A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

To be fair he didn't really do much. He was boring, but that's a chicken and egg issue- did the blandness cause the lack of screentime, or vice versa.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/He was defined more by the traps he left than by the actions he took in the present. Like a Posthumous Character while he was still alive.
Yeah, I have to agree with Mio and say that Sombra could have been an amazingly cunning Chess Master, and I hope the latest comic arc does a little expanding on Equestria Prime!Sombra. Something is better than nothing.(Probably not, but I can hope.)
Which reminds me, still need to pick up the latest comic... >_>
On an unrelated note, since I missed all the discussion yesterday, I'd have to say my favorite thing about the finale was: watching my parents reactions.

"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkAnd yet Tirek achieved more in his episode than Sombra ever did. And ya need to do more than just growl and just say: "Crystals!" by the way.
@Princess Gwen Your parents watch the show huh? Interesting development here.

"Transform and Roll out!" Optimus PrimeOf course, Tirek also has the advantage of being to absorb magic from anyone so he had a bit of a leg up on Sombra from the get-go.
Reaction Image Repository@Star and Mike: They don't actually. They just happened to come downstairs when I was watching the second half. My mother went on a joking rant about how "back in [her] day, the shows [she] watched were never this complicated" and my dad cracking Avengers jokes during the fight seen. ("We have a John De Lancie.")
I always thought the most interesting thing about Sombra was the fact that he really didn't have to do anything in the episode proper; it was already done in advance. Like, it seemed he actually took his enemies seriously; which is refreshing.
"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkOh, hey, x86x2.

I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!
Nothing of value. Something about how the show was censored on some obscure European children's channel and how the show obviously sucks because of that. It was a pretty obvious sock of a guy who used to occasionally come on here to try to convince everyone that because this show and Barney And Friends aired on the same channel everyone who's a fan of MLP is obviously also a Barney fan in denial.
@ Marston: He was complaining (under a different name) about how Treehouse edited something out of It Ain't Easy Being Breezies. Then he said, "Don't question who I am."
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!Given the speed of the justice system, a death penalty is defacto life imprisonment anyway.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Star: I think my parents have quietly resigned to the fact they've raised a (wo)man-child and just decided to roll with it. Plus I think my dad is amused that MLP managed to rope John DeLancie in on the show. (He and I used to watch a lot of Star Trek: TNG re-runs when I was little.)
"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkWeird Al as well.
May not have the pedigree of star guests Adventure Time does, but they use all the voices they have available.
For me at least, it's very obvious about 7 actors are doing most of the side characters as well as mane cast, but instead of detracting it leaves me impressed. Not to mention two thirds of the Six are talking to each other.
Also according to the recent webcast with Megan and Tarra, she's now using skype and phone to record with the other actors since season 3, willing to work with the audio quality and retakes if it means working together. She also joins the studio whenever she's in Canada, and was about to record in person for a season 5 ep.

I thought Treehouse was Canadian.
Oh hi Tealove, have you considered adding a chapter to the story about your adventures?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play

@Sereg: I think you're extrapolating a bit much from very little information. All we know is that Celestia and Luna attacked Sombra together and that he cursed the empire. Nothing says that he cursed the empire while fighting Celestia and Luna, or that both of them were required to take him out. In fact, for the curse, this is what Celestia says:
All that this shows is that he cursed the empire before being defeated; it's entirely possible that he placed the curse before Celestia and Luna ever showed up.
Similarly, we know that Celestia and Luna jointly attacked him, but any ideas as to why they both felt the need to go are pure speculation. It might be that Sombra was too powerful for Celestia alone, but it also might be that she didn't know how powerful he was and wanted to bring backup, or maybe Luna just didn't want to be left out (keep in mind that chronologically this is shortly before she turned into NMM). We just don't have enough info to say for sure.
It's certainly plausible given how stupid powerful Sombra was, but to say that the episode implies it is a bit much.
