A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Post of the Day #818
I've decided on the Thief since he starts with the Master Key and I want to open things. And my gift is the Old Witches's Ring because it does nothing so I'm banking on it doing something later. I'll report back later with my adventures.
And Fallout.
There's nothing interesting going on in the forums I'm usually in, so I'll just come back for a bit.
Who here thinks it would be an awesome idea if they go back and remake the pilot as a feature-length movie? I think that would either be great for the canon, or it could be an even better fan project than Snowdrop or Double Rainboom (unless there are legal issues preventing a Fan Remake of a canon episode). Tommy Oliver
is right; the pilot needed to be a feature-length movie instead of two 20-minute episodes, and it's not too late for them to go back and redo the pilot to its fullest potential, especially in light of certain information that was revealed in later episodes.
I'm not sure I trust the fandom to do the idea justice, anyway.
I definitely agree that the premiere really deserves a full-length treatment. There's a lot of potential for drama that never gets fully developed because of time constraints. And the trials the mane six face in the Everfree could be rewritten to make NMM seem a more credible threat. (Or make it clearer that Luna was fighting NMM from the inside, or that NMM is insane, or SOMETHING.)
There was actually a fan video project sometime during the the summer just after season 1 (if I'm remembering correctly) that had a goal of trying to take the pilot and make it "more epic and serious" (paraphrased). It was pretty awful.

Well, she did try to immediately murder them by dropping them off a cliff. Plus it was pretty clear that they were generally outmatched in physical combat against the Manticore (all Rarity did was piss it off and for all her agility, Dash ate tail to the face). It's only after that that NMM starts doing the weaker, illusionary stuff.

It could be pretty good though. I think a few of the One Piece films are basically "here's a chunk of the show, but concise and with better animation," so that sort of thing has precedent.
On the other hand, she would have been more effective as a villain if her "eternal night" lasted for more than an extended evening.
On the other other hand, imprisoning Princess-freaking-Celestia is no mean feat, so at least she has that.

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...I always assumed that ponies would still be able to grow food because of magic. Like, NMM would make it so the moonlight could provide energy to plants or something. She wasn't really the "must kill everyone" sort of villain, so starving the world seems a bit out of character.
Or maybe she's just really horrible at thinking things through.
Maybe it is a mean feat. Have we actually seen Celestia win a fight? She's like the Worf of the series.

Word of God was that Eternal night would have result in everypony dieing.

So who wins the free cruise tickets in the M6?
