A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

@Seraphem: Oh wow. You got a Thunderland figurine?
Also, speaking of Thunders.
After ten hours of play, I finally finish up the first chapter of Bravely Default. This is going to be a long one.
Impression so far: it feels very Final Fantasy III, except with more characterization. The brave/default battle system that allows you to delay your turn or take multiple actions in one turn is interesting, but I find I typically just use it to spam several turn's worth of action at the start of a fight to finish it quickly.
Also, the time mage costume looks ridiculous.
The filler in Cowboy Bebop worked because it wasn't really meant to be continuity-heavy in the first place. Out of the whole show, there were maybe like half a dozen episodes of Myth Arc total. It's an episodic show that has some minor continuity to it.
It's actually pretty comparable to MLP:FIM in that regard; both are shows that are primarily episodic, but with strong worldbuilding continuity that have a few episodes that are connected to each other. It's barely even Filler because the show is designed around those episodes to begin with.

Reaction Image RepositoryThe Brave/Default thing becomes more useful once you unlock attacks that cost BP to use.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/Okay, to clarify: the reason people view filler is bad is because most people explicitly define "Filler" as "Stuff that pads out the good parts of the show". It isn't filler if the show is about those episodes. Which is exactly why MLP and Cowboy Bebop can't really be said to have filler episodes; those episodes are the point. It's the continuity eps that are the exception to the rule.
Reaction Image RepositoryIf you're still not convinced, have some Spike impersonating Jackie Chan:
Aw, what? "Ladder Fu" isn't a trope anymore? Bogus.

As in beyond the standard 1 per action? Or do you mean the special weapon attacks that seem to show up semi-randomly, which the game tells me has something to do with BP? Either way, I don't see myself relying on those too much.
Another thing: at first "mrgrgr" just got on my nerves, because what voice actor thinks that's the way it's actually supposed to sound? (For those of you who haven't played, whenever a particular character uses Angrish, their dialogue will read "mrgrgr". Except the VA actually pronounces it out, like "murgurgur".) But it's apparently grown on me, to the point that I find myself saying it in real life. It's bizarre.

Yes I mean attacks that cost more than the standard 1 BP. They show up in the late game.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/I have to agree with Spike, too: I also love a woman who can kick my ass.
edit: Ha, I'd forgotten that was the page quote. :P
