A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

Hey Story, Take a look at this.

That was a Synthesist and her summon I made. Weak? I don't think so. 4 to 6 attacks a round with a +15 (a +20 if buffed) bonus to hit.

No, I think story is saying they are OP, just not as OP as a wizard or such.

Tell that to the fucking monstrosity Silver made. Thing was more powerful then the bosses that were up to that point challenging the whole party.

This is the same party where an Alchemist was practically soloing everything too. Doesn't really say much about the overall balance of the classes.

If you can have a Charisma of 28 at level 10, I think the OP-ness has more to do with the campaign than the class. Like, numbers wise, that kind of potential just screams out for abuse.

Comparatively, bad point scores can make even OP classes run and hide, so...

Also, this is kind of a neat theory.

Yeah, how are those things not OP again?

If you want, I could post it on GITP, and get all the PF experts to explain why it's actually pretty tame and not broken at all. But I already did that with Mar's Alchemist.

Plus I can predict what they'll say anyway. That 4 attacks at +15 isn't actually that impressive, that Eidolons can be a powerful melee beast if they want to but that says more about the weakness of other melee classes than anything, that they have to specialize in one or two tricks rather than being able to do everything at once like a tier 1, combat is only one facet of the game, that this is probably a case of someone seeming OP due to being in a low op party, that the particular conditions of the campagin are favorable to the summoner, etc.

That vampire ended up being a pretty cool guy. I actually feel kind of sorry for him.

DeRosso? Yeah, he's a cool guy.

That class is awesome, too.

A tip: Get as many Genome abilities in chapter 4 as you can. Some of them become unavailable between that point and the Bonus Dungeon.

Saying that a Summoner is broken in PFS does not imply that it is broken in a campaign where the cleric is wandering around on a skeletal dragon or zombie hydra along with half a dozen skeletal giants (Controlled, rebuked, or animated) and a couple of planar allies he whistled up last week, with a WBL of 175% of normal based on the way he and the party wizard cooperated with craft wands, scribe scrolls and craft wondrous items. Thats not crazy high op shenanigans like adventuring from the astral plane or abusing spell-likes from simulacrum, thats basic core spells/feats utilized roughly as intended and likely to be allowed in any game where tier 1s aren't heavily nerfed from the start. Sure, if you nerf tier 1 casters to a small fraction of their power, Summoner looks pretty crazy by comparison.

Another relevant quote from the thread I found.

Since I can't contribute to the current discussion at hoof, here's something a bit, well not that.

Video game music rips are awesome. With a winamp plugin package, I can pretty much play any console and handheld device for gaming, aside from the more obscure 16 bit Japanese-onlies at crystal clear quality as it directly plays the music data ripped from the game itself.

Currently have Sonic Rush, Earthbound, Sonic Adventure DX, Kirby 64, and Final Fantasy VI on my playlist.

These even top the album releases in sound quality.

I usually just use Google to try to find music if there's a specific track I want from a game that I don't have.

@Dark: I have the Sonic Adventure soundtrack too. Knuckles' theme song is hilarious.

@Keg: Yeah, that's interesting. Wonder if he had a twitch when the Alicorns pooled their magic.

And now it's time for me to go to bed.

Can someone explain to me the whole thing about the fedora pony with the angry cat cutie mark in Rarity Takes Manehatten and why it was horrible enough to warrant a Broken Base entry? The frequency of the Broken Base entries are getting really really annoying. It's reasons like these that I'm actually surprised Twilight's Kingdom has no Broken Base entries.

Whoops, was thinking DMOS pages, my bad.

Because it's a trope that has been abused to the point that it basically means, one person somewhere on the internet didn't like it while another did.

@Ako; I would hazard a guess that the pony's cutie mark is a reference to internet meme Grumpy Cat. People got mad because "how dare they make pop culture references in pony", ect, ect.

Speaking of things that need fixing: Does anyone think the G4 characters page needs a bit of a clean up. There's a whole page devoted to characters we really don't have anything to say about. :/

Here here! Come on, does every member of the Mane Six, and Spike in need of individual trope pages?

Plus, a lot of the entries are repetitive, repeating the same events under a different trope justification. I'm all for reorganizing if I can just get a bit of approval and not get a warning from the Mauds.

Also, in agreement with the bb entries. They tend to be nitpicky and just seem to be something a guy didn't like, rather than any kind of majority viewpoint.

I, uh, put the Broken Base trope on the Look Before You Sleep YMMV page. But I don't actually hate that episode {Far from it, it's actually one of my favorite Season 1 episodes}, it's just that from my experience it's a bit of a "Like it, hate it or meh" sort of thing. So you know, maybe not all of the Broken Base entries are nitpicky things that one or two people didn't like
