, but I'm greatly enjoying this fic so far.

Speaking of Doom Slayer and RWBY, how is Remnant Inferis: DOOM? I like the basic concept, but a few tropes I've seen on pages such as Deconstruction Fic make it seem insulting to RWBY. I'm getting the sense that it has a tone of "Obviously only the Doom Slayer can handle demons because everything about the world of RWBY just makes things worse."

At its current place on my list, I'll get to it in a couple months, but I'm feeling like I shouldn't bother.

Well... It's not nice to team RWBY, but they toughen up as it goes by. It's not really insulting to RWBY and it has more to do with RWBY than Doom. I mean, it's a Fusion Fic and the author blends in both verses nicely. With release of DOOM Eternal, some things are outdated but not that much. the demons in this story are a result of Brother Gods punishing humanity and turning them into shards that drifted into void and got distorted, warped into demons through pure hate. In Doom Eternal, demons are made from soulless human husks after soul extraction.

I get so much satisfaction from seeing RWBY villains put in their place tho, heheh.

It's brutal, it's gory, it's dark, it has some grammar errors but I like it and enjoy it either way.

Can't say I relate. In my opinion RWBY villains get treated unfairly by the narrative, getting their asses wooped either because the writers forced them to make a stupid out-of-character decision, for reason that doesn't hold up when you think about for a moment or sometimes for no reason at all. It's the heroes that I resent, for these very reasons. When writing fics, I usually have to restrain myself from having them all die horribly during the first fight.

I do enjoy messing with Cinder though. Even then, it's usually to a lesser extent than the show had done that in more recent volumes.

I have to admit that I want to write roman chapter told in the style of alex the large in order to drive the inspiration harder.

"Then I saw that little pesky girl in the back of the ariship, I though she have snuff it that little red fellow was persistence.

Well, it was time to teach her the big old, ultraviolence"

Oh my God, Relic of the Future ch.101. Jaune is NOT having any of the Team STRQ emotional hangups. He keeps saying things so ridiculously callous, such as:

"...Get Team STRQ together if you want to sort this out. Have a party, or the world's most awkward orgy, I don't know and I don't care."

It's hilarious.

Still doesn't beat Ruby giving Nora the most savage of burns in Arcanum.

Nora: It's not like that! I mean, we're together but not together-together, you know? Not that I'd be against it, but Ren, well, we've known each other forever. It'd be awkward.

Ruby: How can you say that with straight face? I've met whores less capable of faking feeling...

CAA fics update, at least the ones I'm keeping up with:

• A Rabbit Among Wolves: Jaune and Trifa infiltrates a Faunus labor camp, and it turns out that you don't need angry guards with whips to utterly exploit laborers. Also, the first chapter where only Vale-sector White Fang members appear, no Beacon, no Menagerie WF faction, anything. Come to think of it, haven't seen Cinder's gang in a while in this fic.
• Professor Arc II: And the Winter Maiden finally passes on her powers to...Cinder. Much hilarity ensues, especially on behalf of Ironwood. And here I thought him and Jaune will finally be able to make peace. Oh, and trigger-happy Captain Jinn is the best Jinn.

As for Arcanum, Ruby pimps Ren out to Nora in exchange for a magical equivalent of an internet browser, while Blake and Yang play rodent removal and Weiss is getting low-key tortured by Glynda. Fun stuff.

On an unrelated note, the fic with the longest title I've seen is getting reposted to fanfiction.net. I mention this because I saw it in the Fanfic Recs list a while ago and now it's probably my duty to update the entry with the current link. But I don't want to, so I guess that will have to wait.

That's actually a lot shorter than I expected.

Man, is it just me or does RWBY fanfics have shorter titles than other series in Fanfiction.net?

I mean, I haven't seen any excessively long fic titles. I've seen some fandoms like that, usually ones where the source work also has a long title, but RWBY just seems normal on that front.

Now that I think about it, the series' very title being a acronym might encourage writers to be brief. In addition to being one of the shortest titles out there, of course.

I just re-read Remnant Inferis: DOOM and enjoyed it. Like some of the little changes author did to better tie into stuff DOOM Eternal revealed. It's not too much but nice. I appreciate the gory ultra-violence it has heheheheh.

But grammar can be so...aggravating at times. It's not at every new line, paragraph. I have tolerance because I like the story so much but sheesh. I'd not recommend it to those who take it more seriously than I do to spare them from headaches.

Characters change. Like... Ruby. She goes from a Wide-Eyed Idealist early on after tagging with DS to a violent, borderline Ax-Crazy Blood Knight who relishes in bloodshed. Being exposed to blood, gore and such broke her

Also, y'know how Marcus Black is a dead guy in canon shown in Mercury's flashbacks when he killed him? In here, he survived and became a Heresiarch of the cult operating on Remnant. He's armed with the fuckin' unmaker from Doom 64 and is so badass he can fight against Doom Slayer, Ozpin, Qrow and Hazel simultaneously. He's causing shit in Mistral with his unholy crusade currently. There's more

Oh and this is one of my favorite things in this story: The Slaves of Doom are actually former humans from ancient Remnant that had their souls fragmented when the Brother of Darkness wiped out Humanity during Salem's Rage Against the Heavens. The fragments were left adrift in the afterlife, filled with pain, rage, resentment, and all sort of horrible feeling. Before they, with the power of the Brother of Dark that destroyed them, twisting their souls and through sheer collective anger at the Gods and Salem for doing this, warped the empty space of the afterlife to create Hell. Which also twisted them into the Demons we see now. And after taking their rage out on each other for a time, the Demons eventually unite under the Icon of Sin to take their revenge on the Gods and Salem. I copied this from the work page but still And what's best about this in DOOM Eternal, it has been confirmed that demons are a result of human husks drained of their souls and left to slowly warp, twist into demons he fights. It confirms just about every demon DS went against Was Once a Man.

And in latest chapter, SDC proved to be absolute monsters. they think they can handle an ancient Slipgate that demons would use to invade Remnant en masse. Dr. Merlot and Jacques Schnee are doing the same crap UAC is doing. Oh and they used Doom Slayer's confiscated advanced weapons to test them on captive faunus. He has no reservation going after, and ripping and tearing, any SDC goon that stands in his way at this point. Fuck guards, soldiers, scientists. They deserve to fucking die.
