A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Friend codes? Back in my day we used link cables and infrared ports.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Starscream Nope. I have nothing to do this weekend as well. (I blame Tvtropes.)
Are you interested in cryptography? We're having a competition.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Rhyme, CDRW: The core of the idea takes place in a world where only living beings are capable of using magic; i.e. no enchanted objects or anything. It's generally accepted as being a fundamental law of how magic works. The main plot basically kicks off when the protagonists realize that somebody has figured out how to create magical objects, and naturally decided to use that ability to start a war. That's where it starts, anyway.
In reality, what's happened is that the two deities of the setting, who basically personify subjectivity and objectivity, have each left an artifact in the world that allows humans to borrow the power of the gods by manipulating the universe on a fundamental level. The bad guys get the "objective" power, which is basically a book that contains the "source code" information for reality, meaning that if they can manage to interpret it, they could theoretically go full Reality Warper. While the good guys get the "subjective" one that's more intuitive (functionally, it basically allows the protagonist to place a Geas on people or things, but is more limited in scope.
Although the bulk of the story is character based and all that stuff is backdrop. The theoretical gameplay mechanics would sort have been a mix between Paper Mario (in the sense that there are only a handful of stats that don't really get boosted by that much over the course of the game), and the Disgaea series (it would take place on the same sort of tactical grid).

Reaction Image RepositoryYeah, the spoiler stuff makes a lot more sense when it comes up over the course of the story rather than being info-dumped. I mean, I'd like to spin it into an actual game, but I seriously doubt I'm going to have the time to bother with it.
Reaction Image RepositoryYeah, but
1. I did that over the course of like a year and a half.
2. I already had experience writing. I have zero experience with game design. Which is why for now I'm just writing out the plotline in case I want to ever use it for something else.
Reaction Image Repository@JT: That does sound very interesting.
Anyway, the way that changelings work in my version of Equestria, is that ... well ... you know the green flame they produce when they switch? That's their true body. They can solidify into any body they can imagine (though they have to be careful not to forget an organ or something, which is why they prefer copying bodies or using ones they're more familiar with).

Yeah, I know. I was just poking a little fun.
Anyway, Luna's job comes with some interesting psychological challenges.
I wonder how Luna deals with those dreams that make zero sense; like LSD Dream Emulator make no sense.
Anyway, how's it going everyone?
"I feel like I'm on a raft and surrounding me is an ocean of dumb."- Mr. SarkI'll have to consolidate it and maybe post it more.
In other news, I'll be out of town this weekend and don't know how much I'll be on, so I'll see you all later.
