Welcome to the Character Development Threads! These shared story exercises allow you to develop your characters in a setting shared by other authors and their characters. No sign-up is necessary; simply look over the last few pages and hop on in. If you need questions answered or a recap, head over to our discussion thread and ask; we’re happy to help. There's also a trope page (with location descriptions and other info).

Archipelago is semi-casual — no violence on the central island, but the rest are fair game. Other islands are built on-the-fly by the tropers whose visiting them, but you should probably grab a few others before having your characters head off — there's not much point wandering an island alone, since this is supposed to develop characters by bouncing them off one another and putting them in unusual situations. Be sure to communicate with the tropers you go with so you're on the same general page.

With thanks to, among many others, Gault, who came up with the initial idea, Nrjxll, who wrote the first draft I shameless ripped off, and the various people who contributed to the trope page location descriptions.

This has made the hub island something of a designated neutral ground for various strange characters and dimensional travelers. A small cluster of buildings has sprung up near the one natural harbor and its dock: a couple of bars, a couple of casinos, several shops, and even the cheap but comfortable Pax Island Hotel. This is not a tourist trap, though, as much as amenities for the visitors that come here for various reasons. The Hotel's entrance leads out to a central square, with a shamelessly cheesy tiki bar calling itself the Big Kahuna and the Pax Island General Store being the most obvious, though not the only, services.

Inland, the island is covered in jungles that rise steeply into a central mountain, covered in ruins that don't seem to exactly match any of the local cultures. Apart from that, though, they're harmless and unrelated to the area's strangeness. The population on the island, humans of mixed origins, are quite used to the strangeness of their island, staffing the amenities and filling newcomers in but otherwise keeping to themselves.

Beyond this hub island, the archipelago grows more mysterious and dangerous. Fogs often cover the ocean, and compasses and other forms of navigation don't always work right. There are at least a half-dozen other islands at any one time, but that's all anyone can say for certain. The docks on the hub island offer numerous boats for visitors to travel to these islands, either under their own control or with the aid of a local sailor. Of course, there's always an element of risk involved with visiting these islands, because you never know quite what you'll find. One rule has proven consistent, though: any truly catastrophic event on an island tends to result in it vanishing into the fog, never to be seen again.

Kaguya looked up at Cyana from the lander. "Well...actually, these are probably never going to go back." She stood up. "I'm not quite sure on all the details, but the people who left them here didn't stay very long. To get off the moon, they needed to drop this part," she motioned at the lander standing before her, "So that they could get enough lift to get back to Earth."

She then glanced and gestured towards the planet in question. Her eyes briefly fell on the typhoon again. For a moment or two, she looked upon it worriedly, before shaking her head and turning back towards Cyana. "And this was after throwing out a bunch of other stuff to lighten the load, which explains why this place looks a little...um...." She looked around the site for the discarded objects she spoke of, "...messy. Not exactly the best way of doing it, but I guess they didn't have any options...."

She shrugged. "At least, I think it was something like that. I haven't actually looked up this stuff in a while; I've had...other, more important things to worry about."

I think this roughly how it went, but I'm far from certain and probably got a few details (if not everything) wrong. Kaguya probably can't be expected to get everything right anyway.

[Pax Island ~ Town Center (Walking to Hotel)]

"Oh." Howell said, sounding half disappointed, and half amused at how obvious the answer turned out to be. "I've never heard that before. I guess it makes sense though. A dollar and thirty sense to be specific." The edges of his mouth almost touched on a smile, but it faded before manifesting in complete.

"Wish I could make peace," he murmured, speaking more to himself than to Adam, "but I'd have to make it with everyone here... everyone back at the restaurant who had to listen... anyone my sister yelled at while trying to find me... ...me." he frowned with his eyes and a light, inward sigh. "Statistically, there's a bad chance I can ever figure out who all to make peace with, and a good chance that, even then, they won't all want my peace."

He lowered his head again, walking like that for a few seconds before glancing at Adam and saying, "Thanks for trying to...you know.. make things a little better though. Want ten dollars?"

[Pax Island ~ Hotel (Lobby)]

No longer under the threat of Thomas's hostility, Duncan moved his chair back to his desk properly, as though some toxic barrier had just dispersed. He tapped his pen against the desktop, then shrugged and suggested, "Well... hey, maybe you've just got to give it time, ah? And it'll wear off by itself? I think that possibly could have been what happened to me. Otherwise..."

