A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Yeah, a lot of Discord's appeal lies in the visual gags and how he's physically trolling them as much as mentally.
Reaction Image RepositoryPersonally I just don't think he's that great. Chrysalis was cool. Nightmare Moon was cool. The other villains, not as much.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/There was an old tumblr post about how all Sombra did was gargle and turn into gas.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!Who's Airy and why are you yelling at us?
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!Honestly, at this point I find it hard to compare Discord and Chrysalis due to the fact that Chrysalis got so little screentime. It really depends on whether you consider the comics to be canon.
Reaction Image Repository@Syd:Sorry. Had my mind blown for a second. I'm talking about Bravely Default.

Irish- I never noticed it either. I think a lot of people missed it.
Meta- while I don't think Discord is that great, I wouldn't say he's overrated. He is legitimately powerful and threatening, cunning at times, and at least attempts to be funny. I just prefer NM and Chrysalis because they're so cool.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/I just hope they don't overuse him. Discord's a fun character, but he's also best in small doses, because he tends to overshadow almost everyone else whenever he's around.
Reaction Image RepositorySo X Men DOFP was pretty good. I unsertood it fine despite not seeing First Class. My main complaint was that it was a shame Quicksilver didn't appear more. He was easily the best part of the movie.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayQuicksilver was just so OP that the movie would have ended too quickly if he'd stuck around past his big scene.
And it fits his characterization in this movie, too. He's not altruistic enough to help Xavier for free, and they can't buy his services because he can already steal anything he wants. He just signed up for one particular heist because it looked fun, then went his own way when it was done.
This. But you know who else didn't have much personality yet is beloved by fans of that series? Sauron {At least, in that series he didn't have much. I heard that in The Silmarillion he's a Magnificent Bastard of massive proportions. Not that he wasn't in the original series, but still}, who Sombra is a confirmed Expy of. I mainly like Sombra because he's really Dangerously Genre-Savvy and would have won had it not been for something he couldn't predict. I even picture his actual personality being similar to Megatron, who also shares a few quality's with Sombra.

Cue the "perfectly innocent and totally doesn't realize what she just said and you can't prove otherwise" face.
