A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

Just had lunch as well. Made nachos with steak, a leftover can of chilli, melted cheddar, sour cream, and hot sauce; using jalapeno doritos for chips.
As regards to the pilot, I have a slight broad strokes tendency. Most of it happened, but the Word of God and bits just seem kinda off from what it later jelled into. It was a potential plot device for later stories, but "the stars will aid in her escape" bit never came up after that.
Not necessarily a dropped anything, just, something that hasn't had a reason to come up, and, what 'broad strokes'? Everything that happened, happened as seen. And do love the theory that the prophecy was dual natured. it wasn't about the Stars the set her free from the moon. But rather referring to Twilight's Cutie mark, and how she was the one who set Luna free of NMM.

Still, they never really explained the stars that helped NMM. Sure, Twily helped free Luna; but it's never addressed who/what let NMM free from her imprisonment. IDK if Ms. Faust ever had any plans to elaborate on that.

"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkThere was a pretty clear shot of some stars going towards the moon, too, so it felt like there was something going on there.
Plus the nature of Luna's corruption was never really expanded upon, even with the flashback juice, unless you count the comic which a lot of people don't. So, yeah, I'd say a lot of what went on in the pilot has now become broad strokes in terms of what affects the current plots.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.I think Faust said somewhere that she left the stars thing open for other writers to play with if they wanted. But it looks like they sort of let that fall by the wayside.
Apparently Luna will be dealing with nightmares next season, so maybe we'll get some more explanation on exactly what was happening with her corruption.
Faust left just about everything open. The policy was that if it didn't appear in the show proper, then it wasn't canon. This was to leave room for any adjustments so that she didn't commit herself to anything that might be contradictory when creating future content.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiBroad strokes from the original intent, at least. Like, the original direction. And depending on how the nightmare stuff turns out, the source of Nightmare Moon. It's not that anything has been directly defied, but things certainly aren't moving the same way as they were planned to.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Yes what does that have to do with the pilot being 'broad strokes'? Any associated Word of God yes, but the actual facts of what happened in the story? no. Nothing has happened to make them at all doubtful as exactly what happened.

So unfortunately, that theory doesn't work.
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...From the trope page: "Broad strokes is a concept regarding canon where the writers pick and choose what elements of an older story they want to accept into a more recent story."
There were elements introduced or alluded to in the premier that have not been shown or referenced since. Unless something comes up in the future, then it's likely that Broad Strokes is in effect.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes. This
I managed to guess what that would link to before checking.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play1. I never said it was headcanon or I thought it meant anything else, just that I like the idea of it. Not that I thought it did.
2. Still not Board Strokes. Broad Strokes is saying only certain major elements happened, while retconning away or altering others. Not one single fact of the pilot is in question or has in anyway been called into doubt or made to no be the facts of what happened, so can't be broad strokes, if every detail is still in existence. Every single fact of the pilot is still fact. If the details are there, it's not a broad stroke. It's a very narrow one.
Even if they are not referenced, there is zero.. anything.. to show that one single detail was retconned from the pilot, therefore everything is exactly as shown, therefore not Broad Strokes.

Well, I haven't been here all day.
W Hat's up guys?
i think i mostly want to see what happens when this whole place breaks apart

I'd like the idea of remaking the pilot as a movie. Kind of the inverse of what One Piece does with the "Episode of [Crewmate]" movies.
Is that a specific dish or preparation, or just a jazzy way to say you had fish?
Man, I need to try grilling fish.
I have a message from another time...