He scooted his chair slightly to the side, over to the desk's phone. "I'd like to avoid letting my boss know that I was wasn't doing my job while incapacitated, but I could see if there's any sort of precedent or guidelines for a situation similar to this one." he reached for the rather elegant receiver, lifting it off of it's stand and pressing it to his ear as he continued, "I mean, I highly doubt it; this seems a strange case for the hotel to be dealing with, but uh... well, I haven't been here for very long myself, and they didn't cover this in my specific crash cour- pfffwwt-"

Duncan had just pressed the mouthpiece closer to his mouth, and was greeted by a peculiar fluttering sensation tickling his lips. He took the receiver away from his ear, and discovered a small sticky note attached to the mouthpiece.

"Wha... hey... hey, this is from that magician— the Mud guy you're looking for. Same handwriting as what he put in the guestbook... oh, and it mentions a duck." With a look of perplexity still lingering on his face, Duncan peeled off the note and held it out to Thomas.

It read: For the angry duck, dial 1-800-384-3642

"Oh, I probably should have been more specific," Cyana said, "I didn't mean the equipment, I meant it was a shame that humans took so long to return to the moon, after these trips. Although, I suppose that would be in your future, so let's leave it at that."

Then, looking up at the Earth, she said, "is there something bothering you? It's quite a sight as well, if you'd like a closer look?"

[ruin entrance] Please forgive me if this seems awkward; I'm new to this whole opposite-gender flirting thing

Non-divine-slash-demonic-slash-cosmic-slash-whateverthefuck visitors at last. They just felt much more agreeable, for a lizard-person and an admittedly stunning Negro woman, from what little he could see of her. But he could see the goddamn lizard-person thanks to his mostly-white front, of course. Hell, was it even a lizard at all? Screw it, he was a physicist, not a biologist.

"Just admiring the view." Kunstler stepped back slightly and let the flames illuminate him, subtly beckoning them. He quirked a subtle smile, adding, "I ought to ask the same of you."

Aseyu greeted him with a smile and said, "curiosity. I hear about a bunch of ruins in the middle of the jungle, and I figure, since I'm not particularly in the mood to sleep, might as well see if there's anything interesting." She looked Kunstler over and added, "so far, so good." Then she walked up to him. He seemed Western, or something like it, so she offered a hand and said, "Aseyu ul'Valmoth vash'Suela. A pleasure to meet you."

"Oh...um...right. Of course," Kaguya said, with a slight blush. Of course she'd misunderstand what Cyana was saying. "At least you...um...may or may not have learned something new...? Maybe?" She shook her head. "Er...I'm fine leaving it there, I guess."

She followed Cyana's gaze up to the Earth again. "Well, it feels like we just got here, and I'd still like to see more of this site if nothing else. But when we leave, there is something that's bothering me...." She pointed at the typhoon, which at this distance wasn't even the size of her fingertip. She somewhat doubted that Cyana would recognize it for what it was, but she decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. "You see that swirly cloud formation right there...?"

Samuel put his head up after a poke from his Device and looked around-Kaiser and Allah, what is that? It was perhaps the conceptually ugliest and yet most complex casting he'd ever seen directly, one obviously done by intuitive grasp of magic rather than precision manipulation.

Samuel came off the couch rapidly and took two steps back. That was dimensional manipulation. High power, displacement and ties. Not too dissimilar from that which made his Device tick, but you couldn't, or at least really really shouldn't, do that to living things.

"Well, I was waiting for someone, and..." Forsythe pointed to sea, where a bright blue dot was visible on the horizon. "I think that's them. Drive flare anyways." The dot soared up towards the zenith, fast, despite is small size, before slowly spiraling down from there. It looked more like an aircraft, although the split rear and general shape suggested a Taurus that had somehow reconfigured to fold its arms in and make the upper body an airfoil.

That was proved when the edges of the wings slid up, exposing the arms, and the legs unlocked, and it settled in next to the other Taurus in kneel. "You okay, El-Tee-Cee?" it asked over speakers.

"Yeah, fine." Forsythe said. "Don't suppose you brought a backup operating system for the movement comps?"

