I think I'll talk to an owner when I have the time. At the moment, I've been researching what candies I could stock up the store with. It seems most candies either come from Hershey, Mars, Cadbury, Nestle, Ferrero, Necco, Tootsie and other assorted companies.

Because my subconscious is so wired to think I'm going to fail at almost anything I do, it gives me anxiety when I have any kind of responsibility or goal I want to accomplish. My own fear of failure is so ingrained I avoid it.

I have the same thing when it comes to job hunting. I'm actually almost more terrified of getting the job because I'm so convinced that I can't do anything right just when it comes to jobs that I'll be fired by the end of the week.

So thanks a lot of that complex, manager who fired me from my last job. -,-

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. I'm similar. I have developed a very defeatest attitude.

Hope things improve for both of you.

Damn, I hope ya guys get to your nirvanas eventually.

Also, is it possible to sell Kinder Surprises in the US or is that still banned? Are other Kinder candies allowed?

Health code violation. I washed a head of lettuce in the wrong sink because it was closer, we were slammed, and I was the only person in the kitchen other than the girl too busy portioning turkey to take five goddamn minutes to help me, but who had time apparently to tell the manager about it.

I'd been butting heads with the manager for a while before that point, who was utterly inept and useless when it came to do with anything regarding the closing shift (which is the one I usually worked). Every goddamn day I'd come in for my shift and get told off by her for not getting out on time the night before, and I had to just bite my tongue and not go off right back at her that it was impossible for me to get out on time in large part because of all the duties she'd moved off the earlier shifts and onto mine because the earlier shifts weren't getting out on time. But no, no, go right ahead and keep assuming I'm just dragging my feet to milk more money out of you, that's totally why I haven't taken a single one of my legally mandatory daily ten minute breaks during a closing shift in over a year and sometimes end up working through my lunch break while still clocking out for it and not getting paid because we're too busy, Sherlock.

The text message one of my work buddies sent me a week later telling me she'd been fired for trying to screw people out of overtime pay is still in my old phone's memory.

Wow, that sounds like a horrible manager. I guess I'm lucky to have not run into anything like that.

P.S. Comcast just failed to show up AGAIN even though they had a 2 hour window this time.

I had a similar experience with my manager when I worked at a restaurant a few years ago. I hope I never have to so it again.

People like that making it into positions of power like that is why I have little faith in the world. On the other hand, at least those managers didn't embezzle enough money to put the business into debt (I've seen it happen with three different stores).

I remember reading one story about a buisness owner who begged people for donations and investment to keep the store afloat, and meanwhile embezzeled even more money than was being donated.

At least most people aren't so bad.

Well, I don't have any work nightmare stories like that, but it's more a constant stream of annoyances. The main problem is that my job description is basically "do all the stuff that nobody else has time to do", which means that new projects and stuff are constantly popping out of thin air, usually when I'm in the middle of doing something else.

[up] "Horseapples" and "flying feather" are the only things that come to mind off the top of my head.

Story: I dunno. The big problem is that all it takes is one person doing shit like that to ruin it for everyone and there's no guarantee that a person who suddenly comes into power isn't going to be corrupted by it, or wasn't just stepford smiler-facing their way into power when they were corrupt in the first place. It's better to just assume everyone is going to be greedy and corrupt until they prove otherwise.

Sheesh, I hope I don't know anyone like that.

Anyways, I think I got a list of potential candies I could stock up with.

I could probably scratch off the kinder eggs tho...

When ponies speak, how do they look doing it?

Pretty sure they don't have lips so it's through the muzzle, but I assume once open the mouth works like a human.

Well, pony muzzles as drawn in the show are so small they look more like noses than anything else. Mouths work normally.

I don't think she was embezzling, just trying to stop employees from claiming overtime pay because having people working overtime reflected badly on her as a manager.

Of course, maybe that's because she was a shitty manager.

And yet, despite knowing that, I've still got this complex about how incompetent I must be to have gotten fired from such a simple job. Or heck, maybe it's because she was so damn awful at her job that I'm like this; because now I'm so certain I'll just get another shitty manager who'll fire me again because they don't know how to do their job, not because I can't do mine.

Ugh.

Though f0or what it's worth, real-life horses and ponies do have lips. Very strong ones, in fact, and actually quite dextrous. They use them to grip and pull in hay and grass while eating, and also for a bit of expressiveness. More clever horses can open gate latches with their lips, and do some other simple tasks.

Wryte- while violating health code standards is a bad thing, it doesn't mean you were bad at your job. You were overworked, stressed out and took a shortcut. It happens.

And from my experience, and what I know from my brother's and sisters' jobs, most managers are decent people who honestly care about their employees.

I get that you're upset over being fired for just a simple thing, but it sounds like it was a bad job and it was just a matter of time. It doesn't mean you're a bad person or a bad worker.

^ Yeah, and I know all that on a conscious level, but that doesn't do much to allay the anxiety whenever I try to make myself face down a job prospect. -,-

^^ Also to pet kitties.
