A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I usually read the comments before reading a story too. Though sometimes there's spoilers.
I don't think we did.
I tried going without Adblock for a couple days, but eventually I was forced to install it simply because the ads were slowing down everything to a crawl.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayEarlate in the nightmorning, I'm thinking lame, crazy ideas.
Like "What if Equestria was like the world of Avatar The Last Airbender and ponies could bend the Elements of Harmony?"
There would be kindnessbenders, loyaltybenders, honestybenders, genositybenders, laughterbenders, and magicbenders. ;p
But the draw would be that every nation would lack the other elements, so you would have kind ponies that you couldn't depend on, couldn't trust, wouldn't give you anything, and wouldn't make you laugh. Similar thing goes for the other nations.
So in such a case, friendship would be even MORE important for the world to be a harmonious place. Obviously Twilight would be the Avatar and would travel the world, picking up the other five ponies as masters of their elements and they would all learn the importance of friendship together.
And help the nations start to learn from each other.
Heh, if it were a combat-oriented series then bending the Elements of Harmony would be pretty useful.
Kindnessbenders would make other ponies nice and not want to hurt you.
Loyaltybenders wouldn't make them nice, but at least willing to help you.
Honestybenders would have to tell you the truth, so that one's easy.
Generositybenders would make them give you things, which is kind of like theft? But nicer.
Laughterbenders could make anyone laugh, which would be pretty useful for incapacitation.
And magicbenders would probably be the strongest. They could do just about anything Twilight does. And I feel that Canterlot would be like the capital of the world and Celestia the princess of all of it. Of course Equestria is only one part of the pony world, but everything happens there that it pretty much is the world. Especially since Celestia and Luna control the sun and the moon.
...unless the other side of the world has its own sun and moon and its own monarches to raise them. ![]()

Is it the end of 2014? The start of 2015? Who knows.
Speaking of Avatar, I finished the first season and started on the second. Finale was pretty cool, although I think the romance angle between Yue and Sokka was rather rushed an unnecessary. And Zhao's whole "I'm going to kill the moon" thing kinda made him look like an idiot considering that how it turned out.
S2 has been looking pretty good so far. Though I still have one question that's been nagging me since the start of the series: Why is the Fire Nation so much more powerful than everyone else? They're the only nation that seems to have any sort of industry, they apparently have a greater population than any other tribe (seriously in the first season premier there were more people on Zuko's ship than in the entire south water tribe, and in the finale, one fleet was a match for the entire northern trib), and it seems like none of the other nations can put up any fight beyond a token resistance. The Firebenders apparently just run roughshod over the other nations. Makes me wonder why they need Sozin's Comet in the first place, as they seem to be well on their way to winning the war without it.
I don't think we've gotten a date, but Winter 2014/2015 seems to be the best guess.

Reaction Image RepositoryI think time and space exploded....because of this.
@JT Zhao is an idiot, yes.
On Fire Nation... well, consider who their enemies are. Backwards traditionalist Earth Kingdom, eskimo tribes of Water, and a bunch of Air monks who are now all dead. They are winning simply by the virtue of being a technologically progressive nation.
And they ARE winning the war, but the comet is the equivalent of a nuke. Sure, you're obsenely powerful anyway, but nuking them will really bring the message.
Not sure if it was said or not or is my own fridge brilliance, but a later episode strongly implies the southern tribe is very close to withering away, Air Temples are all that's left of that nation, and aside from a handful of places water bending's pretty much gone. The Earth Kingdom's the only strong nation to oppose them that hasn't been genocided or colonized.
Rather grim for a kids show, really.
JT: At least on the Southern Water Tribe, the Fire Nation did progressively get rid of the Waterbenders in the tribe, which accounts for a smaller population somewhat. I do think the Earth Kingdom has more people in it, though.

What does everyone think of the ponies-as-mouthpieces thing that's going on lately? Good thing? Bad thing? Unavoidable thing?