[Azatha's Fortress - Throne Room]

Sam shrugged. "Well, if it's power you want, I'm sure we can work something out." He walked up to her throne and bowed quite dramatically, his hat staying firmly upon his head in full defiance of gravity, and then he presented the flowers to her. "For you!" He said. "And I really think you ought to give the power of persuasion a bit more credit, but suit yourself." He chuckled.

Were Azatha to sniff the flowers, she might be close enough to hear their screams.

[Nulbarak Island]

"Oh, yeah, cool." Said Tamara, sounding definitively unenthusiastic. "Go for it." She crossed her arms. "Be careful, and hurry back. We'll wait here, I guess." She said, trying to sound less indifferent.

Uhg. I bet she's so fucking proud of herself. Thought Tamara, bitterly. I wish I could do that.

If Askeda was sufficiently stealthy, she would find the bandits' base just a short distance from where she'd began. A tall, rectangular stone building with a flat top surrounded by battlements rose out of the scenery, partially camouflaged by near-by trees, erosion and vines. It appeared to be a tower from an old castle, though the rest of the structure was nowhere to be seen.

Out front were two very large, intimidating wooden doors with a standing torch placed on either side of them. The light was fairly dim, but with Tamara's night-vision spell in effect, details would still be very clear to Askeda. There were also two guards by the doors, both wielding crossbows and wearing tattered leather armour. They were talking quite loudly, complaining about how bored and tired they were.

At the top were two more guards. They worse steel chainmail and held AK-47s in their hands. Their guns had bright flashlights taped to them, and the guards periodically peered over the battlements and examined the area around the tower. They were not chatting, and seemed much more disciplined than their counterparts by the doors. The lights were bright enough to hurt Askeda's eyes, should she look into them, though they would not be able to disrupt her ability to see in the dark.

There was no telling what was inside; all the windows appeared to be boarded shut. Even so, Askeda would be able to sense a powerful magical presence within the structure...

Not entirely dead.

[Pax Island ~ Ruin Entrance]

Joe had been expecting Aseyu to make some mention of him, but none came. He stood there, glancing left and right as though the perfect opportunity to introduce himself was going to arrive from the side. But that didn't come either. So he kept standing there, silently, opening or almost opening his mouth, only to be interrupted by someone else's words, or a gesture, or a magic gust of wind that couldn't be seen or heard or felt.

It was always frustrating to know in his mind that something was not a big deal, and yet to be so hung up on it regardless. He sometimes wondered if it was some sort of disorder, or just a an annoying behavior that he couldn't seem to kick. Always over thinking things. Too cautious. So focused on doing something perfectly, yet that same focus seemed more often than not the precedent to his own tiny ruinations. And there he was, standing in the dark, unable to introduce himself because he couldn't find the right opportunity.

All the right opportunities have passed. You blew it, bozo.

Why was it so important anyway? Sure there was some guy he hadn't met before, and he didn't want to look like an idiot in front of a stranger, but it didn't seem likely that staying silent would do anything to help that. Maybe it was because the guy was so big. Joe already had to deal with being over half a head shorter than Aseyu, he didn't exactly like the idea of being demoted from second to third smallest person present. Maybe he felt the need to compensate with something else, but... he couldn't think of what. Besides being a giant talking lizard at that moment, Joseph felt fairly unremarkable. And why couldn't he just say his name?

He looked down at his clawed fingers, counting off and making other gestures in the palm of his hand, as though there was something highly important on his mind. So important that he couldn't speak. So damn important that he couldn't say anything at all. Oh damn it.

Jackson quirked an eyebrow. "You sure you can do that?" He looked at the envelope, then back at Hisami, even more suspicious. "'Generic Curse Removal...?' That's really the name of the people you work with?"

[Town Center-Walking to Hotel]

Adam smiled. "I'm glad I could help." When Howell offered a ten dollar bill, his eyes widened. "Oh...well...um... thank you. That's really nice of you." He gently took the dollar bill and put it in his right pocket. "O-oh! Maybe I should give you something too. I almost forget that I had in my pocket earlier."

He reached into his left pocket and held out a twenty for Howell. "Here. You can have this if you want."

[Hotel (Lobby)]

Thomas listened to Duncan, still feeling guilty that he could not catch Mud in time. How he easily missed that the old "clerk" (if he even worked there—he sincerely doubted it now) was up to no good, and now his son's friend had the misfortune of running into him.

