A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

For my part, I kinda feel like the creators are cackling, "You wanted this! You wanted this!" as they make the puppets dance. Like, off the start of S3 I thought they were gonna nip shipping in the bud, but it looks like it'll be back in full force. the Korrasami shippers will be pleased though.
Still, Season 3 is off to a really good start. IT's kinda clear some of the moments were meant to be crowd pleasers - the appearance of Zuko and the return of Korra's cousins come to mind in particular. But, we have some interesting plot threads getting introduced, and the main villains so far look to be pretty cool. I'd have preferred to learn what their actual deal is, but I guess they want to keep a supply of information and surprises to feed the audience. If nothing else they've proven themselves to be a credible threat, and they're fun to watch fight, which is a necessity of any Kung-Fu inspired series.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Seriously, he's cool and all but... what is he doing? Avatar is usually good about explaining how this stuff works, so he's really just sort of an enigma.
Also, I'm about halfway through S3 and I still can't get over how weird Aang looks with hair.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectYeah it is odd how nothing about him is explained. Like I said Korra has a similar character, so maybe they will explain it.
And yes Aang with hair is odd. By the way, just curious, what was your reaction to the bloodbending episode?
Not really. More of examples of benders being able to perform feats no one thought was possible, or had ever seen, but Toph's wasn't spontaneous or unique. It was a skill she developed simply from looking at things differently then others, and one nearly any earth bender could replicate given the knowledge of how to do it.

I posted my Sombra trees idea to tumblr and now somebody's totally on board with it and I'm a little worried.
I'm sure there's an anime out there that fulfills that purpose.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau Project@Seraphem: It was a good episode, I guess. I found it a bit weird that Katara was so opposed to using bloodbending on principle when it really isn't that much better than say, freezing people solid or slamming them into walls.
@Wryte: Thing is, Toph's metalbending was explained in a way that made sense with her powers. Same deal for bloodbending and (kinda) for lightning bending. The latter still strikes me as weird because it makes more sense as an offshoot of airbending than firebending. (Lightning is caused by electrically charged air, after all).
@Dark: Never heard of it. We seem to have a page on it, though.

Reaction Image RepositoryRuby Gloom? Apparently is kind of a gothy-type show.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI have to get to bed now. We can get back to discussing something tangentially related to ponies tomorrow.
I think it peaked at about episode 6 which was pretty much a pure comedy shipping episode. Once the story arc got serious, there was a lot less shipping.
There was a fair bit of shipping in season 2 too though.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play

@Irish: That would make sense, but if they alluded to it in-show, I missed it (Which I admit might have happened). So as far as I could see, he was meeting her for the first time in years, and then they were suddenly snogging. It was doubly weird because neither of them seems like the type, what with Mai being an Emotionless Girl and Zuko being "Repressed Issues: The Character". They were two of the last characters I'd expect to have a sudden hookup. I'll give the Suki bit a pass, though. They follow up on that decently enough.
Also, what's the deal with Combustion Man?
