A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

I discovered a new old song today. It's eleven minutes long, and I've been listening to it over and over.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!@ JT: "Reflection" by The Pentangle.
It's an acoustic number with a blues-y feel and a nice groove. What really hooks me is when the falsetto vocals kick in.
@ Orion: Well, it's new to me. It's actually from 1971-ish.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!@villains: I feel like anything that tried to top Tirek now would either come off as over-the-top, or something completely apocalyptic that would be better suited for a series finale. I'm hoping that the season five opener is a bit more low-key world building.

Will have to look into it.
I'd be up for that. Stuff like Ponyville adjusting to the whole "giant castle just sprouted next to town" thing.
In the meantime, here's one of my favorite eleven minute songs:

Reaction Image RepositoryI listen to prog rock and different subgenres of metal, so Epic Rocking is something I'm accustomed to.
2112 is one of the best examples at 21 minutes with distinct sections and awesome synth and guitar solos.
My song put on repeat is an orchestra-covering of Dancing Mad at 11 minutes.

@ Gwen: I think they should go the other way with the next villain they introduce. Something comparatively low-key, but a serious threat in its own right.
Glad you like it.

I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!@Gwen: I wouldn't be opposed to that. Call it "The Beginning of Harmony". It can be a creation myth or the story of the two sisters, or both.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectEven for a series finale, there's little point going more DBZ than that. That's not to say it can't be topped, just that raising the power wank isn't a wise way to do it.
Ultimately, Tirek was Generic Ultimate Evil #4232. He can easily be topped by a much more personal villain, even one who isn't particularly powerful.
Honestly, the most interesting thing about Tirek wasn't his raw power level, but the fact that he was able to manipulate Discord like he did. Without that touch, he would've been really generic.
@Dark: Yeah, 2112 is awesome.
Reaction Image RepositoryI sort of liked Tirek more in the first part than I did the second. Where in the first part he seemed more understated and cunning, where as the second half, he just smashed his way through everything.
That's why I think King Sombra tends stand out against the other villains- as weird a that may sound. He doesn't have the capacity to ham it up like the others did. So he was more of a silent and plotting type.
"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkAgreed. He was cool to be sure, but really lacked in sheer menace, presence, and pragmatism in the original special, and to a lesser extent in part 2. Plus the voice was kinda hulkish, so didn't help much. Being a giant monster shooting lasers is a bit of a step down from the pulsing heartbeat of his weapon and body horror.

Warcraft and some villain talk.
