How funny is it when a Youtube Poop made a joke about Reboot getting rebooted before it actually got rebooted?
My angry rant blog!Cautiously optimistic. I'd like to see more of ReBoot, really enjoyed it when I was younger. Don't want it to be a complete retread of the old show though.
But that's a story for another time....I'm kinda glad, honestly, that I never saw Season 4. While it means there's a villain that was never dealt with, at least it didn't end on a cliffhanger.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"
Dude, go watch it. That was arguably the best season. Lots of cool sh-t happened.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).You know, I just heard about this. I might have heard about it before but it just sunk today. Reboot is probably the last show that would ever need a reboot. Even if they do not want to actually finish the show they already started, because of an expired voice actor or something, there are an infinite number of worlds and many story elements that have yet to be used by the show.
Since the show first started the internet expanded exponentially and continued to do so since the show ended, so why not just set a spinoff season in one of those new systems, base it around patrolling this ever growing web, or maybe discuss how the net has not only gotten larger but its faster. Then there are all sorts of things hinted at but not touched on like higher levels of cyberspace. None of this requires the story to be set in mainframe.
Then we get into the plot points that would require the story to leave mainframe anyway. Daemon infected 92% of the net. Even if her ultimate function was not fulfilled there is still going to be a serious amount of fallout from that event. Oh, and Hexadecimal fragmented across just as many systems. In a "benign" way but there should still be a whole new generation of viruses based on her code. Will they all be benign too? It sound interesting enough and mainframe does not even need to be involved, in fact just cutting to how it affected mainframe would undermine the significance.
Seeing a setting that has infinite possibilities, some of which were explicitly spelled out, get "rebooted" makes me want to quit all work forever and get a television writing job. Even when handed a setup with an established audience that allows them to do anything they still do something that comes off as lazy by comparison and get away with it. If only I had realized this when they were all on strike. (Even a continuation of the mainframe plot is only halted by respect for the dead, Megabyte does not actually need his original voice anymore because his format has changed to a different type of virus)
That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastesSo we now have a small plot summary for the show (2 years later):
http://www.rebootrevival.com/?p=1369
So we have a whole new plot and characters apparently, and...a multiplatform show? That'll be interesting to see...

"If I reach for the stars, you can't hold me back"Well, this better be worth the wait.
"We be we baby!"Hmm. Sounds like an In Name Only adaptation. But that may still be OK if written well (and the original characters show up at some point.)

We Cyberchase/Code Lyoko Now.
So it's Code Lyoko now? Could be interesting.
So, ReBoot won't actually BE ReBoot. How nice.
Sounds like they took every possible way they could fuck up the source material, put it in a container, shook it a few times and poured out the results.
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty. So the reboot of Reboot is a remake of Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad? Makes sense.
Kind of disappointing if that's the direction they take because it's already covered with shows like Code Lyoko, .hack and the TRON franchise, but on the other hand if cyberspace is portrayed as an actual breathing universe with thousands of systems, traveling around the net, colorful characters and dangerous viruses, with it not something intentionally programmed by the users, that would reflect the unique qualities of the show.
It's been two years, but YTV and Creator/Rainmaker Entertainment have officially announced the live action-animated hybrid reboot of... Code Lyoko: Evolution! I mean, ReBoot!
Cast Includes Ty Wood, Sydney Scotia, Ajay Parikh-Friese, Gabriel Darku, and Hannah Vandenbygaart
VANCOUVER, BC – WOW! Unlimited Media’s Mainframe Studios and Corus Entertainment are pleased to announce that production is underway in Victoria/Vancouver, B.C. on the live-action elements of ReBoot: The Guardian Code, a 20×22 minute live-action/CG-animated hybrid television series. This next phase of production reimagines the original 1994 animated classic, ReBoot, in a real life setting for modern, tech savvy audiences. Created by Michael Hefferon, the show follows four teenagers who discover that they’ve been selected to become the Next-Generation Guardians of cyberspace. ReBoot: The Guardian Code will premiere in Canada in 2018 on YTV.
After playing the multiplayer Cyber Guardians video game together, four teenagers are recruited by V.E.R.A (Hannah Vandenbygaart, Bruno & Boots: Go Jump in the Pool!), the Virtual Evolutionary Recombinant Avatar, to fulfill their mandate to mend and defend cyberspace. Austin (Ty Wood, The Haunting in Connecticut), Tamra (Sydney Scotia, Some Assembly Required), Parker (Ajay Parikh-Friese, Mr. Young), and Trey (Gabriel Darku, Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments) now must protect cyberspace from threats that pose true consequences to both the virtual and real world. It’s more than these kids expected when they started at Alan Turing High. Way more.
ReBoot: The Guardian Code intercuts live-action scenes with awe-inspiring CG animation produced with the Unreal game engine, showing how the real world and cyberspace are interconnected. “The power of the game engine’s capabilities to create vast cyberspace settings along with AI (Artificial Intelligence) for dynamic secondary animation fused with live action, will deliver a truly unique and engaging experience for viewers”, says Creator and Executive Producer Michael Hefferon. “As groundbreaking as the original ReBoot was being the first ever CG animated series, ReBoot: The Guardian Code takes it to a whole new level.”
This innovative series will also deliver true 360-degree engagement experiences for audiences with interactive mobile games, a digital trading card game that syncs with the broadcast of the series, and a Virtual Reality experience that puts fans right in the middle of the cyberspace action. More details to be announced at a later date.
ReBoot: The Guardian Code is produced by Mainframe Studios in association with Corus Entertainment, with Executive Producer/Producer Michael Hefferon, Executive Producer/Showrunner Larry Raskin, and Matt Sheppo, the Production Executive for Corus. The action-comedy series is directed by Co-Executive Producer Pat Williams, and Michael Dowding is the Supervising Director of Animation. Corus Entertainment’s YTV is the Canadian broadcaster with Nelvana Enterprises handling worldwide distribution, licensing, and merchandising for the series.

yeah, i guess. (i honestly have not brought myself to seeing the entirety of reboot)
MIALike clockwork. Every two year they pretend they are actually doing this.
I remember that Reboot was a thing, and watching it when it was on, but I couldn't tell you about any of the characters or anything that happened in the show to save my life. So nothing they change will effect me honestly. I'd pretty much be going in with fresh eyes, but TBH I don't remember it being that interesting so I'm not too interested in seeing it either.

So instead of having the show be about computer AI living in a digital world ala Tron and occasionally participate in video game simulators that determine the fate of their world its this Code Lyoko rip off.
Yep. This is going to be In Name Only. They don't even have Bob or Dot or Megabyte.
Don't Judge me, need more views: https://www.deviantart.com/big-k-2011 | https://bigk1337.newgrounds.com/ | https://twitter.com/BigK64133So help me god if this is some April Fools' Joke... I can't be held responsible for what I might do over the next 24 hours.

...
...I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
Seriously, magic space rocks, just finish us off already.
What, Samurai Jack gets a faithful continuation, so Reboot has to get the crap end of the stick? Is this some sick, cosmic joke?

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Don't look at it like that.
Samurai Jack was left unfinished, and is now getting finished. Reboot was done, and never in need of continuing. Just rewatch the original, nothing is stopping you from doing that.
My angry rant blog!Uh, you know that Reboot ended on cliffhanger?
(3) They only beat me by 1... quite possibly several hours. (1)
But same difference - Reboot was not done. It's an infamous case of an animated series flat-out never being finished - Gargoyles, Exosquad, Spectacular Spider Man, etc. Reboot literally ends with Megabyte's final line.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!
Reboot? Childhood Nostalgia?
Nah.
