A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Back when I worked at the pizza place, we had this one guy who every time he came in would find something wrong with his pizza and go on a rant about how he'd lived in this town for twelve years as if that had any relevance to anything whatsoever (if it did, I could have just countered "Well I've lived here for 18, so go to hell"). One time he actually called his girlfriend on his cell during an argument with the manager and made him talk to her to confirm that he'd lived there for 12 years, or something equally stupid. Obviously he was just doing it to get free pizza, and I think we finally banned him after the fourth or fifth time, which is frankly longer than it should have taken.
Ike: Unfortunately, self-centred people are pretty much everywhere and louder than everyone else, so will seem to be greater in number. I once had a customer bring two milk cartons up to the counter pretty much just so she could tell me she didn't want one of them, as if we shouldn't stock it or something weird like that. The other two staff with me couldn't get her figured out at all, either. My ex used to work at a grocery store and once watched someone walk out and leave $100+ worth of groceries on the conveyer because they were mad that their 10 cents off coupon was expired. There was also another time when a customer was arguing over a 25 cent coupon, trying to get it applied to a product is shouldn't apply to.

@Sereg: The problem in this case is that there's nothing to measure. We have no hard data about how powerful the princesses are or how Equestrian tactics work.

Reaction Image RepositoryThe third customer I mentioned wasn't rude until the end. She thought I was, which confuses me. I greeted her, got no response, and then went back to the other work I was doing.
And yeah, I think we will all miss the treehouse.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/Crow: I have to say that I'm rather doubtful about it. The place is so dark and drab that I don't think it even installed enough windows. >.>

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayHonestly yeah now I see why the treehouse castle seems like a step down. It's design ethic doesn't fit in with the rest of Ponyville.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Luckily, Windows usually comes preinstalled. You actually have to go out of your way if you don't want Windows.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayMostly what I meant, but fair enough.
Sereg, I say this out of honest concern and not malice or condescension.
It has been pointed out time and again that you tend to pick and choose which details and observations are meaningful, and that you also tend to believe the explanation that you want to believe even when there's several possible ones that fit the evidence, most of which are also a lot simpler. If it was a one time thing, then you could be justified in ignoring it, but it's a consistent pattern of behavior that you exhibit, seen by a lot of intelligent people who have no ill will towards you. With how often it crops up, it's something that you really should reflect seriously on.
I say that because those patterns of thought are really bad for someone who wants to join a scientific field.
The new palace is Bigger on the Inside
Also, I feel compelled to point out that Twilight's book obsession is exaggerated by fanon. She doesn't care about books themselves; she finds them valuable because they contain KNOWLEDGE. Throughout the show she treats the physical books pretty roughly. As long as she can find replacements she'll be fine. And given she's a princess I'm sure she can manage.
Heck, in Trade Ya she didn't think Twice about getting rid of the books that she had already read.

Speaking of retail, I keep having upset customers this week.
Friday, Walgreens. Customer comes up to the counter to buy some sodas. 12-packs are on sale for 3 for $10, explicitly with card. The customer doesn't have a card, but I tell him it's free to sign up and we can literally do it during the transaction. He declines to sign up and says he's never coming to Walgreens again because we "lied to" him.
Sunday, Walgreens, customer tries to return 2 items without a receipt, a club card, or knowledge of how she paid for the items. One of the items wasn't even something we sell. After I spent a minute trying to see what I can do, she asks to talk to someone who knows what they're doing.
Today, my moms antique shop. A customer comes in to look around. I greet her, she either doesn't hear me or ignores me (which happens a lot). Meanwhile, 2 dealers are in the shop moving furniture, I got a call from another customer who wants to put something on hold, and mom called to say that plans for the day have changed. The customer comes up to the counter, makes a small purchase and then complains about how rude I was to her.
I fear this is becoming a trend. I don't like it.
