A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

In that picture that shows what might be Bulk Biceps's mom, I can also see what looks like Braeburn on the right edge of the picture. Makes me wonder if Appleoosa may have had some competitors in the Equestria Games too, since individual cities had their own teams (such as the Ponyville and Cloudsdale teams).
And speaking of Over A Barrel, I realized that the "Spike tries to sing the Cloudsdale anthem" part is a reversal of when Pinkie sings her "Gotta Share, Gotta Care" song. In this story, Spike is singing a song that almost everyone dislikes except for Pinkie (who sure looked like she was enjoying it) and in Over A Barrel, Pinkie sings a song that pretty much everyone things is bad (it was the one thing Sheriff Silverstar and Chief Thunderhooves could agree on) except for Spike who was the only one applauding her at the end.

So... Are the Equestrian Games international or not? You mention saddle Arabians so it sounds like it is. But if so, why is it called the Equestrian games? That's like calling the Olympics the Greek Games (or American Games, or etc).
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/@ Ike: It's kinda like the World Series not actually involving baseball teams from all over the world. Or something.
Well, the only Saddle Arabians we saw were spectators.
On the other hand, there was a team of griffons competing in the aerial relay. On the other other hand, it's possible that Equestria has some number of griffon citizens.
Maybe "The Equestria Games" is an Artifact Title, from the days before Equestria's allies were allowed to compete.
@Rainbow: Good catch on the parallel to "Over a Barrel".
My guess is that it's an Artifact Title; the games were started by Equestria by eventually expanded to allow for non-ponies to compete. Like how the modern Olympics don't take place at Olympia.
Reaction Image RepositoryYou know I seriously question that a small podunk town like Ponyville was able to win the medal count, just because that's where the main characters are from. As to the Saddle Arabians and such; do we know for a fact that Saddle Arabia ISN'T part of Equestria?
So, I saw the commercial for the finale and it looks like Discord will be appearing to deal with a new bad guy. I'm reminded of what Tia said in Keep Calm and Flutter On; something about maybe needing him in case something bad happened later. I guess this is what she was planning for?

Cloudsdale: We have a professional team.
Ponyville: We have a Rainbow Dash.
Fun fact: The 1904 Olympics was basically all Americans.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Will: We discussed that earlier. Boils down to
A: Ponyville can field ponies in all three types of events, unlike other towns who seem to focus on single pony types (i.e. Cloudsdale is mostly Pegasi, Canterlot is mostly unicorns, etc.); gives them more chances to medal than other cities.
B: Ponyville is growing after the events of the past few seasons.

Huh, apparently the guy behind It's A Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door is starting a sequel.
Didn't much care for it, but I know some have read it in the fandom's early days.
