A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

I don't know WHAT the Hell happened (I blame shenanigans) but we're going to start from scratch. Post your feels for this awesome show again! Naow!

I consider its failure one of the greatest travesties of modern cinema.

What about Scott Pilgrim Vs The World?

I personally believe that Superman is one of the characters in comics that should never kill someone. I mean, worst case scenario he can beat the bad guys into submission and send them to the phantom zone. He has options besides killing to take care of even the most dangerous villains.

Just finished Superman II. And I have to say that, while I do think it's a good film and is superior to Man of Steel, the difference isn't that incredible.

I mean, some of that might just be the time it came out in (and I don't mean the special effects, the special effects were still pretty good most of the time. I mean the several "power out of nowhere" moments and general cheesiness that were the norm for Superman back then). But several plot elements also seem to come out of nowhere, Lex came across more as a professional butt-kisser than a genuine threat, and the cheesiness often ended up ruining otherwise serious scenes.

I did like how Clark and Lois actually had a relationship, which is more than Man of Steel gave them. For example, while I don't understand how Superman developed the ability to wipe people's memories, I can understand why he did it. It also certainly helped that it didn't have to get bogged down in telling Superman's origins in detail.

@Ike: I agree, largely because Superman is inherently a moral statement and I can't personally abide by killing. Still, it's just that he's never really been that adverse to it in extreme scenarios.

It depends on where the work sits on the various sliding scales. In someuniverses, you can always avoid killing anyone, in others, attempting a pacifism run will quickly come back to bite you hard.

@Ike: Yeah, tell that to Doomsday and, depending on how desperate the situation is, Darkseid too. Clearly Superman NEVER kills anyone ever.

@Irish Zombie: I heard that the Director's Cut of Superman 2 is actually way better and not quite as goofy as the movie we got was.

There was an MLP reference in Last Week Tonight last night. I found it rather refreshing that it didn't mention bronies at all. The joke wasn't that grown men like My Little Pony, it was that little girls like My Little Pony.

Well I saw a bunch of kids going after the pony plushies the day I picked my B-a-B Dashie plushie.

Ah yes, that mythical demographic. It has been whispered in the dimmest recesses of half-forgotten temples to unnameable spawn that when the stars grow dim, the sky is lit with alien stars, and the natural order is given to those that have come before, so shall come to pass the prophecy of renewal and terrible changes to the cosmos given in crazed mutterings by the necromantic priests of Marduc that youthful souls shall be illuminated by secretive joys, wherein a freshness shall be given to the daily worshiped adoration of our equine idles.

Marston- just because superman has resorted to lethal force doesn't mean he should. Again, personally I think he shouldn't ever really have to.

In response to girls liking MLP, it's legit. My sister likes the show quite a bit.

Post of the Day #788

But seriously, one thing I really hated about DBZ was how almost everyone from the original series was either Demoted to extra or completely forgotten about because Akira apparently doesn't know that the Badass Normal trope exist's. I still like DBZ despite this, but in some ways I prefer the original Dragon Ball show {Which is not at all helped by how I think the Cell and Buu arc are tedious and ridiculously drawn-out, which means I should probably watch Dragon Ball Z Kai at some point}. Both of them are still legions ahead of Dragon Ball GT though.

it was that little girls like My Little Pony.

I've seen bronies joking about that before.

Actually, it's not just little girls. Little boys watch teh show too (I remember seeing some when I watched EQG in the theater).

By the way, I saw Pinkie Pie 'training' toothpaste at the store yesterday. I went with the regular Disney Princess toothpaste though since it's much cheaper.

By the way, does anyone know anything about yunxiahaha@126.com? I just got a very mysterious email from it. It was also sent to several dozen other people, but it doesn't look like spam.

I use Bhos headset, with sound isolation so there's a good filter to outside noise.

Also they're pretty tough and can handle pretty high volume. Yeah they're about 50 bucks on average, but I've had them for 3 years now and they work great.
