A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

I went through all of Kill La Kill recently. It was actually pretty damn good.
Speaking of the word reboot, that reminds me that I have a boxed set of Reboot I need to marathon at some point.
I kinda feel like KLK petered off near it's end. It may have just been burnout, but I guess I'm a bit disappointed in some of the directions the plot took.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.I'm also currently going through Avatar The Last Airbender during my lunch hours, largely because it pops up so often and I want to know what all the fuss is about.

Ugh, yeah I watched that one earlier this week and was thoroughly underwhelmed. Way to pull a resolution out of your behind, Aang. As a whole it's been pretty good so far, although it's hardly been at OMFG SO AWESOME levels. I wish they would develop the character dynamics between Aang, Katara, and Sokka a bit more rather than continuously sidetracking them. Couple of the episodes have felt pretty filler-y, but nothing too bad. Iroh is made of awesome, though.

Reaction Image RepositoryYes Iroh is, and what book are you in? If still in water, yeah that was most filler-ish season, though still hate that word. It's more random, just plot of the week with a few things growing over time. Things get a lot more epic and more focused in Earth.
Also, penultimate episode the writers give themselves a Take That Us over just how infamously bad that episode was.

Then season 3 splits the difference. Several key, important episodes, but less overall singular plot. Season 1 you can watch the episodes in almsot any order. Baring a few small things. Season 2 nope watch in order or your screwed. Season 3, has a few major episodes, but the ones in between can pretty much be moved around at will.
AtLA Season 2 also has Appa being awesome. Seriously, <3 Appa.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiAnd Iroh... just.. Iroh, granted that's every season but.. Iroh's Day

Pretty much this. Siege was where the story really kicked into gear, and it lasted all through season 2 till Crossroads of Destiny and.. the HSQ is beyond any ability to explain in that one.
Plus one of the crowning moments of Hilarious in Hindsight
Zuko: That... wasn't a good play.

I actually liked the ending to the Great Divide. Making up a story to settle the feud is very trickster god-like, which fits Aang quite well. I agree that the rest of the episode is pretty lame, though. I don't think the show really hit its stride until the season 1 finale, and while I think the show is pretty great, sometimes even awesome overall, I don't put it on the pedastal some people do.
It's especially fitting as of Season 2 of Korra, since Wan is pretty much a solid Trickster archetype.
That said, there are some Moral complications to it...
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.@Wryte: On one hand I can kinda see that, but on the other, it kinda contradicts Aang's typical Pollyanna-ish approach to everything. He tends to always look for the path that he feels is right rather than being pragmatic, so seeing him decide to just lie his way out of the situation rather than try to, you know, actually help them work out the conflict seemed sort of like a cheat. Not to mention that if either tribe pulled out a history book there's a good chance of them realizing that he's talking out of his ass. That and the conflict as a whole just felt sort of... manufactured. The way the two tribes were complaining at each other felt almost parodic at some points with how needlessly antagonistic they were.
That said, there have been some pretty good episodes as well. "The King of Omashu" was hilarious (though it opens the plothole of why Aang didn't hang around to learn some earthbending) and the Winter Solstice episodes were really interesting. And most of Zuko and Iroh's stuff is good, mainly because it delves into backstory more, which is something that the other three main cast members haven't gotten much of yet.

Reaction Image RepositoryThat's not a plot hole. While it's not explained WHY, the Avatar has to learn the elements in the order of the cycle. So he couldn't start learning Earthbending until he'd gotten a good grasp of Water first.

Yeah and his attempts at skipping the cycle and learning Firebending early... didn't go so well.

Actually, Season 1 ended a little less than a year ago. And ye, Season 2 is starting this summer.
