A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

All of the usual forum rules apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I dunno sounds more like a campy song that David Bowie would write.

Yeah, Nintendo makes games to be games, to be fun. The rest, make them to make money, to be impressive. They are the ones that see games, as GAMES. Plus, I much prefer the more colorful, vibrant, cartoonish or artistic looking games, to yet another 'realistic' shooter.

And so want a Wii U, at least by the time the new Smash comes out.

Also Rainbow Rocks. Meh, doesn't change my opnion. It'll probably be decent, but have no reason to be connected to MLP.

Eh you gripe too much Seraphem.

How is that a gripe? I'm saying it will likely be well done. And probably better done then the first one.

Well, I dunno, I'm not exactly anticipating it either. I guess it'll be... OK?

Post of the Day #776

Why can't we just have gender neutral pronouns. Everything would be so simple.

Well, some languages do. And some languages are extremely gender sensitive and have a ton of words that depend on gender. But yes there does need to be a gender neutral pronoun that isn't as demeaning as 'it'.

The pure graphical power isn't up as high as the other systems,

Nowadays, ultra HD graphics is negatively correlated with game quality.

Besides, we're about to hit a wall with graphics. the new 4k TV's, have resolution that is on par, or even higher then what the human eye itself can register. So any more is a waste.

People have attempted to invent gender-neutral pronouns for English. But nothing that's caught on as far as I know.

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

I heard in Sweden, they're trying to push a gender-neutral word, but I don't remember what it was.

[up][up]In general, attempts to deliberately introduce new words into common speech tend to fail more often than not. Mainly because the words generally sounds stilted and unnatural. That and most people just use the singular "they" and see no reason to create a new word when we have a perfectly serviceable option available. Making up a new term from scratch tends to veer into Forced Meme territory.

@Ike: Then it just sounds like you're talking with an accent.

They and Their are widely accepted to refer to gender neutral or gender unknown third parties.

I think part of the problem with invented pronouns is they all sort of sound like you're just saying he or she with an accent.

I've seen 'one' used, which I sort of like because it makes you sound like Boromir, but typically I just use 'they.'

There's also "zhe." But that looks and sounds pretty fucking stupid, so I don't use it.
