@Soban: You are aware you are proposing she became pregnant at 15? Just pointing that out, because I can't picture her participating in underground fighting rings in that state.
Other than that, I did say try to be realistic with the name. If that's her superhero moniker, fine, but what's her real name?
@mrminun: I don't see how piano-based magic would work, as I imagine lugging a piano around to crime scenes would be rather difficult.
As for the LEGO genetics thing, I'm not sure what you mean. An explanation would help.
@Taco: A motorcycle is fine.
@KSPAM: Just like in real life, moving from one country to another is an expensive proposition, and not everyone can afford it. (And even if they could, they would probably be under greater scrutiny in the process, due to being supers.)
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)@Soban: The part where I can't see anyone naming their kid "Sacre", and the part where no one has the actual last name of "America". Or in short, all of it.
If you want to put in her backstory that she legally changed her name to that, I can accept that, but at the least that's not the kind of name most parents give their kid. (And keep in mind that if she uses it as both her real name and her superhero name, the aforementioned daughter may be in danger...)
@mrminun: The piano idea sounds a little goofy. (If he's using some kind of telekinesis power to levitate the keys, why doesn't he just use that to fight?) I'd say go for a different instrument for that idea.
The injection thing is fine, as long as it's a temporary effect.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Ok, Cool, America was a top 50,000 last name in 1990 BTW. I changed her name to Kristin "Kris" Valas. If you don't like that one, Dawn Wolfe. And if you don't like that one, Chloe Smith. IRL I have a weird name so I have an affinity for weird names. (Weird names are cool)
Added a superhero name, Peacekeeper
- Name: Aidan Lee
- Age: 18
- Gender/Sex: Male/Male (although he often pretends otherwise online)
- Appearance: Something like this.
- Personality: Aidan doesn't like authority. Or rather, he doesn't trust it. He doesn't call himself a nonconformist (because seriously who the fuck does that), but he definitely seems to have a case of rebellion against order.
- Side: Unregistered
- Powers: What most would call "technoempathy" Aidan calls "Signal Redirect/Rewire" (he can never settle on one over the other). Speaking simply, it allows him to "communicate" with and manually control any machine more complicated than a steam engine using a variety of signals like radio and electromagnetic waves, making Hollywood screenwriters everywhere cream themselves. Since he can connect wirelessly to basically any machine, organic or inorganic, and hijack it, he's a force to be reckoned with if you rely on basically anything made after the Industrial Revolution. Since he operates the machines he controls manually however, it requires uninterrupted concentration, meaning hacking in a high stress situation or against complicated or large targets makes him vulnerable. He's hinted at wanting an Iron Man-esque suit of power armor before, but it seems acquiring such a thing is beyond even his abilities for the moment.
- Backstory: Originally, Aidan was never really a superhero at all. He was just a kid with a gift. And like most kids, he abused it maliciously. Illegal downloads and free memberships were the least of what he got away with thanks to his mastery over machines. Eventually though, his faffing about caught up with him when he accidentally got involved with a Belgian mob boss and a very angry luchadore. He found asylum first in MI 6 and then the CIA, who tried him and found him guilty of numerous acts of cyberterrorism. They offered him a job as a substitute for prison time, and he gladly accepted. As much as he disliked the idea of working for Big Brother or "the man", he found being someone's prison bitch even less appealing. However, when the time finally came for the implementation of the Super Card program, Aidan found himself on the wrong side of "the man" again, and refused to register despite officially being a government agent, effectively defecting from the CIA. Back on the lamb, his first acts of rebellion as a free man were to loop a techno remix of "Get Your Ass To Mars" through Cape Canaveral's PA system and redirect every hotlink on the CIA website to pictures of cats.

Mostly finished, thought I'd post it and finish the personality and other sections later.

