I was in the same room while other people watched Jaws 2.

..... That's all I've got. I don't read comics. o.o

Though I heard that they never portray Lex as well as they do in the comics.

I just could never take Lex seriously in the first film. He and his flunkies reminded me more of Team Rocket than a supergenius that's dangerous enough to take on Superman.

[up] In that case I'd suggest watching returns after the Matrixtongue

For drawing tablets. Does anyone have any recommendations. Want to get one, but don't know much about them.

@Morning Star 1337: Welcome to the thread! I'm probably late, but I've been gone the last month and didn't want to be impolite. Derp. I have no idea what I'm doing. Hi?

[down] The matrix has backstory?

Does anyone actually watch The Matrix for any reason besides the fights?

[up]I'm pretty sure Star has been around here for quite a while.

The first, anyway.

Same director also made a hacker cyberpunk movie with an actually respectible lesbian couple and romance. So they can make good films when they want to.

I thought their Speed Racer movie was a lot fun. It reveled in the silliness of its premise.

I think their main issue is that they're better at making fun popcorn movies than anything with real drama. The first Matrix was good because despite the absurdity of the premise, the movie so clearly ran on Rule of Cool that it was completely watchable. The later ones tried too hard to be thought-provoking and ended up just looking pretentious.

And now I must sleep.

I've never actually seen any of the Superman movies. I just thought the original tagline is ironic nowadays.

Pretty much. Somehow the Speed Racer movie turned out better than it should have. Better than most anime live action films, Astroboy and Dragonball Evolution, I'm looking at you.

Ugh. Don't remind me of Dragonball Evolution. I watched it with my only knowledge of the franchise coming from the occasional episode of Z, and I could still tell that it was nothing like its source. And even on its own, it was pretty terrible.

To be thought provoking, you must first have a thought.

Speed Racer had one of the best climactic moments ever, and was a pretty good film to boot. It's a damn shame it did so poorly.

And Superman just nonchalantly killed Zod by tossing him off a cliff after taking away his ability to fly.

...So why were people making such a fuss of him offing Zod in Man of Steel, again?

Because apparently Superman doesn't kill? Though to be honest I've never seen him shy to take the option in the face of a serious enough threat. Pretty sure DCAU Superman didn't have any serious qualms about trying to put down Darkseid.