Then, when he took the note from Duncan and read the note, his eyes widened. There was still a chance to turn Jackson back after all. He could still find a way to reach this man. But does this mean he's still on the island? Or did put that in there before he left? Either way, this just may be our last chance.

"Sir..." he said slowly, "...Thank you. Thank you so much." Without warning, he grabbed Duncan's hand and shook it, "You just may of saved someone."

"You mean the typhoon?" Cyana said, looking at it, "they are impressive, even from this far away."

"Also, sorry if I'm not terribly clear at times," she said, "auditory languages are difficult for me, even with all my practice."

She then paused for a moment, looking at Kaguya again, and said, "as you should know, unlike you, I am destined to wander the multiverse, and have been to many moons and many earths throughout time, so don't worry about me - just think of me as your tour guide. Ask me whatever you want, and I can show you experiences beyond imagination - you never know, we might even learn a little bit about each other."

[Big Kahuna]

"Hah! No, silly, that's so I don't get this envelope mixed up with the other ones," Hisami said, "I've got ones for all sorts of things, like: size change, telecommunications, financial fortune, car jump start, good luck, water into vodka, x-ray vision, locate lost keys, ward off demons, you know, the standard stuff." She pulled out an envelope with a matching name for each item in her list, and set them down on the table in a small pile.

"Why? Something else you're interested in as well?"

[Beach - Near Robot]

"That's awesome!" Takuya said, totally unsuccessful at remaining professional. Calming down a bit, and bowing at the new craft, he said, "I, Takuya Matsumoto, humbly offer my services if I could be of any assistance in this matter."

"Oh, and those of my assistant Yuuta as well," he said, pointing to Yuuta over in the other group, "I'm sure he has nothing more important to do."

[Azatha's Fortress - Throne Room]

"Oh, uh, how, charming," Azatha said, with more than a hint of sarcasm. She also neglected to sniff them, being plenty close to hear them. "Ugh, I need some minions so I can ask them to put those somewhere. Here, uh, give them to my robot butler," she said, waving her hand as a small toy-like robot came out from a door on the right side of the room, wheeled over, and motioned to offer to take the flowers from Sam.

"Now, where were we?" Azatha said, "ah, yes, the whole 'we can work something out' - with no terms. This is a business negotiation, not a date. Don't forget that."

Red lasers then sprung out from the Robot's eyes, (attempting to) incinerate the flowers. Obviously, Sam can stop this if he wants to.

"Now are you going to cough up some details, or do I need to call my lawyer to understand anything you're saying?" she said.

I'm not entirely sure if Azatha is really good at negotiating, or terrible at it. Either way, she only has one style. :P

Howell glanced at Adam's twenty, looking confused for a moment. When he finally processed what he was given, he gave a bit of a groan, a bit of a sigh, a roll of his eyes, and tried in vain to resist smiling.

He took the twenty and held it up to his face, looking it over as though there were something special about that particular bill. After a few seconds, he shrugged, and said, "It's not gonna fit. If I take this, you'll have to take these." then he reached into his pocket and, after a few more seconds, managed to draw out two five dollar bills. He handed them out to Adam with one hand, while trying to replace their miniscule spot in his pocket with the twenty dollars he had in his other hand, crisscrossing his arms in the process.

[Pax Island ~ Hotel (Lobby)]

The young desk clerk blinked, still looking rather surprised about the note's appearance. He went along with Thomas's hand shake, shaking the man's hand in turn, saying, "Uh... sure, yeah, not a problem. Heh, any time."

Duncan smiled, raising his eyebrows at the strangeness of the whole situation, then—realizing that he was still holding the phone receiver in one hand, he offered it to Thomas, turning the dial pad to face him as well.

"I guess you're probably going to want to use this then."

He returned her greeting. "Adrian Kunstler." He was still taller than her, but up close, she looked even more impressive than he thought, a far cry from his tiny wife.note  Well, aside from the... robe. And the fact that she was barefoot. (Not that he was going to complain.) And her strange-looking lizard friend. It had claws, too? What the hell was it doing with her?

"Shall we go on?" Kunstler turned slightly towards the structure in the center, a rotunda encircled with columns that he honestly hadn't really paid much attention to because he wanted to finish his cigarette first.

Aseyu said, "certainly. But first," she gently put a hand on Joseph's back and gave him an encouraging push forward. "I think I'll let my shy friend here introduce himself."

