A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I'm not really invested enough to comment. That and I think the two songs are different enough that trying to make a direct comparison isn't going to work anyway. The two songs are sung in different contexts by different types of characters. The only thing they have in common is the general style. "Let It Go" is primarily a character development moment for Elsa: it shows that she's accepted herself for who she is while establishing that she still believes that isolation is the best course of action, which sets up the second half of the movie. "This Day Aria" has two purposes; to contrast Cadance and Chrysalis in terms of their roles in the plot as well as how they relate to Shining Armor, and also to serve as a backing montage to condense the leadup to the wedding ceremony.
One is primarily a characterization song, and one focuses more on plot development.

Reaction Image Repository@Seasons:
I actually have a hard time comparing S1 with later seasons. It has its own sort of feel to it. While I think the "only Faust does it right" camp is deluding themselves, since I've quite enjoyed what the other seasons have given us so far, you can't really deny that when she became less directly involved the show changed quite a bit.
Honestly I think S2 on is a bit more comedy based and has a lot wider range of Slice of Life plots. When you casually throw in Time Travel and a big backstory episode into the Slice of Life format you can tell the writers are willing to go further with the fantasy elements.

Yeah the first season really has a unique feel to it. It's just a bit different from the later seasons due to how reserved it is. The later ones were all made after they realized how popular it was, so it just has a slightly different flavor than the original "we're doing this mostly for ourselves" vibe it had at first.
Anyway, I should be getting to bed now.

Reaction Image RepositoryTomorrow is my sister's birthday.
She has school tomorrow (8 til 3). I have work tomorrow (4 til 10:30). Mom has work tomorrow (11 til 5).
Dad has a problem with celebrating today, even though everyone but him is busy tomorrow. He suggested mom close her shop for the day, which mom kind of can't do. It's open every day of the year except major holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving.
And so he's saying mom cares more about her shop than about my sister.
So mom refuses to have celebrate today because dad is being a jerk.
Which means that either way, dad wins because mom feels like shit.
-_-
I really, really hate my dad sometimes.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/I'll be fine. I'm better than I used to be. And in a few years, maybe I can move in with Gwen.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI can be used for shocking pictures that are actually quite funny but no they are pretty shocking too
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI can't find the original comic, so the context is a bit hard to explain.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectTrue, but restrictions can create possibilities never thought of otherwise. Egghead's now a signature phrase of Rainbow Dash, and distinct.
Aside from the pilot, s1 reminds me of MLP Tales, just with better production value and at a full 22 minutes. For lack of a better term, it has a bit of classic pony flavor.
Not really?
Rarity made what is implied to be a giant dick, and Twilight is both aghast and enraptured by it, flicking back and forth between glee and disgust.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes. The context to that picture is, during Rarity's inspiration transformations, she turned a water tower into a phallus.
oh you son of a bitch. Ninja'd by 20 seconds!

http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/But the nice part is that you can apply that sequence to other things as well.

Yeah, Ticketmaster was hilarious. Of course I watched season 1 completely out of order, so the episode that got me hooked was probably OAB.
