A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayRandom question: Would you rather let everyone know your browsing history or be out in public naked for a whole day?

http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/I would do both at the same time!
No, not really. :P

One thing I do think has been a missed opportunity in the Avatar series (serieses?) is healing. They pay lip service to it being useful and more important than the destructive power of the other elements, but they still treat it the traditional way: as a soft, feminine ability to be used far away from danger. So far we've only seen the skill in the hands of female characters (Katara and Kya, mainly), it's mostly used during the falling action of any scene, and Katara was disappointed that she was being forced to learn it instead of fighting techniques, even though she did master it off screen (which also devalues the skill by making it seem almost effortless to acquire compared to all the hard work that goes into learning combat techniques in the show).
What I'd love to see is some kind of Boisterous Bruiser archetypal character, except instead of bruising, he's healing his allies in the middle of combat right there in the thick of it with them, making them practically unstoppable. Show healing being active and awesome, and healers putting themselves in harm's way to do it; not just the power that justifies keeping The Chick around but never getting to do anything.
Heh. Once you go black... teas, you never go back...sies.
Can one if you guys fly to Washington and come beat me up? I deserve to be beaten up.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/I guess the thing is that that would require RPG style instant healing, which looks kind of silly outside of videogames.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayNo.
No.
No, you don't.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!Your statements about me are inaccurate, and if I'm the reason you're here, you need better friends.

More seriously though, while it's a cool idea the healing we see in Avatar sadly doesn't really work for it. From what I can gather it was mostly based off of Qigong-type healing, which is more about helping the body heal itself faster and better than actively working as an outside healing source. Realistically, ending a fight fast is a much better idea than simply making yourself able to last, so while having healing ability is useful in being able to switch out when necessary, it's more useful most of the time to just try and beat your opponent into submission as quick as you can and worry about wounds later. And in most cases, if you were able to fast-heal, a bruiser would likely use it to self-heal first.
Though with that, they could still easily run interference and tank. Why bother to let the DPS get hit and heal them later, when you could take the hit yourself and heal, so the heavy hitters don't have to pause for anything? (Related to the above, Braum
◊ The Puncher the impenitrable wall of super-nice guy.]]).
And all that said, I come up with superhero concepts for yucks sometimes, and one of them did have Healing Hands as a power - among other things; his powers were fueld by the DC universe emotional spectrum and he had a different power related to each of the colours, though they were primarily CC related. Healing for Hope, Slows for Fear, etc.
Bullshit. You're a fine friend, and whatever it is you think you've done that makes you so bad, it can't be as bad as all that. Are you gonna tell us what it is so we can help you feel better, or will we have to wrestle it out of you?

Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.

So I just read about the Truecrypt takedown. Very intersting. It's clear that something fishy happened, but noone knows exactly what.
