A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

@wereael: They would have listened to her sure, but there's no reason they would have been so hyped to hang out with her. There's plenty of indication that it's because she's a princess now. In addition to the line I quoted above there's also these.
Sweeite Belle: They all think we're the greatest, because we're their ticket to get time with Ponyville's newest and biggest celebrity, Princess Twilight!
Later
Sweetie Belle: What's tricky about inviting Twilight out for a meal thanking her for all the nice things she's done for us? Seems like the least we can do for the princess!
Pipsqueak: Did someone say "princess"?
Later again
Pipsqueak: Wow, to think I've been to the Hay Burger so many times, never knowing it's a regular hangout for a princess!
Yet more later
Pipsqueak: Because then I could get all my classmates to do me favors and stuff because I'm friends with a famous princess!

This is a story where a Godlike Doggirl shrinks down a couple planets to carry with her and then flies off on a giant golden battleship to literally break the fourth wall in order to escape the destruction/resetting of her universe, and you're asking about how their dna works?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYes, I am. I'm fine having "magic" as an explanation for superpowers. But the characters exist as a result of time travel, and there is a gaping Plot Hole in the time travel in the form of an ontological paradox. There had never been a hand wave saying "they exist because magic/destiny says so." They just do.
If they had just been spontaneously created in test tubes in space, along with the entire fricking universe that Sburb made, that would be fine. But no. They don't come from magic, they come from nowhere.

http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/Again Quantum. Also Paradox. Yeah they suck but, that's kind of the point of them.
Hell MLP has one, Twi's knowledge about how to travel back in time came from Future Twilight, who only heard it when she was Past Twi and got told it by Future Twi. Further the only reason she traveled back in time was because of her traveling back in time.
BUT since it seems Equestria runs on Stable Time Loop it works out. The question isn't does time travel make sense in and of itself, the question is is it used consistently? Does it have the same rules at all times? If all Time Travel ends up in a Stable Time Loop, then no issue. It makes no sense, but clearly somehow it works.
No it wouldn't given the whole point of it was the foals freaking out over her being an alicorn. And so there would be nothing driving them to do what they did without that.

Sburb is a seeding program for the universe. It's the means by which a universe propagates itself. Given that, it's possible that the universe itself created the kids for the sake of initiating the program - a sort of self-fertalization. Or, the DNA enters from another universe in a form of inter-spatial sex.
Bear in mind, the world Homestuck takes place in is literally called paradox space. IT relies on gaming the rules of the universe for anything to happen in the first place.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.I remember back when I was a kid, I went to see the Jimmy Neutron movie, and kept complaining about all the scientific inaccuracies afterwards. It wasn't until much later that I realized I was an idiot because it wasn't supposed to be remotely accurate and that I was completely missing the point. I think you're currently suffering from a similar problem with Homestuck.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYou really think that Diamond Tiara would squee over a nerdy court mage?

Well, first of all I'll point out that you're backpedaling. You're original point had nothing to do with the fact that the story could work that way, you were outright saying that the story was intended that way.
"And BTW, Twilight Time had nothing to do with her being an alicorn."
"Everyone just seemed interested in Twilight helping the CMC because of how she seemed to be the smartest person in Ponyville, or merely by merit of being an adult. Or at least that's how I saw it. Heck, I think they only mention her status as a princess once or twice as a throwaway line."
Second, like Seraphem said, you can't really prove a negative, but it isn't like everyone acted like Twi was hot shit just because she was Celestia's student, so I don't see why the kids would be all that excited.
I know I should just ignore it, but I have a lot of difficultly with that sometimes.
Time travel in general is one of my berserk buttons.
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/The paradox in Its About Time was pretty tame. The real problem is that it's one of those One Use Plot Device Episodes.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayEither way, time travel is advanced magic that few unicorns could take advantage of. The princesses and maybe a handful of others could use them for anything. What exactly would they need it for?

http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/..... You mean the same DT that only grudgingly admitted that she guesses Pinkie Pie's party was alright. And has never interacted with any of the other Mane 6.. and who has never shown a single bit or respect towards any pony except her father?
No.. not.. even close and not even a hint of that.. ever. The only time any foal has 'looked up to' any of the mane 6, (Discounting the CMC) was the RD fan club in MMDW. Which again was because she was 'cool'.
Also.. it was MMDW.
Oh right and Snips and Snails geeking out over Twilight's magic at the end of Boast Busters.

It's not meant to be an explanation. using 'Quantum' as the 'explanation', is basically admitting, yeah it makes no goddamn sense at all. But it needed to happen for the story, so "Quantum" we have no idea how or why it was able to work, but somehow it did, some Quantum effect let it happen. Very very blatant handwaving of it while admitting it's just that.
