A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I really do not get this at all. Are people just completely ignoring that Rainbow Dash quickly realized what happened, went straight to Twilight to dispute the trade, was able to get Fluttershy back, and even managed to get Fluttershy the bird whistle she wanted?

No, see, it's not enough for a character to be able to recognize a mistake and work to correct it. Characters have to be perfect right from the start. Otherwise, how can we feel better by projecting ourselves onto them?
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.@ Ako: This person didn't even wait 12 hours before stating "Rainbow Dash gets a lot of flak from the fandom for allowing Fluttershy to be part of the trade for the book."
Does she really? I only saw one comment here. I don't frequent 4chan, where it's probably a different story.
Yes, Wereael is a new guy who seems to know all about us.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!Re "Rainbow Dash gets a lot of flak": I only ever see that ludicrous logic (i.e. judging characters first and foremost by how much of a role model they are) in western cartoon fans and Moral Guardians. I wonder why that is.
I liked the new story fine, although it probably wasn't as personal to me as it would be to others because I don't have any notable memories of doing any bartering, even with something like Pokemon cards. I realized later that Pinkie's emphasis on "these books belonged to a PRINCESS!!!" is probably a commentary on people selling otherwise inexpensive items for high prices because those items were owned by someone famous, and perhaps also commentary on the toyline and advertising making a bigger deal over Twilight being a princess than the show usually does.
And I always like it when Fluttershy befriends some creature that would normally be vicious or scary, especially since it was a two-headed dog and I'm very much a dog lover.

She just walked right up to it without a second thought and was like, "That's enough of that, naughty puppy."
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!I missed the new episode, but I think everyone's descriptions painted a clear picture in my mind. So, to recap, Pinkie tried to force Twilight to trade for something that wasn't a book, and Dash -sold- traded Flutters into slavery for a Daring Do book?
"Moody Stops Bicycle Theft, Takes No Prisoners"- Harry Potter and the Natural 20Pinkie actually tried to get Twilight to up-sell - Twilight was originally gonna trade a bunch of unused books for what basically amounts to nothing, but Pinkie stopped the trade and took over, trying to trade the books for some ridiculously valuable stuff - under pretty flimsy pretenses, too. She claimed that Twilight would be breakign the rules by accepting something she didn't want, but Pinkie didn't exactly ask what Twilight did want when she was bartering on Twilight's behalf.
As for Dash and Fluttershy, Dash actually traded a large two-headed dog for the book, but part of the trade stipulated Fluttershy had to train the dog first. Which was said quickly while Dash clearly wasn't paying attention, so it's possible Dash didn't even realize what the terms were until she tried to stop it.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.@Wereael: It's the exact opposite, actually. Twilight was happy to give her books away, but Pinkie didn't want her to give it up without getting something noteworthy out of it (Twilight was gonna trade it for a broken quill pen), so Pinkie kept hyping up Twilight's books until they were so overhyped that no one wanted them anymore.
Idiots have been posting inappropriate YMMV tropes on the day an episode airs based on their personal reactions for as long as it's been going. Just delete and move on.

I remember reading a story years ago where Madonna was P.O'd at a person who had given her a pedicure, because this person was trying to sell a set of her toenail clippings. I believe the asking price was $60.
This was before eBay.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!Peoples is weird, yo.
Also, I was wondering if there was any special story about the pony in the wheelchair selling the Discord lamps? I thought his design was kinda adorable, and stood out a lot; even without the wheelchair.

@ Wereael: I bailed halfway through. I don't like videos of people screaming at me.
Also, I don't 420. I just post that way.
