A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

https://youtu.be/_1F5HhUvFbM?si=csgwerqELcG6615qFluttermac doesn't do anything for me, either. Not to say I don't think the relationship could be perfectly workable, just that it seems too one-note. I mean, the primary difference between the two is that Big Mac is self-confidant and Fluttershy isn't. Otherwise, they're way too similar to each other. I like both of them better with a more extroverted/energetic partner; it just opens up a lot more scenarios and opportunities for playing off one another. Flutterceps or Pinkiemac, for example.
I still need to find time to write that Rarity/Iron Will crackfic one of these days.

@Dark: I tried one of those relationships when I was younger, and yeah... it doesn't work well. Relationships need communication.
I would say... Hoops X Dumbbell, probably.

How could you? 3:
As for crack ships, Trixie and Cheese from that one blog strikes me as pretty odd.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/I would love to see an older Spike and Rarity get together.

Keyword here is older. As is it feels like foalcon.
The issue for me isn't so much that Spike's too young, it's that his crush on her is just that: a crush. He worships the ground she walks on regardless of what she does or how she acts, and that's not a healthy relationship dynamic.
Of course, that's not to say that their relationship couldn't develop into a healthy one, but it's not there yet, and I'm not particularly looking to see it developed there. I'd rather just see Spike grow out of it and start being interested in other ponies/dragons/whatever.

(goes to check fanfiction.net to see if there is a ship story)

Aside from the age issue, the #1 reason I'm not a fan of Spike/Rarity is exactly that. His infatuation with her is just that: an infatuation. In the first episode he immediately develops feelings for her based solely on her looks. Granted, she's also nice and a good person, but Spike's crush doesn't seem to be based on any real appreciation for her personality. He just follows her around despite the fact that they have almost nothing in common and don't have any real interaction to them.
Also weirdest ship: Mr. Cake / Mrs. Cake. Insanity.
Happy, Stable marriages in my fanon? It's more likely than you think.
