In that particular strip you reference, the man is trying to ingratiate himself with the woman. Either because she's his boss, or because he's hot for her. She finds this annoying and doesn't realize what he's up to, so suspects he's on drugs. The humor, such as it is, comes from the disconnect between what he's trying to do and her inability to see why.
Reading further on, he's trying to ingratiate himself with her because she's his boss, and she's not getting it because he's terrible at being likable.

This strip has run in my local paper for years. It's pretty good. Usually not gut-busting, but never horrendous like some of those legacy-strips with jokes from a machine. I kind of want to see what it'd be like without the syndicate's restrictions on space and content, if it had a little more room to breathe.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]

Anyone read Retail? I've had it recommended to me before, but I'm just not getting anything out of it so far. I've read lots of strips but have yet to find one that I find funny (I don't even get this one
, for instance), and I can't tell the characters apart.
Is this one of those things that's going over my head because I've never really had a "real" job, especially not one in retail? Or am I missing something else here?
