My little D roy can't possibly be taking this so seriously.

But seriously, the only things that are good about this series is magitek system and stylish character designs.

I wonder if I should watch this, even for the sake or Bile Fascination.

Even at its worst Index wasn't this bad. At least it never felt like I was reading fanfiction for a fictional universe I didn't know existed.

In the holy name of Alcor, WHAT?! how could this win awards and sell so much when the protagonist is such a blatant gary-stu? EVEN NILS NIELSEN MADE MORE SENSE

I think that is actually exactly the reason why this is so popular.

Oh my God, I just realized.

This is basically Twilight for men, with incest instead of necrophilia.

@d Roy

Hold up there bro. You can't fuck both Miyuki and Mayumi.

Joking aside would this be something I should pick up? Random Curiosity's review piqued my interest as did a few post in this thread but I'm still a bit iffy on that.

I do greatly enjoy this series and the pointless hatedom in this thread isn't going to do anything to dissuade me from that (it is currently my joint favourite series of the season and of the things I still have to watch only Soul Eater NOT is likely to be beat it at present). From what I have read of the manga I like the magic system, the characters and the plot, and feel there is good action and humour as well here and there.

Well, I wouldn't call it this a pointless hatedom. There are some legitimate reasons to criticize this series, after all.

Criticize yes, but I feel you were going a little bit overboard there. Also some of the things being criticized are things I don't really call problems (the whole overpowered/Sue thing for instance). As well as this, saying things like "Who buys this shit?!" is a little rude, especially to someone who would buy it such as myself. I have nothing against you criticizing the series I just feel it could have been done in a more polite way, that is generally how I differentiate hatedom from criticism in any case.

Eh, this is an Internet forum, and it wasn't pointed at any specific person in this forum. I mixed in legitimate criticisms in as well, so I'm pretty sure that's perfectly within this site's policy.

With that said, fuck this series.

.......And yet I'm going to watch the next episode. Because I can.

Anyhow, I'm done with criticizing/ranting about the content from the first episode and the manga for now. I will return to this thread when the next episode airs.

As I said I have nothing against criticism, just the tone of the criticism. I do realise that you never meant any personal attack and I hope to not cause any offence myself. I will admit that this is just me being a little oversensitive to criticism of things I enjoy (a flaw I have had for years), it is just I have never understood why anyone would spend any time and energy on criticising things they dislike.

Simple, it's fun.

As long as you stay within the boundary (no personal attacks, for example), it is a legitimate and surprisingly popular hobby.

If haters are violating forum policy, you call the mods. Otherwise, you learn to deal with it.

Watched the shorts; which were amazingly terrible. Not much on the characters and the world info was a combination of pathetic and obvious.

This seems bad.

Are we talking Mahou Sensou bad or Valvrave the Liberator bad?

Hey, Valvrave The Liberator is awesome!

Hopefully, this show will be like it in terms of Narm Charm and self-awareness/unawareness.

Episode 2 was another good episode and has two of my favourite scenes from when I read the manga: 1-Tatsuya incest trolling - I found it very funny when I read it and I liked the deadpan delivery in this episodes. 2-Tatsuya getting a one-hit KO on the Jerk VP getting one-hit - I like how he was thinking how he would win the fight before getting his arse handed to him instantly.

I am liking the pacing of the series as well.

[up] I feel like the pacing absolutely sucks in light novel form, but here it's more like the kind of pacing I want from an anime.

I would like it if there were more fights. I don't know if we'll even end up seeing one an episode though.

The discrimination seems like a cheap way to get me to pick a side, but damn if it isn't effective.

I thought this was going to be a story about revolution: The big powerful main character with enough power to challenge the status quo sets out to get rid of discrimination once and for all.

By the end of manga chapter 22, though, the answer points to Big. Fat. NOPE.
