A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

There is a difference between a real and immediate threat, that is in your face at this very moment, and a threat that you can't actually see or measure in any way. Part of being mature is recognizing that more vague threats still need to be given proper attention. And, where Sombra comes in she was probably feeling pretty starved for companionship, so there's the extra stressor there.
I say all this, of course, bearing in mind I haven't read the latest issue yet, so there might be some details I'm missing out on.
That's the real problem, we don't know how old she was. Perhaps she was old, and her behaviour was inappropriate. Or, perhaps she was legitimately young, and we're expecting a young adult to have the decision making process of someone much older. A young adult who, I will say again, was probably very emotionally vulnerable at the time.

Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes. What edition of the comic is this all taking place?
The main series, issues #17-20.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!@Kegisak: That's true, but like I said, the main issue is that even after she's matured she still does the same thing. We'll have to see how the fourth issue explains thing. Though my main complaint is still how the arc squandered the concept on a rather bland romance when actually showing alt!versions of the characters would've been more interesting.
Reaction Image RepositoryThat came off differently than I intended. I meant that if it is bashing, the pony being bashed is Celestia.
As I said, I feel unqualified to comment.

Having not read the comic, I can't comment much, but from the description, it does sound like they botched that one.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayTrees can live for thousands of years without ever even gaining sentience. Calling a tree immature would be stupid. Why would it be different for an alicorn?

It's hard to say because the last issue isn't out yet, so we don't know exactly what Celestia's motivation was for opening the portal in the present day. So that is sort of up for interpretation.
The fact that the romance aspect is a Romantic Plot Tumor is somewhat less controversial.
Because alicorns are sentient. Also, I'm pretty sure that Syd was being sarcastic.

Reaction Image RepositoryI'm betting on "Sombra sent a message asking for assistance" or something to that effect.
I should also point out that, from Journal of the Two Sisters, when Celestia met Star Swirl the Bearded, she didn't even have a cutie mark.
And that the comic arc is pretty pointed on it, and that the main crux of the arc is a parallel with Twilight learning more about being a princess.

We don't expect trees to be emotionally mature because trees don't have emotions.
Fluttershy only wants to be a tree. She isn't actually one.
Bloomberg just looks chill. AJ is just babying him.

Reaction Image RepositoryOn the subject of Pinkie Pie and video games, this explains so much.
