A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

@Star Ah. It's hotter there than in Canada? That's...not...possible?
https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615q@Ike: Those are actually the reasons I don't like Twilestia. All those dynamics—teacher/student, surrogate mother/daughter, and ruler/governed (though it's diminished slightly since the alicoronation)—all make for a power imbalance that doesn't strike me as healthy.
The only Twilestia portrayal I've liked yet is Ultra Fast Pony, because it actually portrays it as creepy, and plays the whole thing for laughs anyway.
I've always found Twilestia to be a bit creepy as well. There's too much of a parental vibe to their relationship for romance to not have some weirdness to it.
Reaction Image RepositorySix Brides for Two Sisters is the only fic where I enjoy the pairing, mostly because it's an over the top comedy wherein part of the premise is everyone knowing they're going to be married, aside from Celestia herself. And Luna thinks it's a great idea to honor the others by courting them as thanks for Nightmare Night.
@Marcen I think the story was called Aurora cuz it was about a murder and Twilight getting frightened of this because she was involved with helping Princess Luna get used to ruling Canterlot while Celestia is away and for some reason they had a bit of shipping in there which I never really got to be honest.

@Crow I'll read that story some time....

https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615qEh, lots of people like Twilestia. It's a warm fuzzies ship, really.
I think it's cute, but I'll admit the nature of the relationship makes me think it couldn't really work at the end of the day. That and, to be honest, I kind of have a hard time shipping either of the goddesses. At least with mortals. The divide just seems too large.
Have you ever tried to be with someone who's a bit younger than you, or just enough that there's a bit of a gap in values? IT can be difficult to take their problems seriously, and if they're persistent enough then it can be tiring, I should think. I imagine it must be like that for them a lot... they've been around for so long, and their values are so different(Celestia was, hard as it must have been for her, willing to give Luna a thousand year time-out. That degree of long-term thinking suggests a pretty different mindset than a mortal could muster), that even if they know, intellectually, that someone's problems are valid I think it must be difficult for them to be in a relationship with someone who isn't immortal too.
Which is why I invent other gods to ship amongst themselves. Luna X Tidus OTP.
