A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

It's treally boring and tedious to play, games are overly long, and the luck element greatly dominates the strategy element. So basically the opposite of what you want in a board game.
And to make matters worse, there are near universal houserules that make the game even longer and more tedious.
Sometimes I suspect that noone actually plays monopoly, they just collected all the themed versions just cause.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYeah, the main issue with Monopoly is that it relies too much on chance as opposed to strategy. A bad dice roll can screw you over.
Reaction Image RepositoryI wonder if I could just buy the tokens. I rather fancy the little top hat thing.
I always had this thing where I would pick the top hat, but I would play with it upside-down as if begging for change, until I get a full color set.
I've never had the chance to play Settlers of Catan, but it sounds interesting. I want to try it sometime.

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...Ohmygosh, there's an Adventure Time/MLP shirt for sale.
Too bad I don't have the bits to buy it. :<

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectA lot of main stream board games lean heavily on chance. Stuff like Pay Day, Game of Life, Trouble and Snakes and Ladders are largely dice rolls. Hell, many of the more niche/complicated games are still rather beholden. Last Night on Earth or Arkham Horror can both be made or broken, not only just on a dice roll or two, but on card draws. Cards Against Humanity is full of cards that are overly rigid/specific and I've gotten an entire hand full of them on multiple occasions. Although, I suppose none of those can stalemate anywhere near as hard as Monopoly can.
Kyler: I'm not 100% sure on this, but I seem to remember them selling packs of extra money and replacement board pieces, so you might be able to find the top hat in one of those.

XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider!I played it once and it was great, even though I didn't understand the strategy that much.
That's why European board games are much better.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Kyler: You gotta recognize Mr. Chester A. Bum.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectMonopoly just has the benefit of being well-known. Plus it has a tendency to spam bajillions of crossover boards, which bring in people who like the thing it's crossed over with. Hey, y'know, this sounds strangely like the crossover fanfiction strategy.

I dunno. But it certainly couldn't hurt to have a popular movie sell girls on archery.
