Man, those sure were some pretty cool action scenes and uses of magic that we were shown! It's such a shame that the writing stayed on its one-track objective, which is praising Onii-sama for doing the things that no-one else can replicate, and which everyone is amazed at.
Truly, we should all strive to achieve even a modicum of the greatness that Tatsuya holds.
Who the fuck could think that Tatsuya could die or even be injured for any meaningful amount of time? It's mind-baffling. Somehow, the author figured he should add some tension in there by causing negligible 'damage' to Tatsuya, to make his defeat of Masaki even cooler.
I pity Madhouse for having to adapt this god-forsaken thing.

I kinda doubt that adaptations are a one-sided deal.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyEpisode 16:
- Gotta admit, I laughed a bit at the cloaks. Erika got her kick out of it, too.
- Best action so far? Best action so far. Tatsuya, flipping and shooting like a boss. Because he is one.
- This epic fight comes with the 'unfortunate' side effect of Masaki becoming imperfect for a split-second. And then SNAP! And he was the downed.
- But really, Tatsuya in serious danger? Had to roll my eye at the forced tension there. Because as we all know, there's no one as perfect as Tatsuya.
- Miki took down George pretty well.
- Leo's quite sturdy, taking a blow from Masaki and getting up for the win. He even considers it less of a big deal than getting road-killed by a bike. Leo's sturdy, or Masaki got downplayed hard? Maybe both.
- Yes, Mikihiko. You're friends with monsters.
You're right, I completely expected this. Continuing to emphasize how much the writing sucks is like throwing a bucket full of water at a guy who just showered. We already know that.
The only reasons I'm still watching are because I don't want to leave something like this incomplete, because it has good production values and because I'm a bit of a masochist when it comes to things like this.
Episode 17:
- Tatsuya, you should have known that saying sweet nothings to Miyuki in front of everyone was gonna get you laughed at, right?
- Of course no one can stand up to actual flight...
- ...Which is why, by the finals, everybody's flying. But Miyuki was in this business longer. Nice effort, though.
- With that said... *Clap, clap, clap* Congrats, No Heads. Just congrats. You've rightfully earned the wrath of Shiba. Those were some scary looks, Tatsuya. No Heads, death is coming. Prepare thyselves. Chumps.

Er, a question...
When that First High competitor was saved from her malfunctioned CAD, Tatsuya said something about her not being able to be a magic user again since her doubts and fears of using magic took her over completely. That true?(Of course, screw the No Heads! Incompetent Triads giving other Triads a bad name...)
Crinias's log, Episode 17:
Another week passes with Sausage Onii-sama and his perfect, immaculate sister being awesome, and all the show's antagonists being incompetent. I don't know how much longer I can take this. Even the sudden display of Shiva's anger is no comfort.
It feels as though the sun won't rise after setting, or like driving in a foggy area - everything feels grey and distant. It's the same every week, over and over... how long until Nine Schools Competition ends?

I believe that has more to do with the innate trauma of the situation rather than anything directly magic related. And if nothing else, Tatsuya didn't sound too absolute about it.
Probably not going to see her again anyway, though, so it's likely not all that important of a detail.

So it's like Ars Magica? (You had a confidence stat you could throw as additional dice for many things. But if you failed, you couldn't use them till you did something to get it back. )
Although, as was mentioned, I suspect it's just a way to get rid of her for a while. I mean, I would think just telling her someone tampered with the cad would solve the problem.
Well Tatsuya sure showed those guys.
I feel like Jumonji's tackle move was really stretching the no physical contact thing.
I for one am glad the NSC is finally over.
What is with shows and random cgi dancing? I've seen it in more than a few shows recently and it always looks bad. Is it that hard to just draw people dancing?

It was nice to see Tatsuya legitimately unsure of his victory, not that it mattered but still.
The last set of flips and shots were pretty sweet. And that snap.
Apparently getting hit by large motorcycles is no big deal.