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialI don't really understand how RFID works, but I know that it is very hackable.
Is that something he'd be able to manipulate?
For that matter, how do Super Cards work? Are they RFID based? With a technopath the specific mechanics will be important!
If it relies on electromagnetic waves, then yes. Basically any kind of technology that relies on electromagnetic waves or waves derived from them (like radio waves and microwaves), he can manipulate. His power is basically all around signal and information manipulation (which is why he's incredibly squishy, because if you can bend all technology around you to your will you have no right to be tanky). The only thing he can't do is manipulate sound waves and simple technology (kind of like how the sonic screwdriver "doesn't do wood").
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial@mrminun: Is it a piano or just a set of piano keys? You keep changing it.
@Soban: Good enough. Accepted.
@KSPAM: I'll make you be aware that the CIA (among...others) will consider finding you to be a top priority (see below explanation) and you will have to deal with that. If you're okay with that, I can accept you.
@Taco: Yes, it does use RFID. Yes, that does make him very dangerous (but I'm okay with that, since the government agencies will know that and act accordingly).
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)I'm fine with that (it's kind of hard to catch someone with access to the information network you're using to track them), but that does make me wonder. You never said if the other unregistered supers would be considered fugitives. I assume this is the case, in which case Aidan is pretty much gonna run a one man counterfeit operation for unregistered hero's RFI Ds
It's a little complicated. The police force itself doesn't really typically view them as such (they need all the help they can get against super-powered threats). It's the more behind-the-scenes agencies (FBI, NSA, CIA) that are going to be on the hunt (and they don't always trust the police on this matter).
You're accepted.

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Interest but have to think of powers that aren't going to be underpowered due to my attempts to ensure that my character is guaranteed to be within the setting's limitations on that sort of thing. I usually do that with supers. But anyway the question I have is how US-centric the characters should be. Kind of got the idea of someone who fled one country that's controlling and oppressive, then opposes the registration system after moving to the US because it reminds them of 'home' as it were.
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SHello gentlemen. How are you?
I've lurked on T Vtropes for ages and sacrificed countless hours to its endless articles, but this is my first time on the forums here. I didn't see anything along the lines of an intro forum so meh here I am. Hope you guys don't mind my newbieness >__>
Name: Joshua Kimball
Gender/Sex: Male
Appearance: Around 5'5", slim build (though he's working on that), short brown hair, big pointy nose, narrow cheeks, rather pale skin, green eyes, lots of freckles. Fairly unattractive, though not outright ugly. Joshua would prefer to use a firefighter's bunker gear for his costume but so far that hasn't worked out. Currently he's making due with a black leather biker jacket, ripped-up jeans, heavy steel-toed boots, and some spiky bracelets, all worn with a welding mask to hide his face. It's a pretty awkward look on his small frame, but it's cheap, lightweight, and the jacket doesn't catch fire easily. He carries a pair of blowtorches along with several smaller fire-making instruments.
Personality: Joshua considers himself an everyman just trying to make it and maybe do some good in the meantime. His lack of ambition has led him to a dead-end job as a data entry clerk in some boring office, but then again, a double life as a superhero will do that to your career aspirations. He's a pretty friendly guy, but a bit of a loner, afraid that if he lets people get too close his identity and "work" as a superhero could be compromised.
Side: Un-registered
Powers: Joshua considers himself a pretty good pyromancer, though he laments that he can't match up to all those showoffs who can just produce flame and heat from nothing at will. Joshua's power is to "steal" the energy of nearby combustion reactions; if he's within five feet of a burning object, he can draw part of its flame to him and hold it in his hand (visually this looks like a stereotypical fireball), then project it as an energy blast. He can't "store" this energy; he needs to stay near the fire to continue taking and tossing these fireballs from it. Additionally, their strength is proportional to the intensity of the fire he's using as a source. The flame from a blowtorch could be used to knock you flat, but if he's standing in a huge bonfire, he can throw RP Gs at you. Naturally, Joshua has the required secondary power of being unharmed by heat (actually, it tickles a bit).
Backstory: In school Joshua was kind of a nerd; he had a few friends, but not many. The bullying saw to that. After all, no one wanted to risk becoming a target by association. This made him pretty miserable until one day in junior high when the bullies thought it would be fun to try and burn him with a butane torch. Initially terrified and screaming, Joshua was quite confused when the flame touched his skin to no effect at all. A few broken bones later and voila, Joshua was expelled for using his newly-found powers to harass his fellow students, as the bullies told it at least. His family didn't disown him, but they did blame him for their having to move across the country; things weren't really the same after that. Joshua cut most ties to his parents at eighteen and settled into the lonely yet rather fulfilling life of a superhero.
Other: Joshua's landlord considers him pretty eccentric, though not without reason. Who still bothers to light a fireplace in the twenty-first century? Doesn't he know that we have central heating these days?

