A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Leap of Faith was an episode. ._.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!So that was really predictable, but I still enjoyed it. Thoughts:
Flim and Flam have got away scot free twice now.
Ponyville residents have no pattern recognition. Must be something in the water.
Wait, what if AJ spends her Key? Will the mane six have to steal it back?
Hah, Time Turner gave it a ten. I get it.
Yay another Flim and Flam song!
Hey, no one arrest Silver Shill or anything.
Can Twilight please do something this season.

I know, right? Whenever she does show up in a S4 episode, she's been ridiculously bland after the premier. We already have 3 uninteresting Reasonable Authority Figure's, we don't need a 4th one, especially not one who use to be funny, flawed and interesting.
That's what I was wondering.
You know, goldfish actually have a pretty good memory.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayIt's a problem quite a few characters have. Once they go through character development, they're less interesting. Without her social awkwardness, Twilight loses a lot of her charm.
And, before anyone says it, no I don't want Twilight to snap back to her previous self and no I don't want her to have a Lesson Zero style breakdown every time she has a focus episode. But the writers need to be something with her. She's essentially become Celestia Lite.
I don't know, maybe focus on her new responsibilities and authority as a princess. Something like that.
You guys are good. It took me until the talk with Silver Shill before the competition to figure that out.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Purple: Yeah, I'd really love to see something that focuses on her trying to balance her responsibilities with her role as a friend. Something that acknowledges her development without removing her flaws.

I saw we just find perfectly ordinary, boring quotes from the thread. There are certainly enough of them.
Looks like someone did a Scootaloo Kiwi reference after all
.
Yeah that was awesome.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayExactly. An episode where, say, Twilight tries to attend a peace conference and Gummy's birthday party at the same time would be welcome.
I liked this one, and I'm very glad that it turned out in a way that pleased me. This is because the element of Honesty is the one that I most identify with, personally, and I was very glad to see that it spoke out for telling the truth even when it's inconvenient or uncomfortable. That makes for a good counter-story to when Discord messed with her mind by telling her that "the truth hurts so it's better to tell lies" that turned her temporarily into the infamous Liarjack. Kind of makes me wonder if Discord would ever read that diary the ponies are making, or ever read any of the letters Twilight and the others have sent to Celestia.
One thing I'd comment on is the way the ponies are so eager to believe the Flim Flams even if they had been tricked before. I think there are a few aspects to this. One is that perhaps pony culture is big on giving second chances, which is a theme that has cropped up before in the show, with Nightmare Moon/Luna in the very beginning, to Trixie at the end of Magic Duel, to even Discord himself. They could have thought "even if their apple cider wasn't good, that doesn't mean their health tonic is going to be bad." Another is that ponies are very easily swayed by charismatic figures who sing catchy songs, which would go with some other things we've seen in the show such as Pinkie's Smile song and the way that Cheese Sandwich got popular so quickly when he did his performing song and dance. The third might contradict the second (these are just guesses I thought of) but perhaps the Flim Flams weren't as memorable in the long-term to the ponies as they were to us. We viewers of the show have gone and rewatched episodes and memorized songs but unless Equestria has movie cameras that would have recorded the Super Cider Squeezy incident, that incident might have faded in the public memory of most ponies who weren't personally affected by the Flim Flam brothers' actions aside from being disgusted by bad cider. Applejack's personal livelihood was threatened, so it's natural that she would remember them, but it might not have stuck in the other ponies' minds as much that "these guys sell inferior products" especially if what they did remember was the catchy song. As tropers, we remember classic characters like the slick con artist types that the Flim Flam brothers are ponified versions of, but the ponies might not have those specific stereotypes in their minds that come from human films and TV shows, so they wouldn't necessarily associate the way the Flim Flams act and dress as being hints that they're obvious con artists.
One other thing that I noticed is not only the similarity to Dumbo's Magic Feather plot in concept (someone uses a placebo to gain confidence) but also that unless I'm forgetting something, the magic feather part of Dumbo involved Dumbo having to do a high dive into a pool of water. So I was wondering if that was also a shout-out in itself, or just a coincidence, although Granny Smith did wear an unusual-looking swimming outfit and Dumbo was dressed like a clown during that part.

Also, the only thing the Flim Flams did wrong the first time is trying to sell crappy cider. It doesn't mean their tonic is bad, especially with 'proof'.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI think the writers want to make it so My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic doesn't become My Little Pony: Twilight is Super Special Awesome like people were bitching about in season 3. Thus, the whole Rainbow Power includes the rest of the M6.
I believe I've voiced my opinion on how I'd like some main character and secondary character interaction, like the Friends Forever comics. There's a bunch of relationships we really haven't touched upon yet, and it doesn't have to write out the main characters. (ie Twilight and Zecora, Flutters and Discord, ect.)
Hell, write an episode with Celestia and/or Luna with Twilight.

"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkI want to see a Twilight and Discord episode. Like a followup to Three's A Crowd. There were some really interesting dynamics in there, and I think there's an interesting parallelism with the characters: both of them have only recently learned to appreciate friendship as something worth pursuing, and initially they have lots of difficulty with how to do it. Twilight is further along than Discord is, so having her get frustrated with him over it only to realize that she's been through something similar.
In other news, I finally got around to watching Frozen and I really enjoyed it. I think it was a bit slow to start, but it really nailed a lot of stuff.

Out of the new writers this season, I've liked Haber's stuff consistently. I would like to see more of Ed Valentine too, because I liked Flight to the Finish but I wasn't that nuts about Three's a Crowd, ironically.
@Dark: Oh shi- there is? *runs to download*