Kunstler was, she had to admit, pleasant to look upon in a more conventional way. She wondered how Joseph would feel if she made an effort to seduce him next. Then again, it came down to more than just physical appearance — she'd never slept with anyone just because they were attractive. If he caught her interest, she'd have some fun with him. If not, so be it.

[Nulbarak Island]

She'd seen that trick before, but without the adrenaline of combat, it looked different. "That," she muttered, "is creepy. And... can dividing your spirit up like that possibly be healthy?" She shuddered. "Thank Amu she's on our side." She looked between Elisif, Kevin, and Tamara. "Is anyone else wondering how she keeps all those eyes and wings and stuff straight? Makes my head hurt thinking about it."

Well there it was, and none too soon either. Though Joseph would have preferred something a little more casual than a push into the spotlight, he supposed it was his fault anyway. Take initiative, and you don't get left behind. Still, better to make use of the opportunity he'd been given before the situation became too awkward.

Joe stepped forward, even after being nudged, then stuck his hand out and—with a smile that he hoped was more respectable and businesslike than goofy—introduced himself.

The majority of the ravens took off into the sky, leaving one behind on a branch. The remaining raven flared its wings at Layi. "Can't be that bad," said Askeda. "I've been doing this for plenty of time, now, and it hasn't hurt me yet. Oh, and before you say anything about one of the bodies dying: harmless, aside from the brief initial shock. I've had that happen before."

Askeda adjusted her feet on the branch. "As for keeping track of everything, you get used to it. You can keep track of all your fingers, right? And the slightly different images you get from two eyes. 'But those're fingers,' you say. 'Nothing like this.' Well, why shouldn't they be different?" She waved a wing dismissively. "I won't deny that, yes, it is incredibly complicated. But, given enough time, you can get used to it."

Meanwhile, the flock was observing the camp, careful to stay out of sight. Through their eyes, Askeda took everything in. After a moment's silence, she said to her group, "Alright, so there's a tower that looks like it was part of a larger complex. Gone now. Two guards at the entrance; talking loudly, so obviously meant to be cannon fodder. They've got crossbows, though. Two more at the top, with guns, but ones with flashlights, so the group doesn't have enough money for night vision goggles. Might as well have a sign saying, 'We're looking this way now.' The ones up top seem better trained. All windows boarded shut and I can feel some magic inside the tower. Can't give you anything specific at the moment, though."

She was quiet for another moment, then asked, "Anyone good at climbing?"

Adam was taken aback when Howell gave him more money.

"M-Mr. Howell," he said, smiling nervously, "Y-you really didn't have to do all that. Honestly." He handed some of it back, "Thank you, though. That's really nice of you."

Nathan glanced back at his brother and Howell, relieved to see that the two of them were getting along so well. It still made him sad knowing that Howell had to leave the very next day. But, at the very least, he was comfortable with Adam.

He looked down at Hayate. "You've been awfully quiet."

Thomas nodded and gently took the phone from Duncan. "Yes, I do. This just may be my one and only chance to get this man."

Well, its voice seemed masculine, as did its- his name. So... he supposed he was going to have to be nice to him.

"Fine, thank you," he said as he accepted Joseph's hand. Oh, strange. The palms were almost... leathery. Kunstler did a polite nod-thing, then let go and turned, once again, towards the rotunda.

Now that he thought of it, maybe he did see what was in there. Books, perhaps? Yeah, that would explain why he didn't head in. He deposited his spent cigarette, now just a bit of paper as it lacked a filter, into one of the sconces.

[Pax Island ~ Ruins Entrance]

Once Adrian had turned away, Joe let out his breath, only just realizing that he'd been holding it in the first place. His eyes flitted towards Aseyu and lingered on her for a moment, before he looked away at a nearby tree.

At least Adrian seemed like an alright guy, from what tiny bit the man had shown. Seemed okay with talking to a giant lizard, shaking his hand and whatnot. Maybe he was from a place where those sorts of things were common. Maybe he'd seen someone very like Joseph before. Or maybe he was just a guy who knew enough to expect strange people in strange places. In any case, he seemed alright, though even before setting into the ruins, Joe knew that he was going to miss the peaceful, singular companionship he'd had with Aseyu.

His mind threatened to think too much of it, so he focused on what Adrian had said. Unfortunately, he didn't know any interesting things that finding the ruins of an archive on the island would imply, so all he offered was a thoughtful, "Hm."