I enjoyed the second incarnation of this RP, I'm definitely interested.
Now I just have to decide whether I want to reprise Freefall (My gravity-controlling parkour street kid from the last game), or bring in a new character. I have two other ideas - a Flying Brick with a sun/heat motif, and either a scientist or an AI driving a suit of Power Armour. The latter might be completely screwed if they come up against Aiden, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I'm not the GM, so I don't know what exactly Totemic wants, but that looks really good so far. My only problem is that with the proximity that he needs to maintain, that might make everything he can do really limited.
- Name: Antoinette Rey - The Maestro
- Gender/Sex: Female
- Appearance: In casual attire, Antoinette likes long flowing skirts and bright pastel shirts. She has bleached hair, cropped into a bob of sorts, which is perennially messy. She's a bit on the short side, and smiles all the time. In costume, she wears a violet long sleeve button up shirt (With plenty of buttons undone, you're welcome KSPAM.) and a vest that is covered in a piano-esque pattern over it. She has a pair of black dress pants underneath it. In addition to this, she has black plastic Hair Decorations that look like black keys. To conceal her Identity, Antoinette has put black and white facepaint on.
- Personality: Antoinette could most easily be summarized as "That One Girl," as she is perky and annoying. Antoinette enjoys making jokes, and is extremely bubbly, to the point of being almost in Ditz territory. She falls under the Unregistered side because she doesn't think that everybody needs to take time out of their lives, and those of the civilians more importantly, just for a stupid card. Parody Sue was my plan with her, but I probably won't take it that far.
- Side: Unregistered
- Powers: A set of magical keys on a piano (See below for more details) that follow Antoinette around at command. They arrange themselves in order when she's standing still, and when running, they follow in a single trail, like a scarf or cape. The keys play notes as if they were attached to the actual piano base, and cause various effects when played. The results can be: flying at the target like a railgun, making platforms for Antoinette to stand on, whipping, and making a shield, among other things. Each command has its own melody that must be played to make it come into effect, but they're really short.
- Backstory: Antoine was born into a relatively high class Family in Quebec. When she was old enough; 5 years old or so, he took up piano. He grew to be quite a virtuoso. For his 16th birthday, he was given a dark violet piano. He went to his new gift immediately, and started playing. While he played, his keys were flying off the body of the piano. This was dismissed by his father, who mentioned something about his means of acquiring this. One day, he was home alone, when somebody broke in. Remembering the chord that made all the keys fly, he rushed to the piano, and scared away the intruder. His family thanked him for protecting them, and he always remembered that he did a good thing. When he moved out of his home at 20, he ordered his piano to be the first thing moved, with extremely safe shipping. He got it moved into his penthouse when he got to Felderton. Fast forward 7 years, and here he is now, using the piano for vigilante justice.
I know it seems a little silly, but this is the first thing I could come up with.

