A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I have never really stumbled upon a technique that really works for me.
@JT: Fair enough. I figure everyone just had their own opinion on what constituted effective learning, so they put Twi down a bit.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectI agree with this, and it's my biggest annoyance.
If RD can't bring herself to give a shit and put in some effort, then frankly, she doesn't deserve all that effort her friends put in to teach her.
I think RD was SUPPOSED to be at fault for the first half because she didn't even realize how important it is to learn the history. As I side note I'm amused that in the 1000 year history of the Wonderbolts as an organization the test only seems to require knowledge on their equivalent of the American Revolution. Unless the test was much more complicated but most of it was cut out because the audience doesn't need the unabridged version.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I thought those were just the initial squad, EG the equivalent of the American Founding Fathers.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Yeah, Dash was being her usual cocky self until the sudden realization hit her: "I don't know this stuff. I am so screwed."
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!@Rhyme: I agree with that. I don't think Twi's methods were meant to be failures, since it's obvious they worked for her. It's just that everypony else thought their ideas were better, so there's a little condescension on their parts.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau Projectno, to many to just be that. Especially in Rarity's part, as she talked about how the Wonderbolts costume evolved over time while mentioning which were the first ones to wear the various versions.
@ Mio, yeah she stuck around hoping her friends way s would help, because like sh said, she never learned how to learn. Which ye IS something you need to do. So was panicking.
Those first Wonderbolts uniforms didn't look very aerodynamic.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!So it occurs to me that there's also an Earth Pony and unicorn equivalent to the Wonderbolts. It would make sense that the Canterlot Guard is probably what happened to the U branch of the EUP, but what about the Earth Pony defense organization?

EDIT: Or how about, the Mareines?
My blood runs cold, my memory has just been sold

Celestia that's a painful pun.
The Earth Pony, Unicorn, Pegasus defense force. It was a part of the history lesson.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.@seraphem: She seems to have known about the test for sometime, she should have already realized she didn't know anything. If she is literally only finding out the day before then she has problems that need initiative on her part to resolve, which she doesn't put in. I don't care if she doesn't "know how to learn", she should have been trying ANYTHING instead of just passively being paraded around by her friends and giving up when she doesn't receive instant results.
When it comes down to it, this is her big dream. The thing that she has wanted more then anything else. And when it comes to needing to do something she doesn't necessarily want or know how to do, she gives up with barely any effort. I don't care if it was something that she wasn't good at. All I wanted to see is that she wanted it badly enough that to knuckle down and at least, and if not for the episode to rightfully call her out on it.
But no, we learn that she can accomplish anything easily if you can tangentially connect it to flying. It's not like she is capable of anything else. Makes it easy!

Here come the edits.
(possibly NSFW)
Except she sees them as fliers, that is what she loves about them, and all she sees as being needed. She knows she has the flying skills to join them. She just blew off the test as nothing that mattered, because to her, what does a written test mean when she's such a great flyer?
It wasn't until Twilight made her face that she DID need to know this, made her realize how screwed she would be that it hit her. At which point, yeah she tagged along, because that's all she COULD do, she had no idea how to study.
And no it wasn't "Anything related to flying comes easy" cop out. It was something that really DOES make a ton of sense. She is used to gathering and processing a rather staggering amount of information while flying, all without even trying. It's natural to take advantage of that fact.

Well yeah she COULD have tried harder. But keep in mind that at that point, she wasn't really trying,. It wasn't till after the pop quiz she realized she really didn't know anything, Till then she was just being cocky.
