A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I guess that makes sense.
Theroretically: "IF" by some miracle by pony god himself, that at the same time some pony drinks the "potion" and at that time grows some hair back or has his/her legs healed, OR (unlikely) become as great a flyer as Rainbow, that would make AJ's lie the truth. So it would contradict said statement.
Besides, some ponies arn't that stupid.*Looks over at Snips and Snails*
Basically, this is a cartoon presentation on how people believe in vitamin suppliments and flu shots.

Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceIt wouldn't make her lie the truth. It would look like it, but unless the tonic is what actually caused the recovery it would still be a lie.
And vitamin supplements and flu shots actually, you know, do things. This is more like Head-On:
It doesn't actually do anything, but they try to trick you into thinking it does.

Reaction Image RepositoryIf it was JUST Granny Smith, maybe the charade could have been kept up for a while, but once you involve other ponies, then you're not doing anyone any favours.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectSo, to summarize Season 4 up to this point, here's Derpy.
She didn't know whether or not Granny would keep feeling good if she knew it was just a placebo. If nopony else knew, she might think it was better to let Granny think it was working so she'd keep feeling better.

To raise Granny's spirits up?
@Head-on: that commercial was always so creepy.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I love it whenever the Apple family is the focus of an episode! I'm close to my family, and the times when we work or relax outside of the city is great, and so I'm happy whenever we see Granny Smith or Applejack do the same thing.
The return of the Flim-Flam brothers had a less memorable song this time, but their episode was better written, with better pacing!
Who voiced Silver?? He sounded like Tom Kenny.

"This is inaccurate."
Reaction Image RepositoryNeat episode. I liked the way Flim and Flam didn't even really deny what they were doing when AJ confronted them, and instead somewhat cleverly managed to not only convince her not to be honest and immediately pounced on that to turn it to their advantage. If AJ weren't so stubborn, their con might have gone on far longer than it had.
It did seem a bit weird AJ's key is a coin, though. Like the writers realized they didn't have anything on hand to turn into a key, and just gave AJ some money.
Well, Fluttershy's key is a flower, which is probably even more plentiful.
Reaction Image RepositoryYeah, Flim and Flam mare good con artists, until they let their greed get away from them and push things to far.
Aj, yeah when it was just letting Granny Smith believe the potion was working, what's the harm? But once they started bragging about it to everypony and using her as a spokesmare more or less. It was to much.
The rubber chicken key only makes sense because Pinkie.
I put my friend in a coconut! He lives in my hat! Hey, come hang out!

1. Granny didn't turn back into a chicken.
2. Because it wasn't her only resort left, and because keeping up the charade had far more potential to go horribly wrong. If she busts Flim and Flam, the worst case scenario is that everything reverts back to how it was at the beginning of the episode, only AJ now has to deal with trust issues. If she doesn't the potential issues are much worse, namely tons of ponies wasting potentially enormous amounts of money on something that doesn't help them, as well as making them believe they're better off than they are, which could result in them injuring themselves even worse or making themselves sicker.
