A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Yeah... well, depends where you go in the fandom, I guess. Here is still nice, after all.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes. For me it's a balance somewhere in the middle. We aren't the classic love and tolerate happy sunshine gender-redefining group of enlightened pony fans, but neither is it a festering group of creepy obsessive complainers.
There's some good, some bad, a lot of overthinking and nitpicking, and some cool and nice people caught in the maelstrom. Just llike any other fandom.
@story: Easier said than done.
But yeah, what dark said. As much as I like to rag on fandom (this one and others), we are just a bunch of human beings that have come together under the flag of miniature horses. We encompass many facets of society; we're not unified under a singular philosophy.
Welcome to the whole of humanity. There are good people and there are assholes. You will run into them everywhere for the rest of your natural life. Enjoy your stay
-edit- I don't know where I was going with that. I should stop typing at two am.

"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkHumans are an enigma. Our neverending quest for wanting something will never be quenched, because even we don't know what we truly want. And remember, even the best of us tend to tread into greedy territory. That's why some can't handle the pressure. I can withstand it, but I've been in to rough patches before. Just keep a hold of friends, because if you're willing to cut ties for an easy way out, then that's just asinine.

Gwen: Maybe that your statement is the big picture and that fixating on singular fandoms/groups in general is just confirmation bias?
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI would also like to add that I hope no one on here thinks they're better than anyone else because they aren't like the creeps and assholes in this or any other fandom. It's good that ya aren't, but shove it like it's a shiny metal, that's just pretentious and I've seen many people across many a fandom act like some super elite. That's why I can't stand a lot of the PC gamers...
I hope none of ya are like that.

Nah. If anything, I've found the sentiment for myself to be the opposite. That is: I find my inability to easily be an asshole to be a hindrance.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiIt's not morally ambiguous at all. Letting people die so their energy release can stave off the eventual heat death of the universe? I doubt the energy the magical girls release is even influential at all in that respect. What would all of them buy? A few seconds more heat for the UNIVERSE, if that?
And if this isn't following the rule of thermal dynamics, in the fact that magic is exempt from it, there is a far less evil way to save the universe. Kyubey, being a magical being, could just generate the energy himself.
"Moody Stops Bicycle Theft, Takes No Prisoners"- Harry Potter and the Natural 20Then why do we have incubators? In the manga/anime, letting magical girls turn into witches is apparently the best possible way to stop the heat death of the universe, which they apparently aren't supposed to do anyways.
Kyubey is totally evil, his existence seems to be solely to cause strife in humanity with the magical girls.
"Moody Stops Bicycle Theft, Takes No Prisoners"- Harry Potter and the Natural 20The sun is tiny in comparison to the vastness of the universe (Just using that as a reference). The amount of energy they would need to release would most likely destroy the earth, before it even DID anything influential.
@Kix: Yeah, the second you posted it. :3 I don't have a tumblr, so I can't reply there. You need to practice with anatomy, you sort of just draw the characters in the form of how you remember them being.

"Moody Stops Bicycle Theft, Takes No Prisoners"- Harry Potter and the Natural 20
did ya catch my response to your post yet?
Anatomy's a bitch for me, especially when others do it so much more sylistic than I, plus that was a quick doodle to answer your response, like a small, little comical style that wasn't even made to look "Wonderful", but to serve as a way of saying "I can do it, but why?"

Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceI actually managed to follow PMMM as it was first airing, and I can definitely say that it's far better when you don't know how things will play out. I'm almost certain I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much if I had known how it went ahead of time. Also, let's not turn this into a "were the Incubators justified?" argument. I was on the thread for the show when it aired and I've seen far too many fights over it to want to do that again.
Reaction Image RepositoryBecause of spoilers, you'll watch this show? That takes the fun out of watching it, don't you think?
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceWell, you don't have to be completely unspoiled to like something.
Of course, it's easy for us, because every major conflict on this show is resolved by 'Friendship wins the day'. That's not a spoiler at all.

Oi, between poni and Sailor Moon, you and me both bro.