[Pax Island ~ Town Center (Walking to Hotel)]

Howell held his hand up, refusing the money.

"Listen Adam, being a despicably greedy moneygrubber, I'd love to keep it, but I've really not got any room left in my money pocket." He said, patting his jacket pocket, which, contrary to his words, wasn't nearly full, even after he'd added in the twenty dollar bill Adam had given him. "Also, you mean Mr. Brooksley." he corrected, "Or 'Young' Mr. Brooksley if my dad is in the room and you don't want to confuse us. Howell is just my hey name, Brooksley is my mister name."

[Pax Island ~ Hotel (Lobby)]

Duncan returned to the guest book, but all managed to do was pick up his pen before glancing back at Thomas, watching curiously as he made the call.

The receiver buzzed only twice before connecting. On the other end, there was a loud cough, a clearing throat, and a man's voice, which sounded a little tinny over the phone. "Mmhmm, yes yes, Eugen Aristides, for Pax Island local curse breaking, hex removal, spell reversal... eh, general riddance of unwanted magics. In what order of business may I be of help to you at this... wonderful hour?"

[Near Robot]

"Sorry Boss," the second suit replied.

Forsythe winced. "I told you, don't call me Boss!" she yelled up. She turned to Takuya. "Offer's appreciated, but I think I'm just going to have to wait and see if it can sort itself out, or wait for a transport. And then finally get out to that other island I was supposed to visit on my way in."

[Hotel Lobby]

Samuel approached carefully to the desk and phone and stopped a respectful distance away, pitching his voice so he'd be noticeable, but not interrupt the phone conversation. "If you both don't mind, I'd like to see this."

[Beach - Near Robot]

"Jeez - it seems like I'm totally useless here!" Takuya said, sounding a bit lost as to what else to suggest. "Well, we did come in on a yacht, maybe I could take you to the island you were going to?"

"Which one was it, or is it easily recognizable?" he said.

Going to be busy Monday and Tuesday, and may or may not have time to post.

Town Center (Walking to Hotel)

Up until this point, Hayate had been silently watching Howell and Adam talk, and planning his own words for when Howell would be ready to speak with him. That time was certainly not now, but he was patient and was willing enough to wait for however long it would take.

He looked up at Nathan when the latter spoke to him. "I am quiet, for I have nothing worthwhile to say," he responded, "I have stated everything I could possibly state about the circumstances. Unless you have a question you would like to ask me...?"

Selena raised an eyebrow at all the envelopes Hisami pulled out, followed with an odd look aimed at Hisami herself, then at Jackson.

"A couple questions," she asked, "First, what's actually in those envelopes? Just contact information, or stuff that'll actually let you do all that shit? Secondly..." She paused for a moment as she figured out a way to best word her own predicament, "..You got something for dealing with unwilling, spontaneous teleportation in there?"

Kaguya post will come later; I'm completely stuck on what to have her say but didn't want to keep the other two areas waiting.

[Pax Island ~ Ruins Entrance —> Ruins Library]

Aseyu looked between Adrian and Joseph and, deciding they seemed to be in an agreeable mood towards each other — even if Joseph looked somewhat crestfallen to have extra company — said, "so, gentlemen, shall we venture forth into the great unknown?" Without awaiting an answer, she started towards the ruins.

[Town Center-Walking to Hotel]

Adam reluctantly took the money back and put in his pockets, "Ok, Mr.-" he quickly realized how odd it would be to call someone who was the exact same age as him 'Mr.', and ultimately decided to drop it. "...Ok, Howell."

He quickly fixed his ponytail, before continuing on, "By the way, sorry for not introducing myself properly earlier. I know I get nervous easily, and I bet that was making you feel bad..."

Nathan shook his head. "No; I just wanted to say sorry about the whole mess. I promise you, we really didn't expect things to turn out the way they did." He shrugged, "I'm just hoping we didn't make you too uncomfortable."

[Hotel (Lobby)]

Thomas glared, and his voice became very low.

"So, Mud," he said, "I'm just going to cut to the chase; My name is Thomas Riverson. I'm pretty sure you remember turning a boy into a duck today, right? Well, that boy just so happens to be hanging out with me, and he desperately wants to turn back to normal. So," he tapped on the desk, "I want two things; an explanation as to why you did it, and how we can turn him back to normal. ASAP."
