A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

VII didn't really have a problem with those elements, it's just that later installments of the series exaggerated certain elements to the point where they became problematic. I.e. stuff like the brooding atmosphere, sci-fi elements, angst, were all handled relatively well in the initial installment, but were over-emphasized in later ones.
Reaction Image RepositoryTrue. Funny that the game points out Cloud is angsty and melodramatic at times, and part of the aesop is him realizing he needs to stop and embrace the good he does have. If you ask me sequels, prequels, and spinoffs are unnecessary. The game told the story it wanted to tell. But it's a cash cow, so I suppose it couldn't be helped.
I'm not usually a graphics person, but even when the PSX was at the point where it was all new and shiny stuff, the very first thing I noticed about FF7 was the hoof hands. Contrast between in-battle (which looked really quite good) and out-of-battle probably didn't help either. I felt like the story was a pretty big acid trip too (which had some coolness appeal). I can't really help but compare it to FFT, since I saw both stories unfold around the same time (I wasn't always the one playing) and I thought the latter had a much more solid story, even if it got pretty weird in the last chapter.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiYeah, the graphics weren't exactly awesome, but it wasn't awful or anything.
Reaction Image RepositoryIn other news, I finally finished The Legend Of Zelda A Link Between Worlds. I really liked it. It has the nostalgia factor from A Link to the Past, but it really polishes the gameplay and adds enough new elements that it doesn't feel like a rehash and is totally worth playing on its own merits. What I really like is that there's almost no padding; the world doesn't have any pointlessly large empty areas (*coughHyruleFieldcough*) and the warping mechanic is introduced really early on so it's easy to move around.
Reaction Image RepositoryI want to play A Link Between Worlds. The re-release of Oo T on 3DS was good, too.
"Moody Stops Bicycle Theft, Takes No Prisoners"- Harry Potter and the Natural 20hell look at Beast Wars as the best example of that. The animation is horrendous, but the characters, story and everything else was just so damn amazing.
Actually, I'd contend that really only the first season was really bad. Season 2 got a pretty significant animation bump that carried on throughout, and actually holds up pretty well. I mean, it's no HTTYD or Brave, but it's not half bad.
They turned her into a pony with clumps of balls instead of a mane and tail. And then... uh.
Thankfully it's just nudity, not sex.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/@Wereal: I actually preferred it to OOT for what it's worth. OOT isn't bad, but it has quite a bit of filler (yay for running across Hyrule field a lot!) and it's kind of a hassle getting from place to place. Still really good, though.
@Wryte: When I watched it, my general reaction was "Guys. Guys. Stop trying to animate organic creatures. Stick with the robots." The robot forms looked awesome but whenever they tried to animate animals they always ended up looking kinda creepy. Like the Proto humans, who fell pretty much in the middle of the Uncanny Valley.

Reaction Image RepositoryThe introduction of the animal transmetal forms is basically the exact moment that I was actually able to take the show seriously. Before then, the animal models were just too weird-looking. That and the writing improved at around the same time.
Reaction Image RepositoryWhat, today? Spent most of the day at work like usual.
Saw the first two and wasn't impressed. The only reason I watched part 2 was because it was available on the plane. Definitely not going to see them in theaters.
Reminds me of Age Of Wonders. I was actually really surprised the first time I met another person who had played it.
I'm five years behind if I play them at all.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play

FF 6 was better because it focused on story than graphics. 7 started to fall into the trap the series started for itself.
