A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Not sure myself, I've attempted it with justifyable explanation given in the edits, but nopony seems to read those. Either way, I think getting a mod's approval isn't a bad way to go about it.
Unrelated, this bit from a G1 comics page sums up the tone and feel well at that time.
Surprise Creepy: The G1 comics are a lot like a children's storybook, which will often have dark elements written as if the writer doesn't get how dark they are. "You have gems in your eyes! Gems from the smashed throne! Now you'll see the way home too!" is how Applejack cheerfully describes what, as you can see, seems a lot more like Eye Scream to the rest of us. This not long after kicking the villain to his demise. Also, Majesty's punishments, though the villains have them coming, make her damn scary. The way characters return to being sunny so quickly after the darkness (one-panel wrap-ups of epic stories are common) serves less to diffuse it and more to increase it with Dissonant Serenity and by showing just how much that for them it was Tuesday. Turn an enemy to stone permanently, the wording of the spell leaving it possible that he's a conscious statue forever, teleport back to the party like nothing happened! Ponyland was nearly eradicated, we solve the problem at the last possible moment, Everybody Laughs Ending two seconds after, hurray!
Irish- keep going. Things are going to get weird. And then things are going to get goooood.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! That was the origin of the twinkle eyed ponies too.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectAnyone know why no new Insane Pony Thread tumblr images seem to be getting uploaded to Derpibooru anymore? I like reading their comments on them.
I know there were more recent uploads. Why they were taken down is anyone's guess.
I no longer have anything to do with That Image Site.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!Well, technically there's only 4 that aren't there. We're up to the one about Celestia and Warhammer figures.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectWhen I checked the other day, they'd deleted everything after Space Hooker Celestia.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!@ Meta: Any relation to the comic storyline of the same name from the early '80s?
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out! It's a loose adaptation of the comicbook storyline, from what I understand. I haven't read it, to be honest.
The movie basically takes the continuity from all the prior X-films, smashes it into a million pieces, and rebuilds it as something amazing. The filmmakers wiped the slate clean, so now the franchise can move forward without the baggage of X-Men: The Last Stand.
EDIT: Just reviewed the trope page for the comicbook storyline. Apparently the original was about Kitty Pryde going into the 80s via Mental Time Travel to prevent Magneto from assassinating a senator (which led directly to the mutant holocaust in the unchanged timeline). In contrast, this movie is about Wolverine going into the 70s via mental time travel to prevent Mystique from assassinating the guy who invented the Sentinels (which led directly to the mutant holocaust in the unchanged timeline). Funny thing though: even though he steals Kitty Pryde's part in the plot, Wolverine doesn't overshadow this movie. It's actually an ensemble story this time.

He's actually kind of background for the most part, which is alright.
I just saw it today. IT was pretty cool. I quite liked Quicksilver, which surprised me. I never really cared for him from the cartoons.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.I just watched a movie all about and starring Lego's. It was surprisingly entertaining.

@dark: I'm mostly talking the miscellaneous page. Must we list characters that appear t-shirts??
