A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

@Librarian: It was pretty epic.
Also, it seems we have Our first Lord Tirek meme
.

Reaction Image RepositoryOkay- finally done watching the episode and reading 23 pages of comments here.
I'm... really wishing they had explained more about the tree of harmony. I knew that rainbow power was going to happen and that's how they would defeat Tirek. I knew they were going to unlock the chest. But I'd like to know how on earth that works.
I mean.. the tree, which I'm still not sure is alive, can grow gemstones and boxes. The gems themselves contain enough magical energy to send someone to the moon for a thousand years, turn someone to stone, rid them of evil influences, and who knows what else. The box, or the tree, can sense when an object has some kind of significance to its owner in relation to their element of harmony, and then turn that object into a key. When all the keys are present, they unlock super-empowering magic, and then later it magically creates an entire building.
I want to know. And I want to know why it exists. As is, it's an unexplained Deus ex Machina that does writers want it to do. I don't really like that.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/I think my only gripe about Rainbow Power besides Rarity's mane (I thought the others were fine, but the extra curls looked strange) was the Rainbow of Light. I like the built up with the individual beams coming together by the main part of the attack looked underwhelming especially when compared to the fight before it or even previous uses of the Rainbow of Light. Obviously that doesn't detract from how awesome this finale was.

Alright, time to do this.
- So Spike, what did we learn last week about getting too full of yourself?
- Spike: Absolutely nothing!
- Rarity
'd my point about Rainbow
- Dammit, Flash, stop being in things if you're not going to bother developing an actual character first!
- Nice subtle moment of characterization/relationship with Cadance's "But..." there.
- ...well shit, that was one of the best songs in a long time. And I really like the issue it opens with: it's so common in our narratives, especially coming of age stories, to treat milestones like graduation, getting a girlfriend, starting a business, etc. as the destination itself. It's really refreshing to see this story acknowledge that, no, you're not done just because you finished this one big thing; now you have to move on to the next big thing, and it can be scary, lonely, and confusing if you don't know what that next thing is. A+.
- Is that the same street Trixie bought the Alicorn Amulet on?
- You can tell Tirek must be evil, because Tirek has hands.
- "Oh Luna! I just had the most terrible dream!"
- "I know! I was watching!
- Ooh, the storybook! Nice callback.
- Well, add another note to the Starswirl mythos.
- Ooh, It's About Time callback!
- Heh, nice cut to the girls.
- Rarity: "Oh, well, actually, I do need a model for an upcoming fashion shoot..."
- Discord Poppins? Oh dear.
- "It's true. He usually dreams about sardines and cream cheese re-enacting Renaissance Faire bloopers. Honestly, I think he's doing it on purpose to screw with me."
- Jesus, Pinkie! Did you inhale a balloon before that line read?
- Browjack!
- "There's only one way to find out!"
- "You mean open it?"
- -deathglare-
- Cut to the library
- Well, I'm glad they're not wasting time beating around the bush before getting to the right book.
- Okay, the head-split dodge was cool.
- Oh god, the face after "It's mostly for Fluttershy." XD
- I quite like the interaction between Tirek and Discord. I'm pretty sure he's gonna stick to friendship, but he'll either be swayed temporarily or, more likely, just play along for a bit.
- "You didn't let it make you abandon your generous spirit... for very long."
- A few months later, Cheese passed through town again and asked Pinkie how his best friend in the whole world, Boneless, was doing.
- "Oh, I turned him into a key and left him sticking out of a box in the woods!"
- Derpy!
- "Um, okay... so then, how are we planning to fight back after we've given up our magic?"
- "Oh, now you think you know better than me? Do I need to take back that musical number from earlier?"
First half down!

What did the Marquee say, anyway?
I'm not counting that since it started before the actual finale.

Reaction Image Repositoryo_O. That was impressive. Genre Shift first to a shonen battle anime, then to a Magical Girl Warrior! The plot, the production values, the characterization and growth for Discord.
That is how you do a motherfucking season finale.
Fuck yeah.
The whole "Twilight doesn't DO anything" bitching all season from people about her apparent lack of royal duties and not seeming to actually having any new responsibilities or anything.
It's the same crowd that would have bitched and moaned if the writers had immediately made Twilight's role and duties clear at the start of S4. Damned if you do, damned if you don't
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!![]()
Now we get to have a whole season of people bitching that the Round Table has changed everything/hasn't changed anything!

IT! WAS! AWESOME!
