A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

All of the usual forum rules apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I don't know WHAT the Hell happened (I blame shenanigans) but we're going to start from scratch. Post your feels for this awesome show again! Naow!

I can accept the mechanical flight thing, but I don't think there's any precedent for glyph/rune-based magic. Unless I'm forgetting something.

@Dark: Yeah, there are workarounds for most cases.

@Kegi: Good point. There's also Manehatten, a modern style Earth Pony city that is also an economic and most likely an industrial hub as well.

@Ace's theory for fire for the three tribes: Was it bad that I thought the earth ponies discovered fire via use of magma?

Anywho, I'm without not much to input for now.

There are magical potions though. I'm assuming any tribe could use them?

@Nes: That would not be surprising. There might even be a dwarfish sect of Earth Ponies that live in the earth and prefer caves and cultivate lichens and fungus for food.

They could probably drink them and get the effect, but it's a bit more dubious if any tribe could make them. It could easily be an EP specific thing.

Of course if it is, that would mean that all of the tribes have probably discovered some way of utilizing magic. There are clearly artifacts that aren't race-exclusive but still tied to magic from a pony, so they all have the potential in some way or another.

I hear those bat ponies are cave dwellers. Maybe they are like dwarfs, which would be awesome!

That's very true.

(comes in manor, blood shot eyes, a gash on forehead, dried blood on nose, angry face) Hey, everypony. (pulls out Sonic 06 for PS 3, throws it to ground, pulls out pistol, fire off the entire round into it, then throws game into fireplace) I beat Sonic 06. I have to go to work. I'll see you guys tomorrow.

I don't think mixing potions would be exclusive to any one tribe, especially if you have a formula to go on. But in terms of creating new recipes, pegasi may be at a bit of a disadvantage. An earth pony might have some weird inherent herblore talent, and a unicorn might have a spell to analyze a reagent's properties.

Then again, I guess it's not always plants. Love poison used stuff like a pegasus feather, a tuft of cloud, and a rainbow (however that works).

I've always thought that a talent can bypass some inherent restrictions. Pinkie for instance an earth pony can use abilities beyond unicorns if it's funny.

And if Zecora was teaching Apple Bloom about potions and later Twi, I'm pretty sure any race could make them.

I recall that all the ingredients for the love potion were something that only a pegasus could easily acquire for him/herself.

@Meta: Does that mean there's invariably a pegasus in the air who can invoke love at will, kinda like that greek god of love?

I just had an idea, and I have a question to ask because of it. Is there a list of ponies by cutie mark anywhere?

Hey gang, just got back from Reading AGAIN, bought myself an Adventure Time poster and just waiting for my mum to get off the phone so she can give me something to eat because I haven't had anything at all apart from having a late breakfast.

@Ed Funny, I saw that yesterday with a mate. And those are pretty much my thoughts on that movie.

@Ed I found the scene when Bucky takes the injured Captain America to the shore after they fought on the Helicarrier to be quite touching cuz after Cap said that he'd be there by his side he dropped the mission in order to save him and I presume managed to get help. text

And Arnim Zola, aka the talking computer, was creepy as hell. I will say no more in this thread.

I thought it was more impressive than creepy, but then I've always been a bit of a fan of AI's.
