A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

... Okay, this book is really powerful. And evil. Maybe not as powerful or evil as the Alicorn Amulet, but it's pretty close. It can spontaneously create and transform objects, and it can alter biological creatures as well, up to and including gender flips. Wow.
Actually the fact that the wielder doesn't even need the book after a day or two might put it on level with the amulet, which gives more power but requires the wielder to wear it. I guess it's a bit of a trade-off.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/Maybe they forgot about it. It happens.
^ It's less a book than a spirit that semi-possesses the reader. Much like Nightmare Moon, probably.

Also I'm still ticked that I can't get that stupid emulator to work. -_-
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/Plus it seems to be relatively limited to matter-altering spells. The alicorn Amulet was a blanket power-up, so energy emitting spells like barriers were still viable, plus fusions and mutations. Not sure the Book-ghost could do that.
@Rhyme: The odd thing is, all of Sombras traps seemed to use the same visual effect, which is pretty unique and has been explicitly referred to as Alicorn Magic, so I'm not sure it constitutes Dark Magic. Though it would still be neat, I think, if there was a sort of 'force' thing going on, where no kind of magic is inherently evil,, it's just a matter of how it's used.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.Well, the book-ghost can gender bend ponies, and probably age alter them as well. And even with the amulet Trixie couldn't do that.
As for other mutations and transformations, I'm sure it's possible- rarity just isn't the type to make grotesque things.

You could run your problem by the Computer Thread.
They seem like a knowledgeable bunch.
Syd- thanks for the tip. I made a post there about the initial problem I had, hope they can help.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/@Fleetfoot: A flu implies the possibility of getting out of school and work. Which implies I can finally get some much-needed rest. But school and work imply not failing and getting more money that can be spent on dolls and shenanigans at Disney World.
@Star: Maybe not, but I do love listening to Tabitha St.Germain go crazy.
@Ike: It's okay. I get a cold once a year, but it's usually in February. I'm just pissed that it picked now. I don't need this now.

@Fleetfoot I think I know who your talking about, regarding that tonic that is. I have a hunch and if it's correct the ponies who sold you that tonic have pretty much skipped town. Anyways, any improvements?

"Transform and Roll out!" Optimus Prime

I really liked the episode overall, but I gotta admit... I wanna know more about that book. What's the backstory there?
I'd like them to delve into it a little more as well, but it's most likely a never-to-be-mentioned-again plot device.
