A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

I've only seen clips from the "Cars" movies. They don't look like something that would appeal to me.

I do want to see "Frozen", though. It's on Xfinity On Demand for $5.99. That's a little too pricey for my blood.

I've only seen the first one. It was... okay, but it was definitely the weakest of the Pixar movies when it came out. The sequel only got worse, from what I've heard. And yeah, it's aggravating that they're making sequels for it instead of working on something better.

I'm okay with Cars as a thing, because it basically funds the studio. As long as they don't ever completely shift over to it or properties like it, I'm good.

Just gimme more Brave, dammit. I want more chronologically nebulous Scottish goodness.

Cars is Pixar's Cash Cow franchise. Even the company admits it. Hell its probably the ONLY Pixar series to have actual toy merchandise outside of Toy Story and maybe Brave. The fact they're putting out a third one means they'll be needing the money for something BIG.......

Just make sure you see it before the sequel comes out.

Then yes. They've announced a trilogy of sequel movies, largely focusing on the antics of Olaf and the reindeer.

See, I don't get that. I've always hated*

Cars, from the first movie. I think it's so much worse than Pixar's other movies, don't know why it's popular.

I don't get it either, but apparently kids are nuts for Cars toys. Even as a kid I don't think I would have been into Cars merch, so I don't know why they're so popular. Grumble grumble kids today.

The movies themselves are the worst performing ones they make, but the merchandise tie ins are gold mines apparently.