Uh![]()
You make the Sun Motif Flying Brick, I'll make the Moon Motif Flying Brick. :P
Alternatively, I'll directly oppose the technology guy with a nature guy/gal.
Either one will be up in a few hours if I feel I can keep up with the RP.
"You lost, Dio. You lost for one simple reason - you were using charcoal." - Hank Hill@bombadillo: You're fine with a foreign character, as long as they speak enough English to communicate. In regards to other countries, I would expect most cases would mirror their real life counterparts in terms of how conservative they are, then apply that to supers.
@CATS: Sorry, but you're going to have to completely revamp your character's powers. I can't really explain here (spoilers involved), other than to say that heat-based powers like that ruin something I already have planned.
@mrminun: I can't judge an incomplete character sheet.
(For future reference, it's easier for me if you just complete the sheet in one go, instead of posting a partial one.)
@Infinite: I'm going to have to limit it to one Flying Brick. Sorry.

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)That's not a problem.
I'll put up the nature guy first - if he doesn't fly and Gaunt doesn't make the Sun Brick, I'll try my hand at making the Moon Brick.
- Name: Alan Jackson. He's taken to using the name Gaius when doing heroic things to hide his actual identity.
- Gender/Sex: Male
- Appearance: Basically Jeff Bridges with dull blonde hair and a beard that extends a couple inches or so to about halfway down his neck.
It should be noted that in terms of attire this is essentially a clean homeless man, so he's wearing whatever he's deemed the next step up from rags.
- Personality: Alan is best described as a person who frequently has nobody in his corner and prefers it that way. If you're not one of the stark few people that gets where he's coming from and understand that his heart is in the right place, then you're more than likely going to keep on a last name basis with the guy for the rest of your life. He's never really been on good terms with any sort of authority figure in his life and he's not about to start now, being blunt honest and more than a little aggressive and condescending in daily conversation. Above all this, though, he's got a particular trait that's useful to remember if you want a powerful ally on your side - he always repays his debts.
- Side: Non-Registered. Probably known by the local PD and Registered Supers to work with whoever's at the scene, even if they're Registered, but he's not going to become a Registered Super unless captured and he will fight to keep it that way.
- Powers: Alan's power is... well... look, he's made of wood. As in, he was born with the particular power to mess with his genetic code and become a man-tree. His skin can be hardened by the bark of a great sequoia tree, and he can manipulate his internal temperature as if he was firewood, using that to blow thick clouds of smoke from his body by breath or willpower. For all intents and purposes, he's a tank - able to survive falls from pretty impressive heights and withstand mighty blows, Alan can take what you're dishing out. Funnily enough, though, while you may think burning him would be a solution, it actually makes him stronger, as in his 'tree form' he can absorb the flame and then make himself incendiary (He also gains some small heat resistance in human form.). Adversely, large amounts and/or bodies of water are a death sentence - if he's adequately submerged in it or soaked in it for about ten to fifteen seconds, he can be forced back to a human state entirely. Smaller amounts of water are fine, though, and if he's in human form he's perfectly fine either way.
- Backstory: The adopted son of an old Greek scientist, now deceased due to old age, Alan never really took an interest in his adoptive father's work or the life he clearly wanted his son to lead. He was a rebel his whole life and this generated great friction between the two. The fact that his father insisted on studying his son's abilities in secret like a lab rat did not help matters - they frequently came to blows over it, although neither party went overboard. Around the end of his father's life, they ended up mostly resolving their issues through life, moving on to a relationship or undetermined levels of respect. Alan's father made it clear in his final days that although he had not become what he wanted him to become, his 'little Gaius would surely become a man respectable beyond measure.' Alan never really got the chance to tell his father what he really thought of him, though, deciding that for his father, he'd use this power where he could.
- Other:
- Drives a fairly nice pickup truck around (which he lives in) and wields a woodcutters axe in combat.
- Works as a freelance lead guitar for whatever band in town that needs one.
- He's hidden the research that his father compiled on him somewhere where nobody but him can find it and has done what he could to ensure that nobody in particular can find out about it or him (although any government agency can at least do the latter easily).

Hmmmmm... question. Aside from "heroic duty" and all... what prevents the supers from just moving to a different country where the registration act has no jurisdiction? I mean, couldn't they just move to Canada or the UK and continue with their heroism, or has the law been enacted everywhere and not just the US?
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial
